mate your videos are good, good to see, but the clown doing it in 2wd digging holes not so good, have respect for people coming after you leaving holes everywhere, you dont need big power for sand, just brains and low pressure
Just finished my 8th trip across the Simpson on the 5th of September
East to west
First crossing was in 1988 .
The last trip was in 2017 .
This trip the dunes on the east face were badly chopped up ..
Some of the holes are over 2 foot deep
The worst i have ever seen it
You destroy your vehicle to get over the dune .
All because morons tow trailers and attempt to get over in 2wd
I thought the kids were with Demi but they were driving bertos rig 😂😂😂 Win win having 2 mechanics with out of the gate personalities 😂😂
Mate..It's not that its hard on your car towing...you do more damage to the tracks and dunes when you struggle ....
man as much as your right I don’t think there’s a shortage of dunes or sand to fill the holes the problem is when people start doing stupid shit driving off the tracks and people getting hurt or close to it due to rolling there cars
Such a good episode. With the family, mates and cruising in the outback of Australia. Nothing gets better 🇦🇺🍺
Thanks mate!
PUT YOUR SEAT BELTS ON NUMB NUTS
this episode was damn cool TT, one of ur best. nice to c Burto n Shaun joining u guys on the tracks, hopefully this is the first of many. Timmy wud have ticked the final box.
Thanks mate!
Track got torn up a bit with all the no lockers attempts
rooster tails for the camera and anyone who followed for the next month…
gary doin it easy in the mux, tyler on icy pole duty, demi sick as a dog takin it in her stride, berto and shauny for comic relief... epic trip - cant wait for more..
Love the extra ‘behind the scenes’ insights that other channels leave out. Very interesting to hear about the economy and recovery cost.
Appreciate it!
Fun fact: the inner tube the kids were floating in at dalhousie was left there by myself back in July. Your welcome 😂
Bit sad last Sunday waiting for your vid to drop. Worth the wait though. Thanks for awesome content.
Cheers mate!
did Burto go back and fill all the wombat holes he created for the camera?
Otherwise good content mate.
The Boys in the Green GQ remind me of the two muppets Slater and Waldorf on the balcony on the muppet show. Maybe they are the grandchildren of those old muppets.
Looks like they had a great time.... we went thru there in July and you guys really missed some water... getting in and out of Mount Dare was unbelievable .
Awesome vid mate, that Lady of yours deserves a medal, tackling the Simo driving and being sick and looking after the little fella, Legend!
With all those Nissans, it was a very smart move to bring a gun mechanic along 😅😅😅 in all seriousness the drone shots were spectacular
You'll note Demi didn't bring the Cruiser. Didn't risk it even with mechanics along.
If your needing to hit the dunes at the speed of sound, your pressures are too high. I’ve been across the Simpson a number of times towing and it’s always 1st gear high range and just walk up the dunes
they were down to 10 psi. what pressure you run 2,??. plus, tyre size, gearing, vehicle, engine. those nissans only have 115 kw..
@@harrywalker968 You're dreaming if you think those Nissans only have 115kw. Better not to quote figures when you don't know what you're talking about.
Awesome trip and with not one breakdown in any of those vehicles and towing a camper, fantastic
Nice one 🤠👍🌏 good mates, not to commercial and still the right spirit !
Really always liked your dad very much, especially his voice reminds me totally to crocodile dundee, if he would were his hat he could be easily his younger brother, so cool 🤠
Fantastic episode guys Demi did well driving the big GU looking forward for the rest of the series cheers legends ☺️
If you're towing through sand a petrol car is better
???... why... diesels have torque, petrol dont.. my 4.2tdi not jap or u.s., has 700nm.. 510 std.. no computer, just a bit bigger turbo..
The red and green terrain in the aerial footage looks superb!
I suspect that your fave mechanic and his side-kick were the gems of this show?
Simply . . . . EPIC! Only 10mins in but looks truly amazing with the river out there in the desert!! Love your work tylzz 👌👍😎
We live in our desert here in Nevada full time. And it's also been wet the entire summer. We're coming into winter again with a green desert. Haven't seen that in the 6 years we have been out here. It's definitely made the wheeling alot more fun lol. But rain in the desert is no fun hahaha.
Awesome to see the 2 in the green gq.. thing sounds insane! Greate episode hopefully do more woth those 2
Short Man and his kid boyfriend are a bit disturbing......Seatbelts might be an idea QLD Police would love this video....
When you're on Big Red and you're ready to start making your way across 1300 sand dunes the first one that you see in front of you is called hell's gate and it's called that for a very good reason
one of the nicest 4wd trips you can do ,i did it back in 2019 in my factory original 86 hilux manual with split rims and 4ye engine only had to back down 2 sand dunes to get a 2nd run up and over the dune big red being one of them spent 2 nights in the desert and 3 nights at dalhousie springs because of how nice it was there
You done excellent to keep that content interesting 👍🏽.
The gq is sitting good now with that extra weight on the ass end.
