I bought a 906 CBR and for my purposes (mainly 5xd and 6xd) I wasn't crazy about it for anything deeper than a 5xd, was just overpowered by a full one ounce 6xd. IMO you'll need a moderate or mod-fast action likely on a MH powered rod which is rated for something beyond one ounce even. The IMX-Pro 968 on the other hand would handle the 6xd fine but kind of a waste if not looking to throw heavier baits as well such as the 8xd and likely 10XD, which I'm not interested in. For my purposes I settled in with the Dobyns 805cb and also got the Shimano 7'6 Zodias glass composite.
Hey - great video, thanks for the review. I want to pick up this rod. Question: What is that lure holder on your rod that you attached the chatterbait to? Do you use it so you don't scratch the rod? I am interested in getting one of those too if that's the case. Appreciate it
Hey man! Thanks for watching the video and I'm glad it helped. What you see on my rod here is a mount for an Anglr Tracker. It's a Bluetooth device that captures cast and hookset data to go along with the free Anglr app. They have a new product out called the Bullseye that I use now and have removed that mount from all of my rods. Hope this helps!
baja1k I haven’t. However, I will say that I throw a 5 and 6xd on this rod and it’s awesome for that. I feel like the 8 power might be a little much, but I can’t speak for it because I’ve never used it.
Do you still use this rod for deep cranking? I was considering this rod or the IMX pro 845 cbr. Others have told me that there is no need to go with the NRX or GLX for cranking rods? Love to hear your thoughts on this. I was also wondering what setup you use for small cranking. Thanks, I am a sub, and always enjoy your videos. Take care.
Hey George! Thanks for subbing. Yes, I still use this rod for deep cranking and I still love it as much today as I did back then. It's perfect for bigger crankbaits. I too believe that it's pointless to go with an NRX for cranking or really anything moving. I use NRX for bottom contact only. There is no need to step up to the super high end for moving baits. You'll love this rod if you get it. The handle is super long and is a little different than any other rods I have and it took some getting used to. It will cast a bait a country mile paired with the right reel and line.
I haven't. I'm sure it's a great rod! I would imagine the 3 power at that length would be very flexible. I'm not sure I would use something that long at the 3 power to be honest, but it all depends on what you're throwing with it. I'd imagine it would be great for medium diving cranks.
Hey Leon, I'm sorry for the delay in response. I feel like the new IMX-Pro rods are far superior to the older series of rods. They feel lighter use nicer looking components, in my opinion. I own three IMX-Pro crankbait rods. The 906c (in this video), 866c cbr deep flex, and the 847c cbr and I use them all almost on the daily basis when I'm out on the water. The 847 makes a great topwater rod as well!
I use the same setup but with a Daiwa zillion I need to upgrade to a bigger reel I have 9.5 inch hands and the zillion isn’t cutting it but getting money ain’t easy at 16
UA-cam ACCOUNT Gang I’m 35 and money still isn’t easy for me. That’s quite the accomplishment to have that kind of setup at 16! You should be proud. If you get a little money ahead, definitely look into the Curado K. The frame would fit your hands great. Thanks for watchin’!
I can’t speak to that as I don’t own any of the older IMX series. This one is comfortable and works well. I’d suggest getting one in your hands and try it for yourself.
Just bought one of these for throwing 8-16 ft crankbaits!

@@OnAnotherLine It does, thanks so much
Have you have a chance to play around with the IMX PRO 968C CBR? Looking to see how it casts the 6xd and Megabass deep six

Have you fished the 903C CBR?

Are these IMX pro way better than the previous older crankbait rods?
Because someone if offering me a :
G-Loomis Crankbait CBR 903/7-6″ MEDIUM older version (not imx)

There is no way! I throw the same exact set up even down to the line
Pure Angling super awesome combo isn’t it!? I love it.
Yes sir best purchase ever
Looks like they changed the reel seat grip compared to the older models. I'll pass.
