Stop this gives me hope as a highschool theatre kid because I didn't realize how well this musical could be PG-afied. My school just recently got a cyclorama for our last production, which would be PERFECT for the projections in RTC. What a wonderful performance :)
Edit: THIS IS STUDENT RAN!!!?!?!?!??
SAME- I really need to convince my theatre teachers helppppppppppppppppppppppp
Oddly enough the PG versions of Ride the cyclone are all really good. It doesn’t feel clunky or cringey or any of the pitfalls censored versions of media.
did we watch the same thing? when I saw a comment stating that this was student directed I was not suprised. I could tell that a mature, knoweladable thespian was not in charge of this show. Most of them were out of breath in every song and the acting was okay I guess. They could've done so much better if they had better leadership.
@@neeisdum1221 The fun thing about opinions is that they’re different from other peoples. It’s better than all the other school productions of RTC that’s for sure, by a long shot, I just like the musical I’m not one to go into the acting in the musical performances for all the tech stuff. I just like enjoying musicals. I think they did a good job with the acting and singing. Let’s just agree to disagree OK.
@@neeisdum1221 OP was talking about the adaptation of the play for a younger audience, not the specific performances of the actors! it’s high school theater, i don’t know what to tell you man 💀 the fact that it’s student-led is kind of the point: they learn responsibility and leadership skills. it’s not meant to rival the original production on any level. commenting on their performance skills (in a non-constructive way like this) is in poor taste, especially on a recording that they will inevitably go back to watch and probably read all the comments on. let's think before we speak, yes? (if you were part of this performance and you're reading this, i love you and i am very impressed 🫶)
Jane doe saying a last goodbye to everyone 😭😭
it had me on the verge of tears everynight
Actually beyond gutted, it’s been one of my dreams to see ride the cyclone live for so long and it’s my favourite show, but as soon as I find one in the UK it’s sold out. This school literally did perfectly and I would’ve caused mayhem to have been there. Please all continue being amazing!!
We are actually an independent school in Monterey, CA.
I’m sorry, but this Ricky is SO CUTE LMAO I CANT GET OVER IT
the thing i don't like of RTC is that it ends
Ironic, the plot is about "our end"

I NEED THE LYRICS OF THIS VERSION OF NOEL'S LAMENT, IS SOOOOO GOOD
Ricky's change at 54:15 was so surprising NGL, a cool change, every vibe for each song was delivered well
Im not gonna lie, I was a little skeptical starting this, but as soon as Uranium Suite started I was blown away by how accurate their voices were. They killed it
Loved mischas voice in Talia, and the clean version of noels lament works surprisingly well!
Absolutely love all the changes to make it PG!!! This is actually really good, much better than I expected!!! Everyone should be very proud of what they have accomplished, but I was confused for the two extra people.
But other than that, it was a beautiful watch!
They were originally in the show but they were taken out for time I believe. From what I heard, Astrid was Ocean's sister and Hank was Astrid's boyfriend originally. I don't know if that's completely true though.
they were understudies for ocean and jane!! they also just became additional ensemble in the choir

I usually don’t like space age bachelor man but this oneee I luv it (also this Constance is so cute)
This musical always makes me so emotional and these kids were no exception. If anything, it hit much harder because they conveyed the ideas of it all so beautifully for their age. Congrats to all of you and thank you for taking me on the Cyclone with y’all 💖✨
First time watching ride the cyclone, I cried near the end. 10/10
I finally found a slime tutorial of the jr version! I’m audition next summer and I had no clue what the highschool edition was like
Xinyao Zhang is a star! Her monologue was even better than the professional show! Made me cry so much ❤❤
An amazing rendition, I really enjoyed this!
This is definitely the best school production of rtc that I've ever seen! I'll be showing this to my drama teacher to convince her to let us do the show :}
ricky was delightful
my favourite cast member gotta be ricky potts he was amazing
I'm so glad I got the chance to see this wonderful performance live!! Thanks to the cast, crew and production team for making it happen!! You were all amazing! And Maria- Elena you were the best Ocean ever!!
everybody here ate but OMG that Ricky is soooo great!
Thank you to York’s all-student-led production for putting on such an entertaining show. Great acting and great direction. Kudos to all!
Constance’s performance is incredible!!!
Whoever played Noel is a brilliant singer. I love their voice so much, a perfect fit for Noel's role too! The entire thing was amazing. Great acting and singing from everyone! And the set is AMAZING. Also, whoever was Karnak was amazing! Mischa was also a great singer and actor! Ricky had an amazing voice, great vocals! Hilarious and great execution!
Hi!! i was noel and this comment made me smile!! I haven’t been doing theater for long (currently in my 4th show) thank you for your kind words :). Also I totally agree Karnak was amazing along with the rest of the cast!!
@@user-kk2lv2ed2e Your welcome! You're great at writing and you have an amazing voice! :D
Addition: Whoever was Ricky's dad was absolutely hilarious!
