    Alright folks, if it's too much for you, then that only means it is NOT for you. Yeah the wax is expensive as hell but I'm just watching anyways for fun. In no way I have any interest or any intention of getting the product as I understand very well it is NOT targeted for someone like me. He even said it so himself, it's a premium product. You wouldn't walk into a premium store and cry about the premium prices. I am watching this just for fun and out of curiosity. I can't afford it and honestly I don't think I ever will be able to, LMAO. That doesn't make it a bad product though. Someone out there is loving or is going to love having one of these. That's just how things work.

    Thanks Todd for presenting another product that premium. I notice that it’s difficult for end users to agree with everything you may suggest , which is ok, that’s where ones judgement on whether to buy or not is subjective. The cost of a Rolex or the price of a expensive wax, if it brings joy and value to ones life is a personal choice and we ought to leave it to that. The market truly is saturated with detailing product , wether one is truly more superior to another is subjective, perhaps you should create evidence based data to support your feedback will support your expertise. I still believe you are the gold standard when it comes to detailing.

    • @Esotericdetail
      @Esotericdetail  4 роки тому +3

      Thank you Marco for your reply and adding of some perspective on the subject. As for evidence-based data, we're very limited on what can be provided that would add real-world meaning. For polishes, pads, and techniques, we have the DOI meter that provides completely unbiased, unquestionable data, and it's a shame that most product manufacturers don't even use them. There are some testing standards that can be done to evaluate durability and such, but that's limited to very expensive equipment in a laboratory to get valid data points. We see people testing durability by applying "chemical X" to see what breaks down first, but there's no validity to that whatsoever. If that product never sees such a chemical in the real world, it means nothing. One product can outlast another in real world environment, but lose out in a battle where chemicals are applied to it that they were never designed against. I also write reviews for the high-end audio market, and in that world there are a lot of measurements that can be taken, but even that only provides so much. The problem with it, is that there are (unfortunately) many people who think those measurements are gospel, and would make a purchase strictly on these small data points. When talking cars, you wouldn't base performance conclusions simply on power output and/or power to weight ratios. If one did, then on paper, my 755hp ZR1 would absolutely destroy the new C8 Corvette at (only) 495hp. But in reality, it's not even a tenth of a second quicker from 0-60. With a pair of expensive speakers, you can get a baseline and draw some conclusions on sounds based on measurements, but measurements can't tell you about imaging, soundstage, depth, etc (what most people perceive as the most important aspects of sound). And with something like a wax, how do you measure the joy of use, the ease of use, or how it makes you feel when having it on your car? Prestige and premium products in many cases add an element to the experience that simply can't be quantified, and trying to throw a mathematical equation to it to evaluate its value simply doesn't work. I'll leave you and the other readers with one last analogy that I used many years ago in a review I did about a different high-end wax: You can buy a $25 garment bag from WallMart, and you can buy a $2,500 garment bag from Louis Vuitton. When you get to your hotel, your clothes are going to be equally wrinkled in both bags! But even with that, Louis Vuitton is still selling an awful lot of bags because the prestige and how it makes people feel...

    Hi Todd, could you tell me the difference between this and their standard high gloss paste wax? I noticed you guys bundled it with a different spray as well. Is there a reason for that? The reason I ask is I’m used to paste waxes and liquid waxes but am curious about the best options out there for the absolute most gloss. The cosmic spritz spray stuff seems interesting as well but I’m hesitant as I’m not a pro by any means and paste wax seems less “permanent”. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    • @Esotericdetail
      @Esotericdetail  4 роки тому +1

      Don't be intimidated by the Cosmic Spritz, as it is as easy as can possibly be and not like a traditional coating. As for your best looks, that comes from machine polishing the paint. No product that you put on top of it will make the kind of impact that proper polishing will. But all things considered, the two different products may come down to the simple consideration of whether you prefer natural carnauba waxes (Jubilee), or synthetics (HGPW). You can't go wrong either way.

    Thanks for great content. Just so I'm clear, the reason to buy a good wax - which costs $$$ - is because there's an enjoyment/satisfaction derived from the application process, as well as many possible applications with your purchase, but the tangible benefits compared with a sealant or other coating is either similar or generally less (in terms of durability and protection)?

