The bat "house" (it's actually called a hutch) is common where I live (eastern Michigan) and it's to keep the bats out of your attic by giving them a better place to hang

I know someone who had bats living in her attic. The floor ended up covered in guano and the smell attracted an enormous garden snake who wanted to eat them. Not pleasant.
The exterminator was not allowed to kill them because they are a threatened species and generally good for the environment, so he installed a special door that would allow them to get out but not let them back in.
Yes that is a 🦇 box they are great if you have a lot of bugs around cause bats will search for a place that is dark and small to “nest” in for a lack of a better term and encourage them to stick around and eat your bugs 🐜 🐛 🕷

They're also a threatened species, even endangered in some places because of a super contagious fungus (white nose syndrome). Helping them survive is good for the bats, the environment, and the ecosystem!

Yes! That is a bathouse, that can hold up to 1,000 bats in it! It will take years for them to grow their family that large, but that's the size limit for that specific box they made. In my community Bats are a huge part of our environment, so its not unheard of to have one or two bathouses in your backyard! Though they really need to make the house much much higher... bats can get hurt if they fly down too low to get into their houses.

I would totally be okay with a Beth Bagel Cooking video! I've started cooking all our meals at home...my way of helping...and i've gotten into cooking all sorts of things. Bagels seem easy...and difficult at the same time.

Bat boxes are everywhere in cottage country. They keep them away from your attics but close enough to eat those pesky mosquitoes and excess spiders.

They are called bat boxes. My grandmother has them on her property because bigs are a major source of irritation where I am. The bats help keep them under control.
You can find a lot of Bat homes in Canada. They're just so the bats have a place to go with so much deforestation in the area!
