For those who boot straight into windows you guys need to set kali first in the boot priority in the bios and grub will load so you can choose to boot into windows or linux
Just remember a simple principle and you will be fine. Install Windows first then the Linux. If you reverse the order of installation, you will have a lot of trouble. Linux's Grub bootloader and boot manager manages dual-boot well.
I wanted to ask, is it still possible to install windows as well after installing Ubuntu? But it’s just not practical because of how the windows boot manager operates?

@@wompwompcryyyaboutit everyone has come to this situation at least once in their lifetime so relax. first analyze the amount of devices you have and the disks you have in the target pc once done if you have only one pc. and that's the pc you are having trouble with don't worry. if you have done a standard installation, your boot still exists. you need to return to the boot somehow. once there don't do anything stay there. now you need a pendrive and an android phone. make sure you have it .. it's either you need this or borrow from someperson who has this or give it to computer repairs shop for money to which they will fully repair and give back .. but if you don't want to spend money continue reading so once you acquire pendrive and android .. there's an app that will boot a Linux system onto that.. once you have Linux system. install it in your laptop. now you have partly desirable but fully working laptop. this is much better than something that doesn't work next get the pendrive up and running with ventoy and then copy paste your desired Linux distribution and the windows.. then finally install but in the order windows first Linux last. bonus tip: windows disk partitioning is has better understanding than Linux calameres.. so make sure you carefully partition your disks within windows itself, don't wait till Linux.
@@sinthy08yes they can't live both on C drive you have to shrink your drive if you have no other drives, otherwise you can install Ubuntu on a different drive/disk

Even just a few tips on how to install programs would have been great. Thanks for your work though, without it I would have been totally lost.

I'm trying to install Kubuntu 23.10 on the same NVMe stick as Windows 11. I never get the screen that asks to install alongside Windows. The installer jumps to the partitioning screen and wants to use the entire disk. How do I get the Ubuntu installer to see the Windows partitions?

I installed ubuntu on another disk partition( free) but it still deleted my windows 10 but kept its files. Is it possible to reinstall windows 10 so that I can be able to access it's files while also retaining ubuntu?
I want my windows too, i have it installed in c:/, i emptied d:/ drive n made 100 gb unallocated, If i proceed with ,3rd option n goes to the partition manager, its not detected in same way as in windows. I afraid of windows getting formatted.
At 5:30 when I removed the pendrive, laptop restarted into windows without the grub menu. The grub menu is visible only for 1 sec now. Too short to choose ubuntu.

You can manually enter your computers BIOS by pressing a specific key or key combination on startup that varies depending on your computer. For me it's f12. Yours could be f11, f1 etc.
If I select "Erase disk and install ubuntu" will it prompt to select a disk or by default it will go ahead and format C:\ drive. ? Ubuntu people have scope for improvement user-friendliness here.

Check if you're safe boot is ON, it should be OFF. Also fix the order of boot. Hopefully this works.

You can do that, just make sure both disks are in the same partition scheme