Constance is so pretty wtf its giving that girl from wreck it ralph
This is such a wonderful version of the show. It is so incredibly well casted since everyone fit into their roles so well. There is so much beauty and emotion in this show and you all captured it all so well.
Always happy to see a production of Ride the Cyclone pop up in my recommendations! Really impressed by the staging as well, one of the better ones I've seen from those outside of professional theater. If I'm not mistaken, an audience member was brought up to play one of Ocean's parents, weren't they? What a cool idea!
Yes! We did a lot of audience participation - they came up during a couple of the songs as well! We wanted them to feel like they were a part of the action.
Ricky was fire 🔥🛸🐱
THE JANE DOE WAS AMAZING
this is one of the coolest RTC performance I have ever seen, all the love and appreciation from Brazil, you guys did AMAZING, and it was so good and funny
one thing that I found quite funny is that there are higher seats, making jane doe's headless eye trick not work
Im gonna watch this version at my ride the cyclone birthday party (younger siblings will be there)
At the “nativity scene “ bit and VERY curious how they made this scene PG.
UPDATE: that worked way better then I expected!
@@Raenbow29every night i almost said the actual lines for that scene
@@user-kk2lv2ed2e woah woah woah wait are you the Noel in this production?
It's a student production. I don't expect and neither should anyone expect a broadway level performance. Nothing really stood out to me besides some of the interactions with the audience which is a fun touch. But the actor who played Ricky really stood out during Space Age Bachelor Man. If he could get some more directing on his acting, practice the song a little more (going over some of the notes), and do the actual lyrics when he's older (I laughed at his slip up not saying the censored lyric) so it doesn't feel so clunky. I could really see him peforming Ricky at an offical level. Well done!
this constance is so cute 💜💜💜
What a great show! I’m so thankful you posted this for out of state friends and family to watch this talented group of performers!❤
STOP THIS IS AMAZING I LOVE IT SM
CONSTANCE IS SO CUTEEE
Love it
Lol seeing this is so cool
RICKY WAS GOOD
constance was so cute
guys i need the lyrics to every song with a lyric change in this version
anything in the first half of the show should be online in a sample of the script!!!you just gotta look around a bit
Who are the extra girls? Astrid and Tammy or who
it’s a high school production, they had to have more people, they can’t just have 7 people.
35:16 What does Noel want to be in this version? I can't hear what Noel is saying
he says he wants to be "une femme brisée" which if i'm not mistaken, means "broken woman" or "that broken woman" and you can see every changed lyric in the script
@@ventissecondtolastlyrestring Ohhh ok thank you!!
@@hopedixon9465 no problem! glad to help
I SAW THIS ONE IT WAS AMAZING!!>1!1> BUT CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT NOEL SAYS IN NOELS LAMENT CAUSE I HAD A HARD TIME HEARING ):
IM SO SORRY I HAVE HORRIBLE DICTATION. main point in the song is “I commit a new crime every night” and “une femme brisee” for the chorus lyric changes
@@infiniteratking OHHH TYYY
Who are the girls that didn't have any independent lines? :(
ensemble, the original musical doesn’t have those people but since this is a high school production they can’t just have 6 characters.
@@zmbiegrrl ohh ok ty
does anyone know why theres so many extra people?
SABM ate, that’s all I’ll say
why do only 6 of them get introduced
There are only 6 characters (and only 6 people in the cast as a whole) in the original musical, but since it was a highschool production, they couldn’t just have a 6-person cast. The other girls who appear in the choir are ensemble members
Is it just me or are there extra students?
it’s a high school production, they can’t just have 7 people in the show.
Why is there 5 girls
it’s a high school production they can’t just have 7 characters
Wished y'all did the feeding tube line. Way more iconic.
Actually shut up, you are genuinely just complaining for the sake of complaining flop ;-; humble yourself and get off the video if you don’t like it.. 😭🙏
@@SN25120chill
@@Hannah-kn6uwNah because they're actually leaving a bunch of negative comments acting like this isn't a student production of the show, not broadway.
WHY ARE THEY ADDING MORE CHARACTERS!? Like, I personally think a six peeps production is actually the best.
I mean, the extra characters seem to only be backup singers/dancers, so they're not disrupting the original plot. It wouldn't be too fun for the rest of the drama department if there could only be 8 people involved (counting Karnak and Virgil the Rat); this IS a school production after all.
@@MaidenThailand Original RTC was successful with only 7 people.
Im pretty sure 2 characters were cut out of the original show? So in newer productions they are there but in one version they are more of comedic characters that are used as ensemble and hold signs saying "we were cut from the show" or something
because it’s a highschool production 😭 highschool theater more often than not adds in ensemble roles that didn’t exist before so that the other kids who arent playing main roles don’t get left out.
@@jaspers_space1889 adding people to your production won't enhance your actors' skilss
