    Could you do a tutorial for the braded hoses? I found it impossible to fit the olive over the hose...which is far wider than a non braded hose.

      cut it with a dremel

    • @domverlander5360
      @domverlander5360 6 років тому +1

      It’s only 1mm wider hose, ensure you have a clean cut on the hose, I use a flat head screwdriver to open the Olive very very slightly and have no trouble getting it over the braided hose. Good luck

      It would still be good to have one. I read to remove the outer plastic down to the braid for the olive but from hope they come with the olive over the plastic sheath

      I agree, that's really frustrating! I've just come here to find instructions for that. I used screwdriver to open olive just a little bit to slide over but no success. In the end, when I bleed them, they are slightly leaking oil. I have one last olive, continuing to look for the best solution..

      just switch to genuine Goodridge fitting's (hoses are cross compatible, the same actually)
      no problems with them

    My experience - absolute nightmare! I would pay to see you shorten and install one of your braided hoses instead of the plastic ones. I have been through two olives already.

      I fitted a a pair of "hope braided hose kits" yesterday to my 2007 Mono M4s.... It wasn't too hard; other instructionals advise stripping the plastic coating off the braided hose to fit the oliuve, but I always found that didn't give a secure fit (hose is far too easily pulled out of the connector when everything is tightened up).... Instead, just open up the olive, put it over the end of a freshly cut braided hose (just have a little patience, it will go) then open up the hose inner and insert the plug (I find tapping the barbed plug lightly with a pin hammer helps get it in nice and tight). Then push the olive to the barbed plug, and give it a squeeze with a pair of pliers to close it up so you can fit the outer connector over the top of the olive. Once I found this method, it takes me no more than 10 mins to fit each connector with brand new olives.

    @hopetech I'm going to attempt to fit a new set of Tech 4 V4s in the next week or so, first time doing so. Is it essential to fit a new olive or can I use the one that came fitted on the brakes? I can't see any guides on fitting them with having to route one hose through the frame on your channel.

    ancient video...grand scheme of things, the braided was nearly as easy as plastic lines. Did a 3 x2 today, gently cut the plastic cover, cut with cable cutters, put the parts together. No leaks and works great.

      it doesn’t matter

    • @MD-uu5nt
      @MD-uu5nt 3 роки тому

      It really doesn't matter. I see people singing about where the clamp is constantly. I have never once seen a bike damaged by a clamp. They are coated with soft rubber.

    • @denesk2794
      @denesk2794 3 роки тому

      Bike's weight: 15Kg. My @rse's weight: 80-ish Kg. The dropper is fine.
      I wouldn't put an e-bike (22-26Kg) on a stand like that, but my normal bikes are fine like that.
      Tip: put the dropper all the way down and put it in a stand that the seat rests on the top of the stand clamp, and it also clamps on the seat post clamp and the frame. That way if you are tugging and pulling on a component you are not stressing the dropper.

    Can you keep the insert of the old one ?

    • @denesk2794
      @denesk2794 3 роки тому

      You should not generally re-use the olive (if that's what you are referring to as an "insert"). They are like crush-washer, so they are crushed and deformed when installed. They have to be replaced. Both the olive and the needle.

    • @clarkie005
      @clarkie005 2 роки тому

      You will get away with reusing the insert. The olive must be replaced though

    Don't use screwdriver for pushing out the pads. There's a proper tool for this (for example Parktool PP 1.2)

    • @stevesracingbits
      @stevesracingbits 7 місяців тому

      You don't need a special tool at all a flat head screw driver is absolutely fine, if you want to waste money on a tool that's upto you.

    • @Tenpisanka
      @Tenpisanka 7 місяців тому

      I used screwdriver for years and it's not that good as a solid tool designed for it. Screwdriver always leaves marks on pads

    • @stevesracingbits
      @stevesracingbits 7 місяців тому

      @@Tenpisanka then your too heavy handed or using to thin of a screw driver as I have used one for years and never marked a single pad.
