    I've been doing this very job on a 1.2 Corsa C so your video was helpful. The fuel filter was a complete mare. It was rusty and needed changing. I cut the filter off with some tin snips leaving the stubs in the pipes. I got the one on the return pipe off without any difficulty but the one in the feed pipe wouldn't budge so I ended up dropping the tank so I could liberate the feed pipe. The inspection panel under the rear seat made things easier when I was undoing the feed pipe from the fuel pump. Unfortunately, I ended up breaking the clip on the feed pipe so I've had to get a replacement from eBay. I've been doing a video of the service so once I've finished it I'll get it edited and post it up. The cost of the service parts came to about £65 for the engine oil, oil filter, air filter, pollen filter, fuel filter and spark plugs.

    Great video. My corsa is the same model as this. The service book showed it wasnt due again for about 3 months when I got it a few weeks ago but service light came on recently. Decided to do it myself. Total cost of under £50 including purchase of some tools. Thanks for saving me hard earned cash. :-)

    A tip I use when refitting spark plugs is to fit the tip into a short length of hose and use the hose to guide the spark plug into the engine. There's just enough grip to screw the plug down to finger tight and avoid cross-threading.

    Brill video.
    Got an 02 1.2sxi.
    Chain started getting noisey on start up.
    Serviced it with asdas 5w 40w and good oil filter and the chain rattle literally vanished! On the tub it says it's easy flow oil.
    Maybe a good tip for someone with similar problem.
    Mine just passed MOT, steering to the right is slightly heavier than the left but passed MOT fine.
    Used to have the 3 cylinder Corsa too, it was mint but failed MOT on rack and column and water pump. Was a sad day.
    Anyway enjoyed your video 👍

    Got the same car. It's only a 12 valve as its a 3 cylinder so impossible to be a 16v. Found that for a 1.0l 12v they surprisingly have a bit of get up and go until it runs out of steam.

    Hi I have never done a service on my car, I normally have it done from mechanics. But you have made it look so easy to follow. I have a Vauxhall corsa 1.2 litre 04 plate. Are the parts generally in the same place for all vauxhalls?? Thank you for the inspiration to doing my own service.. Just need the tools now, that magnetic plate is awesome...

    • @TheSavageGarage
      @TheSavageGarage  9 років тому +1

      It really is a very simple process if you have the right tools and knowledge :) yes the parts should be in pretty much the same place on your car too! think of the tools as an investment! once you've done one or two services yourself they have already paid for themselves as you would usually give that money to a mechanic! good luck and if you have any questions don't be afraid to ask me!

      on your car manual it's written the liquid capacities so u know how much u need ;) important is to choose the correct TYPE of oil according on your average weather. oil is essential to keep the engine well lubricated, don't go too cheap on it like a scooter.

    I've recently bought my corsa. I've noticed that sometimes it's a bit hard to go to first and a hear a bit of noise while reversing. I'm almost sure it's the gear linkage, 'cuz corsas are known for that.

      U don’t need axle stands, just drive onto 2 paving slabs with your front wheels, this gives just an extra couple of inches of extra height off the ground to get underneath and it is never gunna come crashing down on your head if u haven’t placed em right under the car lol
