For eight years we’ve been garbage Russ was here for two of the 8 so you just gunna forget the other 6 years when he wasn’t here we were never a qb away. The team has never been good but you don’t get rid of the defensive glue.

The coaching staff gave russ 0 support. And if youre trying to rebuild, cutting a guy and gaining 85mil in dead cap is the opposite of what u need to do. U set the culture and playstyle with russ while hes on contract, give him support, and when russ contract is up THEN u move to another qb. Cutting russ and gaining that dead cap is a complete ego move by payton.
Don't forget Fraud I mean Sean Payton. If he wanted Russ there he'd still be there. Let's be real he's the real GM now the other dude has become his assistant. So when he's fired next year no one will blame Payton even tho he's making the final decisions. He wouldn't have come to Denver if he wasn't going to have final say. He worked a money mark into giving him the money and power. But he'll be gone in two years too.

The narratives are crazy, you either know ball or you don't. The Broncos had 5 Rushing TDs all year between 3 backs. The Dolphins rushed for 5 against them in one game. Russ was not the issue in Denver last year. Their main back didn't rush for a TD till week 12.

The Broncos took a HUGE stepback from 2022 and that's because Sean hired Vance Joseph who's one of the worst Defensive HCs in the league.
They were bottom of the league in almost every metric except 3rd Down % and Turnovers.

This is what I have been saying. Baker Mayfield with Mike Evans and Godwin was only able to muster 28 TD. Russ with Cortland Sutton and Jerry Judy had 26TD in 15 games. Imagine if you switched the QB. Russ would probably have a year like 2020

This isn't a very good move by Denver's new ownership. Russell likes Sean Payton as a coach and human being. Payton should be a little more workable

The injury clause discussion was not asked to be waived in full. The conversation was about moving that date into 2025. He’s being compensated a fully guaranteed 39M for 2024 regardless of that decision. And if 2024 didn’t work out, why pre pay another 37M up front in same year.

Honestly it was a tough position to be. If they would have played Russ another year they would still have to pay him for 2025 and the dead cap would have been higher than it is now. Clearly Sean wants his own guy at QB. The broncos will not be good next year. They might be better the year after but so will the chargers and the chiefs. I don't think the broncos have a chance to even move to second in their own division. This is a 4 year rebuild min. With Russ I think they could have contended next year. Retool wr and TE. Fix the ol and make some def adjustments they would have been good.
If Russ plays well this year and the Broncos don’t, Payton will be lucky to have a job into 2025. His seat will get real hot really quickly.

You start by repairing any structural damage (if any exists), replacing a few worn parts, getting any scratches and dents removed, etc. You want to get it detailed.
Payton should’ve done everything he could to showcase Russ and get Russ’s stats up. Who knows? They might have won a lot of games in the process.
He should have talked up Russ a n the Jedi’s and made sure Russ got his stats up, win, lose, or tie.
At the end of the season, say that you’re rebuilding and Russ has provided a list. That’s how you frame the trade.

I don't think sympathy is the right emotion here. Sean Payton didn't do the job he was hired to do. The he goes to finger point and play the blame game. Sean Payton is not a very good leader but I'm excited to see how the next two years go for him.

FYI 7:15 they never asked him to "waive" his injury guarantee. They asked him to push his 2025 injury guarantee to NEXT off-season which would have actually allowed RUSS TO STAY w the Broncos 1 more yr in 2024. With how mediocre he was playing...that's a REASONABLE ASK. Russ cried and went public w it. And here we are. Facts.

Why broncos didn't fire the GM who did the contract to Russell Wilson?
Because none of the idiots talking about the contract extension seem to understand that the extension was part of the trade deal. No extension agreement in principle, no trade.
Russ is no fool. He was taking a huge gamble on Hackett and needed to protect himself. So, in exchange for his waiver of his no-trade clause, the Broncos agreed to extend him.
Plus, the Broncos thought Russ would ball out. Imagine if he had played really well in 2022 under Hackett and at the end of the 2022 season was asking for 5 years, $325M. Then, everyone would have wondered why the Broncos didn’t get it done up front to save money.
Russ is not going to make any team better. He puts up stats when games are already over and not when it matters.

Last year was the Broncos best season since 2016. Russ made the Broncos “better”, not good but better.
Did Brock Purdy make his team better? Same concept. Cheap QB allows you to build around him and the defense. Russ had 4 game winners 1 game less than the lead and 4 other games he could have won had a play or two gone differently.
Maybe Mark Schlereth is on to something about Russ’ skills declining. Coaches know more about a player than anyone. Lately Russ’ track record with coaches hasn’t been good.

Hackett’s first game as coach was against Seattle and opted for a 65 yard field goal at sea level instead of going for it on fourth and five at the end of the game instead of letting Russ convert on fourth down.
Sean Payton cut Russ and took a $85 million cap hit.
The Seahawks want to keep Russ on a good salary. The dude in 2020 had 40 TD and 4k yards. 2021 he was injured. With hackett Russ injured his lat so he wasn't able to play tonhis usual standards. Sean Payton and Russ didn't match because Russ is jazz and Payton is classical music. Sean too the cap hit because of his ego. He could have won with Russ they almost made it to the playoffs in the first season. He just didn't want to win using Russ's style. Russ was still one of the best QB throwing outside the numbers. I believe he was number one in 2023. Talks of Russell's decline are greatly exaggerated.

And just like vets in all sports, you may be able to perform at a professional level but is the financial cost and locker room effect worth it? 2 teams in the last 3 year have said no about Russ. As a Broncos fan, I hated watching Russ all year because he can’t see wide open receivers, panics in a clean pocket and runs into sacks. I watched every Broncos game, running game was terrible, offensive line was terrible (like Swiss cheese), except Sutton all other recievers (WRs and TEs) are below avg. players, play calling was awful, let stop pretend like Sean brought some awsome offensive schemes, for 3/4 was run, run and than 3rd and long, let Russ save drive, every time when Russ had minimum time in pocket he delivered. He was only let to play in 4th Q when Sean had to put the ball in his hand and most of the time he delivered, he led the league with game winning drives, maybe he would have even more if refs and Payton didn't ruin games against Redskins and Patriots. Also 2 games without Russ, offense was pathetic, far far far worse and Broncos played against teams which played for nothing, they had bunch of guys from practice squad and reserve squad. It was horrible. So stop blaiming Russ for everything when there were far far bigger problems.

Just curious if u feel the rumor that the decision to throw the ball at the one yard line at the end of the Hawks/Pats SB that got intercepted by Malcolm Butler (taking the ball out of Beast Mode’s hands), was a decision that was made to “make Russ the hero”, as Beast Mode had a reputation for being anti-media, unsophisticated, if not bordering on thuggish, and marched to the beat of his own drum. Whereas Russ, the young rising star QB, was a media darling, said “all the right things”, and had a rep for being “clean cut” and well liked in the Seattle community “off the field” just as much as he was well liked “on the field”. Could it be true that Carroll felt that winning the SB (which the Seahawks were seconds away from accomplishing), that it would make for a “better story” if “Good Guy Russ” was the “hero” instead of “Bad Guy Marshawn”?
