I have been doing my PVC at .05 depth. I run the Amanda 45 degree v-bit as the detail pass first at full depth and I get a clean edge. I run the roughing pass second with two passes to get to the full depth and this has been working flawlessly for me.
Thank you Steve, I will have to give that a try. I usually have excellent results. This one was a little hard. I also realized that the bit was dull. That makes a huge difference.
Thanks for watching! I would have stopped with the first bit had I not been doing the video. It looked great. The experiment was fun to do and hopefully everyone can learn from my mistakes on this project.
Trick with the Oramask is to take a piece of painters tape on the corner. Pull on the tape and it separates easily. I got tired of trying to hook it with my fingernail.
I cut PVC often with Oramask. I run 150 ipm, then I set the depth per pass .02 less then the total depth. If you paint the surface first, it’ll smear as it cuts even if it’s dry. The .02 clears it out. The higher feed rate helps clear the pvc nicely.
What is the masking material you use..... And where do you get it? I have multiple projects coming up (wood) that I need to do this same thing. Let me know... Thanks for your videos.
New subscriber here…I’m looking to be making a few pvc signs and I was wondering what kind of paint did you use to paint the pvc and how is it holding up after a few years?
GIGO in the world of writing code garbage in garbage out! The great part of this video you discovered and shared what the problem was. I think the video is a winner! In the words of Thomas Alva Edison “I have not failed I have just found 10000 ways that won't work” 😀🛫

Question, if you are carving an your enternet goes out, does your cnc machine continue carving or does it stop?
Yes, it will continue to carve. You need the internet to get to the computer. The computer then sends it to the XController.

Excellent idea. Thanks

I was carving out a design on my xcarve this morning , and the spindle ( router) stopped working? Any suggestions?
If the cnc is still working and just the router quite I would get that the brushes are worn out.
@@PawPawsWorkShop how long do brushes usually last?
About 150 to 200 hours. I have several videos on the topic including how to change them

I have used acrylic paint and also I use rust o luem paint. After spray with a good quality UV clear gloss and it will last for quite sometime
Are you doing a climb cut with your V bit?? That's the same effect as using an upcut bit. That's why your Oramask is rough around the edges.
Where do you get your PVC?
Home Depot and Lowes both sell these trim boards.
what are the dimensions?
