    "Highway alligator" refers to the occasional cap of a tire that is thrown from a semi. They look like an alligator laying in the road and can cause much damage if/when run you over them.

    Great job Jack! It’s so nice to just press a button to extend or retract our awning but I would take one of those manual awnings any day. Every time it gets a little breezy we bring ours in because they seem so fragile.

    Love the toilet made by Jack! I use one in my sticks'n'brick after tearing out a toilet for a renovation and while doing demo I decided I liked the no flush and water conservation so much I could never go back. (never say never! lol) but it would be nice to have it look so professional! Some JW friends built a tiny home with their sawdust toilet in a drawer so the bucket could be emptied from the outside! So many crafty ideas and folks! GA gal.

      We have talked about the next Rendezvous in other videos in the last few weeks. We will announce the dates and location of the next Rendezvous 6 months in advance. For the foreseeable future, future Rendezvous will be held at US Army Corp of Engineer campgrounds. You can't reserve a site at COE campgrounds any sooner than 6 months in advance. As far as the blurriness is concerned, I try to remember clean the camera lens each time I shoot a video. That particular day, I shot 4 walk thru videos, all impromptu, all unscripted, in addition to everything else going on at the Rendezvous that week. Please forgive me if I happened to miss something one time.😌

    So I built a 24’ cargo/toy hauler conversion and now I’m shopping for the best deal on an awning. So my question is what’s the best deal on a crank out awning?

    • @paulcurtis5496
      @paulcurtis5496 Рік тому +1

      I went another route and installed sun shades. I have a 20' Toy Hauler and I bought 2 x 20'x14'(each side) and a 30'x12' (across the back) and I use 6 x 8' fence posts as my off-hauler anchor points and I get 3 full sides of shade. on the driver's side I use that as a car port of sorts and the passenger and rear are shaded areas to relax under. Setup/take down times are about 40 minutes for all 3 and they roll up and store neatly in the hauler during transport.
      Not as convenient, but I spent around $350 for the whole setup.
      Another benefit for having the three sides, cuts down A/C power needs here in the Sonoran desert as the Hauler stays much cooler in the shade.

    what I do not understand on a vast majority of Toy Hauler conversions is why you would install a solar panel under 400 or 500watts? The available space you have on the roof is so finite, maximizing your power is mandatory.
    he has 4x100watt panels, why not put one 400watt panel up there to start and add more as needed, or just put 4x400 up there from the start?
    a Canadian Solar bifacial 445watt panel cost me $185, and if that was your only panel - only 1 to mount, only 1 to wire have additional space for a roof deck or storage or future panels.
    Why the low wattage panels???

    • @billanddeb
      @billanddeb  Рік тому +2

      Maybe 400 hundred watts was all he needed for his intended use. Maybe he plans on "plugging in" more often than not. Maybe he will decide he wants more after he uses it for a while. The possibilities are endless as to why he didn't do it the way you thought he should. That's the beauty of building your own conversion. You do what you think will work for you. 😉
