Also wanted to add, if you set it to 720p on desktop, and you hit RSR and don't see a flicker (as of current drivers / implementation), it's most likely not working. I ran into that multiple times, just forgot to include it in the video. Easiest method is to just restart it, or go into the AMD control panel and try toggling it there. Definitely some weird bugs still going on, that hopefully will get ironed out in future updates. Don't forget to SUB if you like the videos, it helps the channel out a lot. See you in the next one :)

Hey man, do i need to change ingame resolution too? Or it is enough to just adjust settings via left side menu at the desktop? Thanks for these kind of videos btw, I gave u sub.
Hey, you'll want to adjust the in-game resolution when using RSR. So you'd want to use 900p or 720p so it can upscale. If the game starts at 1080p, you'll have to restart the game after setting a lower resolution for RSR to take effect. And thanks, glad the videos helped :)
U dont need restart the game org alt + R , just use alt+U to togle on off rsr , and overlay will popup, easy to know if it working or nok , i maping my ally micro + X , X secondry i use alt+U
You could assign the keyboard shortcuts to a "shift" layer in AC. So when you hold the back paddle and select a button, that button can run a list of "Combo" keyboard shortcuts. I'm using a program called reWASD, but it's a bit more complicated to setup. I am wanting to do a video of a deep dive on reWASD as it's amazing, so it's how I personally assign all my keys. The setup is somewhat frustrating though to learn all the in's/out's.
Nice video, but something that i dont get is what is the point of upscaling the resolution to 1080 if you set the screen resolution to 720 p? Because the puprose of upscaling is to actually see the textures on fhd
If you just run it at 720p it looks blurry and not very clear. With RSR or RIS (Radeon Image Sharpening) it makes the picture look sharper/better. You still get the performance of 720p, but it looks closer to 1080p. I use RIS and recommend it over everything else, it works at any resolution. Here is a video I made on it: ua-cam.com/video/at6RXXjpfB4/v-deo.html
RSR is amazing when it does work but it can be tricky to get working. Setting the game to full screen mode may help it more often to enable. Not borderless full screen, but full screen. Also that universal tuning program seems to work better forcing RSR on at times.
It does in the sense that you're running the game at 720p. It's scaling from 720p to 1080p, if you ran the game at the native 1080p resolution the FPS would be a LOT lower. I have a video coming soon that will compare 720p, 720p (RSR) and 1080p. So stay tuned and you'll see the difference in-depth :)
Thanks for the video, I spent the whole day trying to make RSR work, I already left the like. Now there is a pop up with the green check when I start the game, but in the AMD software app the same green check does not appear. Is there anything else I can try to do? Just wanted to be 100% sure it's working. Great video mate!
Hey, that is another issue I noticed occasionally. When trying to Alt+R it'd not show up properly. So the overlay when you start the game is what you'll want to pay attention to. As long as at the top right it shows the green check mark enjoy the game and you're good to go :). Also when you're in game, you can toggle RSR and if you look VERY closely at at the edges on the boxes in command center they will slightly sharpen (it's really hard to see).
Yeah, I made the video because of videos where people thought it was working because it showed "On". Basically stating it's working and I knew it wasn't. So I felt the need to create this guide just to help others :)
Thanks for the video. I wonder if it's normal that this software has been updated last time on the 14tg of June.... I am suspecting AMD does not care that much about the Z1
With the device being out for a month and still no update driver it definitely seems that way. I've been running a good amount of benchmarks on the current driver, so I'm pretty excited to see how good the new one performs once it comes out :)
720p. You can't change it in Diablo 4, you have to use Armoury Crate to set it. Most game you can set it to 720p and for RSR to work, you'll need to be at 720p in-game & make sure it shows 720p in command center.
I found 1080p - medium - FSR Off works good enough. But it really depends on the FPS you want to hit. 720p still looks good, I find myself switching between settings all the time though in every game I play 🤣
Wait, I thought you had to have the ally at 1080 with rsr on and the in game settings to be 720 in exclusive full screen or borderless full screen for rsr to work?
If you pull up command center and see "1080p" RSR is not working. And a lot of games I've tested, borderless or full screen have issues if you launched them at 1080p with RSR off then try to get RSR turned on at 720p. It's much easier to just start at 720p with RSR on. The setting is a pain IMO and is very inconsistent in the way it acts.
Thanks👍 Alt+R is a nice shortcut for the adrenalin software👌. I end up using RIS a lot more because it sharpens the 720p a bit and still lets me use the framecap (with rsr and anti-lag on the framecap doesn't work for me). I remember i wanted to give you a tip for the steam deck dock. I'm using the Jsaux adapter (to use with cases) for the dock. Its not too expensive and works really well. Don't need to use the paper stand from the ally. Keep up the good work
Thanks for the tip! I use RIS too. It works at 1080p as well, all resolutions work. I like RIS because you can toggle it on and forget about it and it just "works". RSR is a real pain in my opinion 🤣
@@filt3rless i agree. Rsr makes performance worse and doesn't simply work. Also that it messes with framecap it's really annoying to me as I'm mostly happy with 45fps-60fps and better battery.

But half the time I'm launching games I find it not working properly. I'll probably do an update video if RSR becomes more usable in the future.

Once you've enabled the In-Game Overlay, try restarting the system then launching a game. If you set it to 1080p then RSR won't activate. There is a guide in the AMD control panel when you click enable for the first time that shows you have to set it below 1080p for it to activate. Then RSR will take the 720p image, and upscale it.
I'm not sure, you could try it. I don't have Halo Infinite to test it out unfortunately. My guess would be it's how new the AMD chip is and not having proper driver fixes. I noticed glitching in emulation where I got a bunch of artifacts. Hopefully AMD releases a new and updated drivers soon :)

I'd suggest just using RIS, it's a better option IMO. Here is a video on using it and how to enable it: ua-cam.com/video/at6RXXjpfB4/v-deo.html
@@filt3rless isn't ris supersampling ? Might as well run at 1080p
@@noobsaibot2255 RIS is only sharpening, it does no supersampling or upscaling at all. And it works at any resolution, including 1080p. It makes 1080p images look that much better. Also you can use RIS with FSR no issues and get pretty good results: ua-cam.com/video/at6RXXjpfB4/v-deo.html. Also there is 0 performance impact from my testing with RIS.
Benefits of using RSR? Does it save battery etc?
You get higher FPS since you can run 720p. It upscales the image to "try" and make it look like 1080p. If you're looking for a good alternative there is another option called RIS (Radeon Image Sharpening). I'm going to make another video about it so stay tuned :)
Technically yes, it runs the game at 720p but uses trickery to upscale the image so it looks like 1080p
@@filt3rless Isn't Diablo a bad example since it has FSR and that's actually recommended over RSR for better performance? I was under the impression RSR is kind of meant for games that don't have FSR.
@@timaaaahhhh The best settings I've found is using FSR on quality with RIS (Radeon Image Sharpening). It looks really good with decent FPS. I prefer it over RSR and just using FSR by itself :)
sd oled can 15w 720p run d4 60fps
Question here: 1080 or 720p+RSR? Thanks!
I personally like RIS the most: ua-cam.com/video/at6RXXjpfB4/v-deo.html. You can toggle it on and it works at all resolutions, 720p, 1080p, etc. It even looks better to me. Try it out and let me know what you think :)
