The real life bear lived for 30 - 45 minutes after ingesting the drugs, from acute cocaine intoxication.
The film is loosely inspired by the events surrounding a 175-pound (79 kg) American black bear that died after ingesting a duffel bag full of cocaine in December 1985. The cocaine had been dropped out of an airplane piloted by Andrew C. Thornton II, a former narcotics officer and convicted drug smuggler, because his plane was carrying too heavy a load. Thornton then jumped out of the plane with a faulty parachute and died. The bear, who died sometime after consuming the cocaine, was found three months later in northern Georgia alongside 40 opened plastic containers of cocaine.
The bear is currently on display at the Kentucky for Kentucky Fun Mall in Lexington, Kentucky, which named the creature "Cocaine Bear" in 2015.
The film's plot differs from real-life events in a number of ways. Notably, the real-life Cocaine Bear is not known to have killed anyone after consuming drugs, and what transpired in the time leading up to its death from overdose is unknown.
In an interview with Variety's Adam B. Vary, Banks stated that "this movie could be seen as that bear's revenge story."
that's a long time considering how much cocaine it ingested so as far as bs "based on actual events" movies go, this isn't so bad. Much bigger lies have been told on the screen.
RIP Pablo Escobear, that poor animal dint deserve that awful ending.
Not sure if u seem tucker and dale vs evil but if u haven’t u should watch it. I think u would like it.
Christian Convery (the boy you thought was hilarious) is in One Piece! He's young Sanji!
how the fuck did i not recognize him?
He's also Sweet Tooth.
Holy shit, that WAS him!!
Fun fact: The only non-human animal to be nominated for an Oscar was Bart the Bear for his performance in the movie "Bear" from 1988.
Christian Convery who played Henry also played Gus in Sweet Tooth. Him and Stache (Aaron Holliday) are my two favorite characters.
Glad someone else recognized him; Sweet Tooth is such an underrated series. He was also in one episode of the live-action One Piece series
RIP to the legend Ray Liotta.
If the sequel doesn’t feature the OG bears I hope it is set in Russia/Alaska with Polar Bears and the title is Cocaine Bear 2: White on White.
Elsa (Olaf's girlfriend and first victim) is played by Hannah Hoekstra who is the face model for Aloy in the Horizon game franchise
At one point, she mistakenly calls Olaf "Christofer"
for my surprise, this was such a fun movie. a little boring in a couple scenes, but in general, it was a a good movie, dumb and fun.
cant wait for the sequel, Cocaine Bear Cub.
“Can you imagine watching this movie high?!”

I saw this in theatres and it was so fun. By far the best movie theatre experience I've had in years.
The real story would have been.... Bear eats cocaine and dies of overdose. That's it. But you can't make a movie out of it.
Many thanks to Nerdy & Clarus! 🐻 I love this one. All hail to director Elizabeth Banks.
Yogi, the ranger isn't going to like this.

The humour and horror in this reminds me strongly of Z Nation
If you liked the kid who played Henry, I highly recommend you watch him in the show Sweet Tooth.
Saw the movie today honestly not bad and Ray Liotta last film I believe.

"The only holes of yours that are pure."
So, not even the ears!? :)
I actually finally watched the movie so that I could watch your reaction. You didn't disappoint and your reactions and facial expressions made it even more funny. I wish I had watched it with someone because I think it's the kind of movie that benefits from the shared experience.
Loved your reaction to this movie, was lucky enough to watch this in a packed cinema & it was wild!
It's good seeing you having a great time. :D

Thanx for covering this. So fun!
RIP ray liotta
All i hoped for was something in the echelon of Ghost Storm or Sharknado, and it definitely hit the mark
I was a bit disappointed by this movie. I felt like it couldn't decide if it was a silly action comedy or a family drama. I really just wanted the silly action comedy. Those parts of the movie were great. The rest was kind of boring.
Hard disagree- I loved most of the stories. The subplot with the cop and his dog was out there though, but I adore that actor.
@@samanthaa.6055 to each their own. I think the people I saw it in the theater with liked it more than me. Nerdy said he liked that it wasn't shlocky, but that's what I wanted and expected.
Nerdy! Cool Pal World Shirt ....
