🚗 The Morning Commute: UK vs USA - Advanced English Podcast Episode
Description:
🎧 Buckle up for this episode of the Advanced English Podcast, where hosts Kat from the USA and Mark from the UK take you through their morning commutes to work. This episode is a fascinating look at the similarities and differences in daily routines across the pond, all while helping you navigate the language of commuting and workday preparations.
🇺🇸 Kat describes her routine of leaving for work, highlighting the importance of timing to avoid traffic and the process of finding a parking spot at work. Her journey, which takes about 30 to 40 minutes, involves navigating her neighborhood and then a straightforward route to her destination, demonstrating the typical American commute from a suburban area to work.
🇬🇧 Mark shares his experience of commuting in the UK, starting with leaving the house before the peak of rush hour to avoid the worst traffic. His commute seems to be shorter, taking about 15 minutes, but not without its occasional delays due to roadworks or traffic jams. Mark's description includes the British terminology for parking and the casual way of handling his work items, reflecting a more compact and immediate urban commuting experience.
📚 Throughout the episode, Kat and Mark explain various terms and phrases related to driving and commuting, making it an invaluable lesson for advanced English learners interested in everyday language and cultural differences in commuting habits.

Great! We hope you learnt some new vocabulary and expressions!
Make some videos on phrasal verbs please
We'll look into it!
Hi. What does it mean " i pull in to the driveway."? Can you explain it more. Thanks.
Good question!
'To pull into' means to arrive and park your car. You can also 'pull into the supermarket' : pull into the car park. You are stopping the car there.
The driveway is a space usually in front of a house which is for your car. It's usually big enough for 1 car, sometimes 2. When people come home in their car, they usually pull into the driveway. Hope that helps!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks very much for watching!

Good morning from my said in qater
Thanks for joining us!
Excuse me please, which one is correct :
On our lesson today or
In our lesson today?
Thanks in advance 😊
In our lesson today
In our lesson today we talked about driving to work.
Hope that helps thank you ☺️
@@highlevellistening I'm so grateful for you thank you very much 😊
I'm so sorry for disturbing you but can you tell me why?
Good question, perhaps
“In the lesson” is within or during the time of the lesson
We learned a lot in the lesson today.
“On the lesson” is talking about the lesson or the subject was the lesson.
She gave us a quiz on the lesson from last week. The subject of the quiz was last week’s lesson.
Hope that helps ☺️
@@highlevellistening That's great. Thank you very much. 🌹🌹🌹
When I need to use an app in my phone i might say: into the app?
Hi! In English we usually say "on the app". For example: "I follow the direction on the app" / "I set the directions on the app"
BUT we also say "I sign into the app" and "I log into the app".
Hope that helps!