🤙🏽
Your comments about trailers neglected to mention that it is trailers that chop the dunes up the most and make it more difficult for everyone.
We done the Simpson 3 2yrs ago with camper trailer no issue what I found is people not dropping tyre pressures enough
and Burto digging holes for the camera
Easy peasy is like a spell asking for trouble later. I will pray for you ...)))
Well the old boy is the only one who knows how to drive.
Well, if you know your history, NT and SA were originally one state. But the commonwealth stole it. SA not fussed I think.
Great video Tyler, just a note it’s illegal to burn native timber. Also detours are there for a reason…….not to potentially damage the tracks for future travellers
Great move you even got your own 24/7 NRMA mechanic 😂😂😂
Outstanding trip Lads.
Went the harder way , east west 💪🏼💪🏼 awesome to see Demi doing her way in the TB 👍🏽
4x424/7 just did this run in there old trucks think they was 80’s models it was a cool run
An offbeat query maybe a $$$$ rundown on all your's and Demi's 4bys
Sensational episode. ❤ This made me more excited about my own Simpson Desert crossing trip that I'm planning. Thanks for the tips at the end. 👍 So, with that burger, does this mean you're no longer a vegetarian?
I noticed that too - he also said he had meat in the freezer halfway through, which piqued my interest, then he chowed down on a meaty burger!! I believe all vegetarians eventually get sick enough that their body just screams out for meat. In my 72 years I've seen it quite a few times, the most disturbing case was my daughter's school friend - by age 17 her hair was falling out, constantly sick (not anorexic, though, ate enough lettuce leaves for a farmyard of chooks), and skinny as a rake. She eventually ate like a normal omnivore and got healthy.
Awesome video mate 🤣
We were the mad bastards camping alongside you guys on the motorbikes at Dalhousie.
After heading back into Mt Dare for repairs we crossed the dessert in 2 days.
Cheers for sharing 🍻
Yeah awesome mate, glad you guys ended up making it!
Young fella is tops on the camera👌
Isn't it amazing, technology we have, back in the day you wouldn't of had a drone. Would have all drove through on to all that water. That's adventure though! Drones are awesome 👌
A great video!
Just my 2cents worth on your trip. I completed the same trip in 2022, same direction and also towing. Though I appreciate the dunes may be a bit steeper, they were a lot smoother going east to west, so you can carry a bit more momentum... which we needed as we had a stock triton (3 days old) towing my 1.2T camper as my Amarok chewed a CV.
Triton did it easily, only getting halted once and the Amarok did the crossing in 2wd.
Keep up the work!
killer episode mate. 🙌
Flat top mountains, or giant tree stumps? 😌
You should have had a go at big red.........My last time across I did it in my 2004 Turbointercooled 4.2 GU towing a 2012 Platinum Kimberly.........most of the way towing a 2018 Jeep with his trailer as well !!.....it actually wasn't that bad......
What an epic Trip. Even better when the experience is shared with great company like you have. Fantastic. 👍
Try lowering the tire air to a pressure of 18 and enjoy driving without using four-wheel drive ...باترول نيسان 💪
That's amazing scenery. One question, are the roads or the tracks updated with the government or the council or they are there over years of 4x4s? Makes you wonder how they got through there in the 50s, the 60s, the '70s, etc. And how many lives must have been lost for being lost?
You have a lot of pictures with your hands on your head.
Haha, UA-cam 4wd channel rule 1. hands on head pose in thumbnail
Plenty more to come I reckon
And to think some expeditions were only done with ca🐫el‘s
😅😮😅😅🙁 that first sand dune on virgin sand would’ve of been like 😩😤 unbelievable.
Great video m8’s 👍
Nope, you haven’t been to two states in 30 mins. Northern TERRITORY is not a state. The sunrise over the dunes was very special indeed, few understand or get a feeling for how ancient Australia is until you see such beautiful vistas, it just looks 4 billion years old and millions as an actual island.
Strewth,,,,,, 16K to rescue a Navara! lf he sold the Nav to pay the account,,,,, it wouldn't completely cover it!
That tb48 is just coasting along
As they always do, best engine in a GU
SOLID effort by ALL. Demi 1000% amazing you sounded like you should be home resting. I think many of us have been waiting for you to get this type of trip done. Great crew to do it with.
I run 10-12 psi on the big dunes, towed a Disco with a dead engine over big red with my GU Ute. Worked at the Roadhouse workshop for one season. Saw lots of carnage 🤪🇦🇺👍
I was Travelling across the Pilbara and Kimberley - through the Gibb River, for the 2 weeks before this - winter was seemingly over - even around Tennant Creek - and through central Queensland, (as far South as I was camping rough ) on the way back, we never had any really cold nights - and had 31-34 degree days (not chilly at all in the daytime).. Newcastle was a bit chilly - when we rolled into town at 2am on the 25th.
A great video, ........my tyre pressures in all deserts in Oz are 12 psi Front, 15 psi rear, and 12 in our Camper, and will go down to 8psi if I have to.
All hot temps.
