Thank you so much for answering my question! I loved your descriptions of them! and I agree, Pionus are a very unique species. Quaffle beak plays with my fingers too lol. Quaffle only likes pets on her terms and usually pushes her beak to my face when she wants pets. I also love Ali's lil "right right" its so cute!
IHere in the US Pionus parrots are hard to find and White Crowned even more. So, I consider myself fortunate to have Ale. Love Quaffle’s name, is that from Harry Potter? Funny about the fingers! Yes, pets are when he wants them and that’s it! Does Quaffle talk? Ale says his name but little more… But, he’s not a year yet.
@@ParrotBliss yes it is from Harry Potter. White crown/white caps are the most common in the UK but pionis in general here are rare and very hard to find. Sadly she doesn't talk, but she has several noises to try communicate what she wants.

Hard to say... mine are out together sometimes and they don't hurt each other, but they certainly don't bond.

I think I’d love a blue headed Pionus. I could use a bit of quiet and mellow. 😂 One of my white bellied girls has learned to imitate a duck! It comes out, “wack, wack, wack”. Definitely not quack.Love both of your birds.❤️

Searching.... prepping... searching... prepping for my Pionus :) No local breeders or bird stores that can get them here in Idaho. So I'm looking all over the nation.
What kind of Pionis? Yes, they are hard to find…
We're also looking for pionus and found out that the price is $3,000. Huge price jump from $600 back in 2007 (in Los Angeles).

No- and they are hard to find, good luck!
No offense to Macy, but Pionus are pretty much my ideal parrot. I would absolutely love to have one, but even the rescues are out of my price range right now. There was a blue headed in a local rescue that I met with and would’ve taken in a second, but, yeah. Expensive. Personally I love the calmer, sweeter birds. I did end up miraculously finding a Bourke’s locally and she’s just the sweetest little thing!
Congrats on the Bourk! I’ve never had the pleasure, but they seem very sweet. It’s too bad you couldn’t get the Pionus- they are a rare find in a rescue.
@@ParrotBliss so far she’s very sweet! I was pretty heartbroken about the pionus. I don’t know what the rescues are like there, but it wasn’t much cheaper than getting a baby.
That is because they are just so sweet and easy to live with. There rarely will be a human trying to get rid of their little Pionus because they are just so easy going... To me the Pionus' are the introverts of the species, or what I call them: the philosopher parrot, mainly just watching and thinking about the ways of this world 🤔🤓😉 I just adore them ...
