Thanks for this! Just for info my 2024 Hope braided hose kit type 2 (non-universal) came with only one line on on the shroud. Haven't tried to fit yet but it fit easily over the uncut hose & was all part of the same kit.
Really useful video. Going to be atempting to fit braided hoses to my M4's / mini levers this weekend so this has built confidence! Cheers and hope yoru keeping well.
That's good to know, thanks! Hardest part I feel is the little olive that needs to slide on to the hose. Good to have a nice flat end screw driver or small pliers that open outward for that bit. They do snap easy though so be gentle. The other thing is don't go too crazy when tightening the hoses to the lever and the caliper. The copper washers will seal them so you just have to tighten them until you feel the crush washing being crushed. The caliper bolts can twist or even snap if you apply too much pressure. 👍
Hi, glad it was of use. Ah goodridge hoses they are quite different. In the UK you can get the parts on ebay - www.ebay.co.uk/itm/173628023556?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D1110006%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20200818143230%26meid%3D74609d6a1a06439ca3fedcb9ced8b76f%26pid%3D101224%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D5%26sd%3D173628048043%26itm%3D173628023556%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2047675%26algv%3DDefaultOrganicWeb%26brand%3DGoodridge&_trksid=p2047675.c101224.m-1 And although I have never tried it, might be possible to use the hope full fittings on the goodridge hose if the diameters are the same but that's a long shot.
Great clear video. Any knowledge of using the braided hose with Shimano components? Hope sell a type O set with "all the fittings", but I can't find instructions. There's a connector with a cone-shaped end that looks like it goes into the lever/calliper and leaves the appropriate end sticking out for the shroud. I assume this just gets screwed in and then the rest of the connectors used as normal?
Thanks for the feedback. I have not had any recent dealings with the Shimano stuff. From what I remember it's like you say it just screws into the lever. It almost works like a bleed nipple where the tapered end just seals without the need of any actual rubber seals or olives to crush and then you have a threaded end on it for the should to attach when then either clamps or threads onto the hose to keep it secure. The only issue for this is knowing how much torque is needed. I'd probably try and email some hose manufactures like goodridge and see if they can help. Generally with the Hope stuff it's 8nm but then they are stainless fittings and have a crush washer to seal. I'm guessing the ends look similar to this - www.free-ride.it/en/prodotti/goodridge-hose-and-fittings-m8-x-075-swivel-steel-retailers/
Just bought some hope tech v4s with braided lines, 2000mm long as standard i think. Any line cutter tool you'd recommend? also what is the name of that press tool? Thanx.
IceToolz Cable Cutter is what I use for the braided hose. It gives a nice straight edge. Needle driver tool is the press tool. Mine was just one I found on ebay. Yours should be a bit easier than the braided hoses in this video as these were older 6mm hoses which are very ridged & harder to work with. The tech 4 stuff will come with a much more flexible 5mm hose. So potentially you won't even need to trim the clear plastic coating in order to get the fitting/olive over the 5mm hose.
Excellent video ! Can you send a link for the vise your using for fitting? I am working on an atv here in Canada and finding a dyi brake line instruction is difficult. Maybe renaming your video to include small braided stainless steel brake line may help others find your instruction. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for your comment. The vise basically a generic eBay Chinese item, they are listed in the UK as "needle driver" but I guess they become a lot more popular as it was only about £10/£15 and now they ask £25 for the same thing.
When i tighten the shroud onto my levers the brake hose seems to twist ..... is this normal ? Is there a way to prevent the hose twisting while tightening?
Hi Yes that seems to be the norm, the brass olive will grip the hose internally and then spin it with the shroud. I would tighten the hose to the lever end first and then see if you need to adjust the banjo bolt direction at the other end. Sometime the direction of the bolt on the banjo needs to be swapped around so the hose is as straight as possible when attached to the caliper.
@@Chambers36TheEnter I understand this is going to be harder because my brake cable is internally routed ... I have a 2020 specialized enduro . Do you think putting a little bit of silicon grease around the olive before tightening onto the lever end will help it not twist ?

Don’t know if you’ll even see this comment but I’m desperate. Do the breaded hose and standard hose use the same olive and insert?

Does anyone know if the new braided hope hose is 5mm outer diameter? And no need to cut the plastic off the out side ?
It's 6mm and cutting the plastic outer helps a lot. Only need to cut 10mm or so.
@@Chambers36TheEnter thanks for the reply im worried it wont fit through my frame lol
@@justing6614 Oh internal routing, good luck. I had a Sonder Trasmitter with internal cable routing and had to use the 5mm black hoses.

thank you
