Agreed 100%. ANY vacuum leaks will throw everything off and you'll never know why. Cloth vacuum hoses should have been outlawed years ago. The biggest contributor to carburetor mistuning. (Maltuning?... Bad carb tuning). Same thing with header leaks. Correct timing usually gets blamed for it. Lots of backfiring? Check header gaskets before adjusting carb or timing.
If formal and winter time, I grab a flannel shirt, should have seen me at a black tie event!!! USMC Dress Blues, It was the last time I got seriously dressed up... for a wedding, my wife is still my angel and always will be!
Thanks for sharing, I enjoy watching both channels! Y'all seem to have a lot of fun doing it and very entertaining, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New year too. "Howdy from Texas 😁"!!
Is the epoxy absolutely necessary? That makes it a irreversible permanent install on the intake. Doesn’t the carb gasket block off the extra holes in the adapter? Just wondering how a vacuum leak can occur with the gasket blocking everything off?
Like the song at the start. Will listen more closely to the lyrics 2nd time around. Place seems rural and the rest of the world matters little. As long as the gas, beer and electricity gets through! Fixing old V8 cars, with time and know how. Do the same my self. Cheers, to all watching as well.
Going back to Hot Rodding in the olden days carb adaptors were a pretty common item. Beginning with Model A Fords which had a 1 bbl. updraft carb. It was a common trick to flip the intake manifold over so you could use a downdraft carb. Not being happy with that, adaptors were made to place a 2 bbl. Stromberg 97 carb on it. That worked very well. By the late '50's every kind of adapter imaginable was on the market. including one to put a 4 bbl. onto a 2 bbl. manifold. If I had more time I could suggest how to adapt a large base Holley or Carter (Edelbrock to you) to an early small base manifold correctly. It can make a huge difference. Now it's time to get the correct Ball&Ball carb for the poor 318.
Question: do you think that I could do this to a 1600cc duel port VW engine? I was thinking of putting a 32\36 carb on my engine but the work and money to put in the right manifold is to much. Thinking of getting 1-2 barrel adapter for it.
@@ThunderHead289 So is there any reason to put a 4 barrel on a 2 barrel manifold? Is it any faster? or is the flow still limited by the manifold? or the need for mixture to flow around the throttle plates partly obstructing the adapter?
Probably too old of a video to get a reply but what are you considering "Sealant " when fitting the 4bbl adapter? Is RTV used as the sealant our are you mixing epoxy and using it? I have a Amc 304 I'd like to adapt a Edelbrock avs 650 to but I really don't want to spend $500+ on a 4bbl intake for it.
