Just make sure you get the correct form and also be aware if you have sensitivity to nighshades. Also extended use without breaks has been found to lead to emotional numbness and anhedonia. Probably best to use it as needed every once in a while. KSM 66 is the best form
Hi there, our herbal expert says that Ashwagandha may potentiate the effects of the thyroid medication thyroxine. If you have a thyroid condition, use only under the direction of a physician who can monitor your symptoms. Please reach out to education@standardprocess.com for more information.
My mum and Nan always suffered from hypothyroidism. I had blood tests during a period of depression but always came up borderline. Now I'm in my early fifties not suffering from menopause too bad due to low carb and intermittent fasting but had alot of stress last 2 years but getting better. However I have been left very fatigued. My get-up-and-go got up and went. Still wake at 3am tho. I have ash powder but didn't know how to measure amount. My scales won't measure that small. Any recommendations how to measure dose?
Hi Mike, although traditionally ashwagandha has been used much longer, most clinical studies in healthy individuals have assessed safety for between 3-6 months of use. It's best to check with your primary health care provider who can monitor your progress and continue to assess whether herbal treatment is necessary. Visit WholisticMatters.com for more education.
What is the best time to take Ashwagandha? Should it be taken after a meal or before a meal? My goal is to take it to keep my mind calm, stable, focused and stop it from racing. I want to be able to focus on my job - I spend hours working in front of a computer all day long.
Hi there, our herbal expert says that Ashwagandha appears to have a lowering effect on cortisol when under chronic stress, and most clinical trials indicate that this occurs after approximately 6 to 8 weeks of taking it either once or twice a day. Clinicians often recommend taking it in the morning and/or in the evening with the aim of optimizing its activity to your symptom picture or to cortisol's natural circadian rhythm. Whether you have eaten or not should not make a difference as to its efficacy; however, historically it has been consumed along with milk or ghee (a fat containing food or liquid) which was considered to promote its beneficial effects.
