Kava: The Peace Elixir

In episode 9 of our Special Series on Medicinal Herbs, naturopath and medical herbalist Amanda Williams joins our host Sara Le Brun-Blashka, MS, to talk about kava (Piper methysticum), known to many as “life essential,” “peace elixir,” and “root of happiness.” Kava comes from the South Pacific islands, where it is deeply rooted in the culture and customs of the people who live there. It is traditionally drunk as a beverage, or people chew the roots and spit them out. Amanda emphasizes the safety of using kava, which scientific evidence from clinical trials supports a number of uses!

Kava is banned in my country along with other natural medicine such as kratom, khat and of course cannabis. Sad times

Just saw that kava was banned in UK a few years ago. I had no idea till today
Big Pharma doesn't want anything around they can't control or monetarily benefit from.
U would be charged if caught with it??

@@michele-33 Yeah Irish name but I'm from England. Literally everything is banned here it's so stupid and frustrating. Especially seeing people in the US use all sorts of fluorinated amphetamines and Canadians using LSD Pro drugs and my government won't even allow me to smoke weed lol.

@@WholisticMatters the kavalactones per pill are super low. Previous recommendations for tablets have been 250mg so it would be five pills. Why not just drink it? The mg dosage is much higher.
