    what are they out to prove? We understand that hurricanes bring dangerous winds. There's no need for news reporters to put themselves in harm's way!

      Contrary to what you believe, that is the most honest way to report news. First hand experience kind of lends to the credibility of the report. Thats why reporters wear bullet proof vests that say "press" on them when they are in warzones. They are suppose to be telling people what the first hand experience of the situation is. One also must remember that these guys in particular arent out there putting themselves in life threatening circumstances.

      @Bruce Fale its not the same. Its like knowing a crime was commited, compared to being a direct witness or victim of said crime. The implications of the information would be much different. Everyone already knows that strong hurricanes have extreme winds, they are simply showing us just how strong the winds are.

      They are there to show people the power of the storm. People through the years have stated they would have stayed home but they saw what the reporters showed them last time.

    Laura is a cat 4, the winds are a hell of alot faster than 98 miles a hour more like 130-156 mph winds. I actually know from experience cause I live in Florida

    I can't cry for those that stay with this type or hurricane, it's a thing that you get what you sow; but I do for the youngins that're forced to be with their demented-thinking parents. And they shouldn't constantly ... CONSTANTLY... be putting rescuers at risk for any injury because of their stupidity.

      this is an ignorant statement ... not everyone has places to go, and you have clearly not witnessed some of the panic that ensues , highways and farm roads get backed up with hours long traffic . I have stayed through every storm since the late 80's in Houston , we help each other , we do not expect first responders to do all the work. People have the right to stay with their families in their homes if they choose , who are you to say any different. The last mass exodus from Houston during a storm , thousands of people got stuck on the highways , then a heat wave came , more died on the highway trying to evacuate than in the floods and storms. Check yourself

      All of the Storm Chasers and weather reporters established themselves at a location that is safe. More than likely they are at hotels or parking garages that are built to withstand hurricane-force winds and are up to code. Believe it or not, they are safe.

    Which hurricane inspired the development of the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale, with categories 1 through 5? Answer: Hurricane Camille, August 17th, 1969. She slammed into the Mississippi gulf coast with sustained winds of 190 MPH and a 25-foot storm surge. Visit my website: agnosticthinker.com.

    Hi from the Uk and hope everyone near the hurricane is OK. Is it common for the news media to say a hurricane is going to turn into a category 5, only for it to reduce to a category 2? Perhaps that's why so many people refuse to evacuate? It looked like the one weather man was doing alright standing in the wind until he thought the camera went live so he started to pretend the wind was throwing him around! 2:46

    • @philgiglio7922
      @philgiglio7922 3 роки тому

      Weather is fluid, like a river. Lake Charles did not get the expected storm surge as the center wobbled by 10 miles. There are multiple things affecting these storms at any given moment. Water temp and wind shear are just 2 factors.

    • @philgiglio7922
      @philgiglio7922 3 роки тому

      People refuse to leave for any number of factors. What would you have done? Some feel looters will take anything left after the storm and they have to stay to shoot them. Some have no money to leave. In 2004, Florida had 5 landfalling hurricanes in 7 weeks. Many were not given time off work to drive to safety. Some could not afford hotels (different world then). No money for gasoline or food. Running out of gas stuck in traffic.

    Ha! Why do they make reporters do this? They should be wearing helmets behind cover. 6:18 ABC news woman inside news building asks who gave this reporter in harm's way a 10 minute window. Why do you need to know? Are you trying to stop people from keeping people safe?

      Raziel Moreno I think hurricanes are named after the meteorologists that sighted them on the radar and to get warnings out.
      From looking at past hurricanes, the ones with women's names seemed to be more fierce.

      There are 3 letters in the English alphabet that are not used for names of tropical systems. After the last English alphabet letter is used, we start with Greek. Alpha, Beta, etc. This happened once before.

      If not for news reporters like this and Storm Chasers, we wouldn't have first-hand accounts. Sometimes the best kind of reporting that you can do to get the most accurate information is from people like this. Make no mistake, these people are taking every precaution to make sure they stay safe.
