I am using the same receiver system (x2) to make the ENTIRE tongue frame removable all the way to the body of the trailer. It will separate and stow inside my van when we depart .
Definitely, towing smaller is better than larger; if compatible with one's comfort zone. Some great ideas in this vid. The anti-theft measures are a very sad reflection of the reality of life in the USA.
What a wonderful group of people, enjoying life with their own innovations built into a cargo trailer. Life at its finest, being happy and finding joy through their travels. Memories abound!
"Were not camping....were driving to the next campground" another gem of a camper trailer! Gotta love this lifestyle just hitch up and go! The creativity that goes into these campers are awesome! Makes me want to keep changing mine up a little lol...
I love her hack of the hanging shoe thing for her paper plates and silverware, genius!! Also like the murphy bed with the fold down table! Nice trailer build with a lot of good ideas! Thanks Jan, Johnny, Deb and Bill. Blessings ~Sidney
Love the propane heater, and heat activated fan. It reminded me of a Chinese lantern my mother had when I was in 5th grade, bought for her at a Chinese restaurant in Encino, CA. When the bulb got heated up after being turned on, the lamp shade would rotate, and all of the Chinese artwork would be illuminated around the walls as it turned. As a child, I thought that was just amazing.
You're the best couple...so sweet... and I can see the love between you two.Thank you for a wonderful, informative tour of your Lovely RV Home. Happy Trails! and stay safe.

Since Bill shot this video, Jan has painted a sunflower scene on the inside of the ramp door with a border. She calls it her rug. She also painted another little flower scene that is behind the table when it's in the up position. They look nice. We've also added solar panels and 500 amp hours of lithium batteries so I kept the 3000watt inverter...
You guys did a fantastic job on this camper from the removable hich to the heat and air I watched it twice and still saw things I missed!! The video and the questions were very well done thanks to all of was a pleasure to watch!
I don't ever want to go camping again in my life. I spent plenty of time in a tent in Afghanistan. I want my trailer to travel in for recreation and travel in comfort.
Neat people. Seems all the good folk have hit the freedom road. Am 77 and would love it but feel doing it alone w neuropathy not a choice now. They are quite the role models with great ideas. Love induction too. Is one burner next to my gas top stove.
It's kinda like a congressman said, "A billion dollars here, a billion dollars there and pretty soon you're into some real money."!!! My bookkeeper tells me I have north of nine grand in it after the new axle and tires/rims......
@@Livinonsunshine The part I pull out and keep in the truck is made up of a bolt on coupler that I bought from a trailer parts dealer and a heavy wall piece of two inch square tube that I welded to it. The part that stayes with the trailer is the factory coupling that I cut the front off of and welded in a piece of receiver tube that I bought from Walmart. If you can't weld, any good welding/repair shop should be able to replicate what I did. I've welded all my life and am quite comfortable with my ability to weld up things like this that are structural in nature and would be disastrous if it failed. Not that I'm a professional or anything but if you don't have the same confidence in your welding ability, get someone else to do it for you. It's not really rocket surgery but like they say: "Don't try this at home!"...
A beautiful couple with a wonderful conversion. Thank goodness for Amazon. Enjoy your adventures and happy travels. From Lorraine in Toronto, Australia
I'm just about to start a conversion on my trailer almost exactly like this one. This is the best video for ideas I've seen yet! Thanks! Great work Jan & Johnny!
One of, if not the best reasons to upgrade out of a tent..."we're getting old"...brother I hear you and understand completely...went from a rucksack to a small dome tent to a converted 3/4 ton military trailer...and now in the process of getting the materials together for a 7x16 enclosed cargo...
One of my favorites so far and I've looked at a lot of them. Nicely done. Simply OUTSTANDING! Very snug and personal. Love the bed system. Safe travels to you both.
Thank you!. I've since added two air struts to the bed to help Jan have xxx an easier time lifting the bed up. Worked out by great. Don't know why I didn't do it sooner... Getting ready to upgrade my gel lead acid battery to lithium and will keep the 3000wattinverteruntil it causes problems...
Another option would be to purchase wheel adapters to run the same tire/rim combo as truck...that'd give you more clearance AND the plus of two spares.
Thank you for sharing, I have looked at a lot of builds and this one is great. The bed set up is out of the box thinking. I hope you all are safe and having a great time.
I'm a retired Home Builder and you got me thinking maybe some mind of screen house to set upon the deck area... Maybe I can make it so it sets up & floss up quickly & easily, and fairly reasonable so everyone can afford one. It could extend time spent on the deck... Hmmm
Did I miss how they get up on the patio? Do they have steps on either side? Love the open back door. They have the windows covered. but there's tons of light beaming in from the patio. Adorable, practical layout. I love the galvanize on the countertop. Very safe. Safety first! I would put a self closing net on the patio opening too. Cute couple.
FYI folks , If using a gas appliance for heating etc You MUST have a supply of combustion air ! This couple left their roof vent open and that was the source for combustion air BUT you can;t completely seal a trailer and expect to use a gas fired heater . Simple rule if exhaust goes out , fresh air MUST come in . Portable rolling air conditioners also Must have condenser supply air and exhaust seperate from the conditioned air . You can recirculate the chilled air ( conditioned air ) as you do at home .
Absolutely! We also have a Three inch side vent that we can't close at all. Venting makes All the difference in the world in fact, My trailer is otherwise Rather airtight and the little propane heater will not work without venting...
GREAT VIDEO , You both seem so happy. Enjoying that life . I wish you the very best. that was my wife & my dream. LIIKE YOU Said don't wait I retired at 61 yrs old . a day after, my wife became VERY ILL. So dream never happen. we had a 35ft trailer. GOD BLESS YOU BOTH. I look forward to your videos wrong video. I meant February 24 THIS was also good
Sorry for your loss of your wife. I hope you find happiness going forward. Perhaps you can still go out on the road as you will meet the nicest people on your journeys. Blessings to you.
Love these video's. I get so many great ideals. I plan on doing a truck this fall and a trailer most likely next year. Love the Murphy bed set up and table.
Thanks. I've recently added two gas struts to the bed to take a little weight off my wife when we pick the bed back up. Made it really easy. Don't know why I waited to do that.
@John Duke thanks so much for your sharing about the hitch. I most certainly would be finding a weld shop lol but fantastic on the self-build. Gives me the ability to start with sketching up something to take somewhere. Would capitalize on your design if I were you ;) kudos :)
Awesome little build. Really good ideas that I want to put into mine when I can build it. Another great video. Hopefully when I get on the road I can come visit you myself.
I'm collecting all kinds of great ideas. Thank you so much. Bill, I love your videos, keep them coming.

