MOONG DAL HALWA
Preparation time: 15 minutes
Cooking time: 1 hour
Serves: 2
Ingredients:
¼ cup Ghee, घी
1½ cup Moong dal, soaked, paste, मूंग दाल
1 cup Milk,दूध
2 tbsp Saffron Infused water, केसर
¼ tsp Cardamom Powder, इलायची पाउडर
1 cup Hot Water , पानी
3 tbsp Ghee, घी
1 cup Sugar, शक्कर
For Garnish:
Pistachios , पिस्ता
Almonds, बादाम
Silver vark , चांदी वर्क
Process :
1. Melt ghee in a non stick pan. Add the ground moong dal paste. Stir well
2. Keep on stirring the halwa on a low to medium flame. The raw aroma of the moong lentils should go away completely.
3. Meanwhile, take another pan of water and bring to a boil.
4. Now add milk to the cooked dal mixture and cook till all the milk is absorbed by the dal.
5. Add saffron infused water and mix well. Add cardamom powder and hot water mix well (The mixture sizzles so be careful while adding hot water mixture).
6. Now add in the ghee and sugar and stir well. Cook on low flame and string with frequent intervals.
7. The liquid should get absorbed and now you will see the ghee getting separated.
Lastly add chopped pistachios. Serve moong dal ka halwa hot.

Something as authentic as Moong dal halwa, I never thought would be a subject in these schools. Thanks for not only making these deliciously looking halwa(look mein to maa ke halwe ke barabar) but also the educating many ignorant like me. Kudos Chef Ranveer!!
The kada prasad was really divine .....I have now settled in South India, had tasted this prasad in gurudwaras when i was a child. I made it yesterday ,it was such a hit, with people who had never tasted this prasad.....Ranveer 'sab kuch batata hai'.....technique and recipe ....you are a great teacher Ranveer.

This is by far the best Moong Dal Halwa recipe ever... thanks Ranveer...this is considered to be one of the toughest sweet dish to make...also one thing I have noticed is that Ranveer is really good at making sweet dishes...other dishes he makes are fine too...but he is a specialist in sweet dishes