Tyler Thompson's learning.. always take Ur machinic with you on big trips 😂.. lov3 the content man.. also I have a stock 3L Ng pajero, what mods should I do
Hey Tyler what's going on are you broken down in the Simpson dessert or something? Waiting on your next video mate. Hope all is well. 👍🤞
Nice trip guys and gal. Very lucky the only water you saw was Eyre Creek. We went across last September and had so much mud and water it wasn't funny! Imagine Purni Bore to Mt Dare in 6" deep mud.
why is it the MIGHTY MUX. ??.. 8k for an engine mount.. yup, thats mighty good..
Why does the title say "TRIED" with a picture of you holding your head implying failure?
Awesome trip. Love to do it. Thanks for sharing. Especially the fuel consumption. It's on the bucket list.
Tyler old mate, you have ticked some boxes here and done a great track plus having a mechanical team backing you - well done mate…. I wish I had a couple of mates with mechanical knowledge to do the hard stuff !
Great vid mate!!! ❤🎉😂
Cannot believe bBerto had the balls tonta kle that river crossing .. . . .twice!! Fk me that looked so dicey!! You rcolled it very well Berto! 👍
Hit up Ruby Gab gorge east McDonald ranges , good drive in an not as busy as west 🤙🏼 keep up the good times bud
Haha that’s my car tying to get up big red at 5:43.
Great video mate.
The flies were stressing me out just watching! Dmax good on fuel, I don't think I get that sort of millage on the highway!
Really enjoyed. Thanks for the useful info (tyre pres/ fuel consumption, distances etc.
Excellent episode. I may have missed it but what tyre pressures did each car run, average and lowest. Cheers
Demi is quite the driver now Tyler she should have her own channel, your dad is not scared to point that little unit where the big Nissans go
10:19 for the rig we are all here to see.
I thought the kids were in with Demi, but they where piloting that the green GQ.
Nick needs to start a channel, he a funny bugger.
great video looks like an epic trip, youd definlately want to put the beers in the truck rather than the camper the way it was bouncing round at times haha
30 degrees through the day its hot? Come to Saudi Arabia honey it’s 50 degrees these days 🤣
Amazing content mate well done 👍🏻🏴
We found couple of Bigger Dunes out there in 2004,. Wondering if you found the same
Congrats on your trip ! interesting experience ☀️🏜️🌄🏞️🌳🛻😎🤙📹
i would love to tow my caravan across the desert because it was duel wheels and is very little heaver than many camp trailers so it would be easy.
Looks like you were doing it tough in spots . Remember, as you get lighter, keep lowering the tyre pressures.
Looks amazing flies look a bugger does look as it could be very boring after a while .
Wow well done, I’m sure it was great to finally get out and stretch the legs and back
Take a few steps back here. Tyler eating meat. Thats a first for his videos 😂
Great episode, very enjoyable, is the mux locked as well?
Love the episode Tyler ! Worth missing one last week that’s for sure
Those boys are good mate more trips with there attitudes and laughs 🤙 mad video
Guess I'll have to make the trip.
Or are they heat shielded? Otherwise they be bloody hot trying to top up fuel. Lol
Awesome vid......., thanks for sharing 🤙👍
Very nice trip and a bit different than the usual...well done mates
Where’d you find Australian Bert and Ernie? 😆
Awesome video. Coconut wells was beautiful 😍
Tyler reminds me of a young roothy😂, love the vid!
Guys c'mon. Chicken twisties not cheese......
So, I put of watching this one, I'm more into the driveway tinkering episodes and it was pretty long, watched it tonight, wow great, what could be better? out with the missus, sprogs, a few mates and the oldboy ! TBH I could have watched hours more of this, very cool. Question: why the heck are their so many flies? what are they living on?
Sorry, to add, really enjoyed the whole episode, nice editing, never boring just really well done.
Great trip, good bunch of mates. cheers
God damm, was so looking forward to this crossing once you announced it but you outdone yourself with excellent coverage of it for our benefit, thankyou heaps, loved the drone footage.
Wife & I, daughter & grandsons were out in the centre when that rain event occured, bucketted down big time.
Wife & I were proceeding to Mt Dare for west/east crossing, never occured as Simpson was locked down flooded, bugga.
Even when the desert dried out, the rains from far north Qld catchment area had the Eyre crossing closed off, six weeks was estimated impassable time frame issued by Qld Parks, so we gave up on our crossing of the Simpson, hence yet to experience it, so other than your crossing images, it's as close we have got thus far.
Have to say, all that water created a very scenic experience for you and us, your followers.
Again, thanks guys.
Cheers mate! Hopefully you guys can get back out there soon!
I learnt the tyre pressures had to go lower than I thought - Khumo MT71s that are not great in soft sand- and once I dropped to 10-12psi was much easier (Toyota Fortuner GX manual at 3000kg loaded…). 15psi was too high….
it all depends on the rating of tyre, 10 ply, ect. i had fc 2 dick cepek, didnt move till 13 psi.. km3 are the tyre..
If i had the money that would be on my bucket list