Ingenious idea to use a stainless steel bowl for a sink! Might have to incorporate it in my van, when I finally buy one. Thank you.
Nice couple, most people their age are just sitting around, but they are out and about
and enjoying the outdoors, thumbs up!!
What a beautiful view
Great little camper and an awesome couple.

Appreciate your service. I don’t blame you.
Your service is valued! Glad you can still commune with nature in your RV! It helps to balance us emotionally and healthy physically! Good for you.

Just amazing what they've done in a 6X12 space.
Wow, what a beautiful couple with so much wisdom and memories to share.... hope we run into them one day camping? God bless
The flashing is cool. I'd clear coat all the edges. It will rust.
What a gorgeous "home" and I would be really proud to call it that! Well done on this build...amazing!

Thanks for sharing... Great layout,.... Have a similar trailer... Looking to do a conversion soon. ... Very nice folks....
this was my idea the 6X12 with the murphy bed. Thankx for showing how you did it.

Jan and Johnny I thank you both for sharing and I got some great ideas for my Glamping Mini Trailer build I'm starting in July 😁👍

Loved the ingenuity in Jan & Johnny's trailer! And really loved the sink drain bucket! Hail State, Go Bulldogs!
Nice. Love the seating and cabinet over it. And that hideaway table is brilliant. And that auto fan is neat. Never seen one of those before.
We had never seen one of those either, but very cool
Paint the plywood edge with verathane / acrylic clear coating Crafters use it . It will seal the wood and prevent water from getting in

So many ideas! I'd need a 100 ft long trailer to incoroprate them all. I'll settle for a 8x14 x7.5 trailer instead.
very nicely done