    • @Esotericdetail
      @Esotericdetail  4 роки тому +2

      I would say that is part of the equation, yes. It doesn't matter what you're into...watches, cars, stereos, boats, photography, or waxes...the ranges from beginning prices to the top of the line is vast, and you're always going to have diminishing returns. Each person needs to decide what is important to them, and purchase accordingly.

    Hi, have you done a before and after gloss meter test?

    • @Esotericdetail
      @Esotericdetail  3 роки тому

      Trying a gloss meter test is pretty much worthless on products like these. On our $4k DOI meter, that includes gloss, topical products barely push the needle at all. An inexpensive "feel-good" gloss meter may give you a reading that you like to see, but those don't hold much credibility for the kind of testing and evaluation that we do.

    Hi Todd. I think you are one of the most knowledgeable guys on you tube and in the real world of detailing as well. But why do you only sell Polish Angel/Kamikaze etc.? I can't find much of a selection on your web site for a paste or liquid carnauba for under $50 that isn't one of a very limited brand selection. And please don't say b/c they are the best. There are way too many wax choices on the market to just have those few available. Thanks.

    • @Esotericdetail
      @Esotericdetail  4 роки тому +7

      Thank you. Polishangel has an excellent sub-$50 spray wax that we offer in Rapidwaxx. But to answer your question, we don't have them available because those manufacturers don't make them. We are very selective in which brands we sell, and what we sell is typically based on what we use in the shop. We've never taken the grocery-store approach of adding everything to our lineup. We want to keep focused on specific products and brands, and we're not going to simply put a few products from a manufacturer just to fill a certain price point. There may come a day where our business model changes, but for now, we choose to stick with our beginning roots of a premium brand.

    I just don't understand the pricing of some of these waxes. I would put my Collinite Marque D’Elegance that I have been using for years up against any of these ridiculous pricing of some of these waxes. Personally I think much of it is a marketing ploy. Made in small batches, put it in a shinny fancy can, give it a serial number...what's up with that?...I can see it now, well Officer I had this can of wax stolen but here's the serial number for it, he'd probably have a good laugh & think I was crazy & charge as much as they can for a product that is short lived. Ha, makes sense to me...NOT! For this kind of price you'd think this wax should last at least a year. I guaran-damm-tee you if I waxed half of my car with this stuff & the other half with Collinite you would not be able to see any difference in gloss at all. Many of the people I know & some of them are VERY wealthy would never pay this kind of money for a product that doesn't have any better longevity than a much cheaper wax. Expensive doesn't necessarily mean better. I realized that many moons ago.

    • @Esotericdetail

      It just proves that there are products for all people at all levels. A Rolex doesn't tell time better than a Timex (actually, it does worse of a job), but they sure do sell a lot of them. If a person is interested in a product like this, and it makes them happy, then good for them. If your Collinite works well for you, and makes you happy, then good for you. It doesn't make one person right and the other wrong, it simply provides choices to go with your specific tastes.

      Target market. If it seems too costly for you and not worth it, you're obviously not the intended target consumer for the product. Expensive doesn't always mean better is correct, and is a common knowledge. But you've got to understand some people just have more money to blow on items they like and are WILLING to do so. That's great. Rich folks spending money on expensive shit is great for everyone involved. Ordinary or even rich folks spending money on affordable, quality products is just as great for everyone involved as well. Some things are just none of your business if it's beyond you and that's just the truth about it. It's for other people; not me, not your rich friends, and not you.

      Jubilee is a traditional carnauba wax, whereas High Gloss is a synthetic. Some people may prefer one over the other. For the Jubilee kit, we team it with a spray wax as a maintenance product. For the High Gloss Paste Wax, we team it with the sprayable High Gloss formula. As for Cosmic Spritz, don't think of it as a "permanent" product like a traditional ceramic coating. If you're looking for all-out ease of use, you can't beat the Cosmic Spritz / Primer Spritz combo. But if you enjoy occasionally applying a traditional paste product, then you have the Jubilee or High Gloss to choose from. I hope this helps.
