Just saw Angie Dickinson in Rio Bravo as "Feathers" w/ Dean Martin, Ricky Nelson & John Wayne. They're all GREAT in it- (Even if you don't love Westerns.)
Angie is so sweet and unpretentious here. Frank played a lot of roles but every time I look at him all I see is The Riddler! He was amazing in that role!
Oh Rose, people like you have been trying to prove your delusion for over 2000 years and have never even come close. Meanwhile, my people have libraries full of facts, hospitals full of remedies... oh why do I bother. My sock drawer needs attending to.
Joe Debono Believing in a higher power or a supreme being is a source of comfort for many. I think Angie did poorly in a couple lightning rounds because the guys couldn't stop thinking about Angie, instead of the game. And I absolutely don't blame them. She's fantastic.
Gorshin was a brilliant actor and comic. Great as the Riddler, outstanding in Star Trek as Commissioner Beal. Hilarious in Where The Boys Are and spot on in impersonating Burt Lancaster!
I notice how many celebrities are introduced as Supper Club Stars...I remember when that started to be something pretty low on the rung for stars and now I think it no longer exists.
They were called "Dinner theater" in the 1980s and 90s. There was one near Toronto, Ontario where I frequently went that attracted quite a few performers whose days in the spotlight had passed. I'm not sure if those places exist now.
It's interesting to see the change of clothes in the on-stage folks at the end of the day. When "tomorrow" comes, the audience is wearing the same clothes. Betty White, on the other hand, is wearing the same blue and white dress she had on "yesterday".
Correct. Wikipedia biography says he smoked 5 packs of cigs a day. Pretty stupid thing to do for someone that makes their living by their mouth/throat/tongue/lungs. The guy that played "Batman" on the TV series said the Gorshin could finish a cigarette in one continuous drag. Surprised he made it to 72.
Unfortunate and sloppy editing during the first few minutes by GSN, to cut parts of the show for more commercials. It was obvious that parts of their conversation were removed.
. GREAT eye !! I COMPLETELY missed that, until after reading your comment, and going back to watch it a bit closer! And though you used the phrase, "green screen", I immediately thought of the term "chroma key".......but that may just be two different ways of saying the same thing (though (hopefully!) somebody with more technical knowledge of those processes will be able to clarify!)..... 🤔 .
I'm guessing Kermit the frog was either just being born/coming into prominence or maybe not quite extant as of yet, but in just a few years "Kermit" would've been the perfect clue for "Frog"
During the years before “Sesame Street”, Jim Henson was using Kermit The Frog, and other early Muppets, in Wilkins Coffee commercials. Henson and his Muppets made appearances on “The Ed Sullivan Show” on CBS, also.
I think for "Fiction" if Angie, even as a first clue, were to stretch out the word "Faaaaact?" maybe 2 to 3 times longer than she did (even the second time she said it, which was a little better) I'm guessing the contestant might have gotten it.
Strange how nobody was putting the clues together for "Aid" (it seems like most of the answers wouldn't have gone together with things like "Band" or "first" for instance ( of course is much easier when you know the answer :-)
The contestants were utterly braindead on that P-W. The guy had a Dr. in front of his name yet cannot figure out the word "aid". 😒 Good clues were given.
Different word. The word was "Peek"--- "to take a short look at". Pike's Peak { a Moutain top dirt road car race in the Colorado mountains} is "Peak" ---- as in: "the top of the mountain". They sound alike, yes, but very different words. Although---- on this game, since A.L. could not spell worth a dime, he probably would not have known the difference. The Dictionary Ph.D man would have known but not A.L..
@@gusloader123 Yes, I do know it's a different word with a different spelling, but on Password, spelling doesn't matter. So even if you give a clue for the homophone, it still works. For example, often on the show, the clue-giver might give a clue for "Wait" when the word is "Weight" or a clue for "Build" for "Billed."
@@voicetube - Hello. If I had been a contestant trying to win some $ to pay the rent and car payment and shoes for the kid's feet that month ,,,, and it was almost the last clue and the celebrity was daft (but photogenic) I would have used a "sound-a-like" clue myself. A.L. claimed to have a B.A. in English from the U. of Texas yet the man could not spell. Have you ever seen the black & white episode with the password was "Pour" (as in "pour the water".) and one of the people gave clues for "poor" ("having no or little money") instead of "Pour"? A.L. did not know the difference. The P-W show Announcer / Speaker would have been a better Host IMO. {He did fill in one week for A.L. back in the 1st or second season. He did a good job.} I watched P-W from when it started in the afternoon with my mom as she folded and Ironed clothes. (Very early 60's). I am not glad that A.L. got cancer and died, but I did NOT miss him being replaced as the host. He allowed the female celebs to cheat and use gestures yet warned the male Celebs not to. He treated contestants from the Southern States badly and insulted their accents.
for 'aid' how do you not think of 'help' or 'enhancement' or 'improvement'? for 'Peek' -- 'Summit', 'highest' , 'top' 'Pikes'; 'Salesman'---'solicitor' 'peddler. (and no I didn't use Siri)
It was not a clue. I just re-watched it after reading your comment. That was Frank Gorshin's reallllllly bad answer to a clue. He listened to the other team instead of listening to his partner at the time. Floor was a good starting clue for the P-W "wax". Angie missed it, so the other team got a chance. Gorshin's team member (woman in blue & white dress, brown hair) should have said "Shiny" for a clue but did not.
She was born and lived early in the Upper mid-west plains' states. I think she went to a Catholic High School in the L.A. County area after her parents moved west. She was attractive but also could do her A, B, C's - 1-2-3's all by herself. 😊
She is absolutely beautiful. Angie Dickinson.
She was a darn good player too.
@@m.e.d.7997 Absolutely. She played a very intelligent version and I was impressed with her appearances on the show.

Always loved Angie.
As a boy when this was aired, I couldn't appreciate fully how cute and beautiful Angie Dickinson was.

I'm grateful society has grown more secular. All I've ever seen of faith is marginalization.
And I Love how Allen Ludden encourages the audience to take time to thank God at their local church at the conclusion of every Friday broadcast.

Angie is adorable.
When the male contestant started playing with Frank Gorshin, he magically transformed into a black dude. It must have been the lighting.
