Ya'll gotta meet a Korean who can help you on how to eat the dishes lol. If the something is on top of the rice we mix it up and eat it with the spoon. Intesting thing is that you guys are eating how our neighbors in Japan eat Donburi dishes. Safe Travels!

  • @chaeyunitv
    @chaeyunitv 2 роки тому +3

Use spoon when you eat rice that's formal way to eat in Korea. Japanese hold the bowl when they eat rice because when you eat rice with chopsticks it's gonna be messy(the rice will fall down on the table). Nowadays some Korean also use chopsticks for rice with some reasons but mostly it seems okay because they are really good at using chopsticks.
I think western people think all Asian use chopsticks for everything.

12:01 12:17 that's typical school lunch box (doshilak in korean) of students from wealthy family in 70s 80s when they brought to school.
You know what, spam is quite decent dish with rice in korea and the box of spam is very common gift on the korean traditional festive days like lunar new year day.

    Oh, no, no!
That's not how you eat the first lunch box ㅠㅠ
There is a way to eat it.
It's a food that you eat by shaking the lid of the lunch box.
It's also a menu that you can sometimes see when you go to a bar.
It's a lunch box of my parents' generation when I was young. It's something that's been handed down until now. It's mixed like bibimbap Haha

I’m Korean American and went to Korea a few months before the pandemic hit. I’m so glad you guys are there, but here’s a tip.. EAT MOSTLY STREET FOOD! Not only you’re supporting the locals trying to make a living, but the flavor in food in the restaurants are kind of… watered down. Because of the saturation and competition in restaurants, they use cheap quality ingredients and you don’t really get the full flavor of Korean food, unfortunately. Safe travels! I’m currently re watching your Thailand and Vietnam vlogs. Doing a 4 week trip in January! Can’t wait to visit Thailand again and excited to see what Vietnam has to offer!

I hope my husband and I get to go soon (fingers crossed, maybe early next year!) Lastly, I’m SO stoked to find out that South Korea is your next destination - I’ve been to Seoul three times for vacation and it’s easily one of my favorite countries to visit. It’s so fun and the food is sooo delicious. My favorite area was Hongdae, it’s near a university and it’s lively even until late at night, especially on weekend nights when there are street vendors and buskers. Hope you guys have fun! @@OnePackWanderers Please visit Jeonju Hanok Village -- it's only an hour or two ride on the KTX (Korea's bullet train) but you can really experience the cozy traditional architecture! The city is very organized, clean and aesthetic, in a way different to Seoul. Maybe you can even do a Hanok stay in Jeonju, away from the bustle and hustle of Seoul. Another suggestion for Jeju island as well, you can maybe even going horseback riding if you get to go! If you're just limited to your stay in Seoul, please be sure to check out Korea's modern art museums, Starfield library/mall, Seongsu dong which hosts the world's largest container mall (Common Ground). As for Korean food, please try royal Korean cuisine or Han Jeongsik (which s Korea's table d'haute) with various side dishes (or banchans) that are cooked with finesse (it's Korea's upper-tier cuisine that is lesser known to foreigners). 15:40 The reason why Google map does not work well is because we are still on the war with the North , literally on the break for now, in order not to show out the military site for detail. That is why.
And Bibimbap which is korean for mixed(dishes) rice… you gotta perfectly well mix up whole given dishes with rice. If you eat seperately, cant take the real taste of bibimbap🙂
Hope you enjoy my country and take good memories.

It's not because of privacy issues. As a country at war, Korea is very sensitive about security. Because Google made unreasonable demands to the Korean government, the Korean government could not accept it. If you use a Korean map app like Kakao Map or Naver Map, you can check more information than Google Map. It even tells you when the subway or bus arrives in seconds, and in the case of bike paths, it tells you how much uphill, downhill and how steep they are.

@13:00 the dried stuff on the left-hand corner is anchovy - dried and stir-fried! They are not as big as European anchovies. Enjoy your time in Seoul ;)

I'm so sad that your time in Viet Nam is over, but I'm glad to hear that you want to return. I am a huge fan of Korean food, though, so I'm very much looking forward to your travels through South Korea. On cold rainy days, make sure to try out their spicy tofu soups. OMG, heaven! Also, if you don't mind bones, try gamjatang. It's a pork bone soup. The ones I've eaten use the neck bones, and the meat is sooooo flavorful. I'm only used to how Korean cuisine is served here in the States, so I'm curious how similar it is to Korea. Thanks again for sharing!

I'm so excited you went to Seoul! I wanted to go in February/March but couldn't, so I'll be extra happy to watch your adventures there. I love Bibimbap, that was a great first meal to have when you were exhausted. (I'm in Paris now, and I made that for my cousin last week. She's now a convert.LOL)

That last dish is called bibimbop, which means mixed-rice. You're supposed to stir everything thoroughly together. It tastes much better that way.

Most korean foods you have to mix together and eat with a spoon!

    For a bibimbob,
    stir it with chopsticks
and enjoy it with a spoon.

Such a cool story about the microphones, absolutely love that for you guys! The audio is 👌🏻. That airport looks so busy but no matter how hectic the airport experience is, it's always so much fun knowing you're moving on to another exciting destination. Awesome video guys... keep them coming :)
