Tbf the aunt is literally a horrible surrogate guardian, so it's not like the therapist is wrong about the aunt's inability to parent Katie (even if she was unnecessarily judgemental about it). Literally the entirety of the movie proves the therapist was absolutely right to mistrust her--something that even Megan calls her out on.

@@ccasserole5267 Nobody discredits that, though. She wasn't prepared to suddenly have a child because her sister suddenly died. I would think anyone who is by themselves and focused on their career wouldn't know what the heck to do if they suddenly gained an older child they never really hung out with.
But the therapist was being judgmental as all heck. She criticized her for not having toys for Cady when she had only just arrived there. She was there for a hot second and didn't even convert a room for her yet because of how suddenly she arrived. As well as criticizing her for Cady being in her pajamas, when they were just lounging at home. Children will normally stay in their pajamas if they aren't planning on going anywhere. Heck, even adults stay in their pajamas if they aren't going anywhere yet sometimes. There were plenty of other things that she could have commented on but instead she chose to nitpick and invent problems. When she could have used common sense instead to realize the girl just arrived there. She got on Gemma for trying to lead when she was steering the situation toward her own narrative.

I'm still not sure if they would face prison over that. Maybe they would. Intent matters a lot. For instance if a bridge fails and kills people, who is really liable? The company usually gets sued and has to pay millions of dollars, but are criminal charges filed against the designers? They would have to be able to prove intent or gross negligence. Maybe it wasn't the design but the materials that failed. Likewise, maybe Megan had faulty components. Maybe it was the dog attack that destroyed the inhibitor chip on her neck (wink wink, nudge nudge, smilie face).
Fun movie regardless, and enjoyed the reaction as always.

I know this reaction has been awhile, but I'd love to share a few things in thanks to your humor and down to Earth reaction. I worked R&D for Dell Computers in the 90's, so I can tell you that development costs are nowhere near the production costs. Nothing is mass produced, all parts are milled from scratch and therefor is costly. A typical price index is production costs can equal about 8 to 10 percent of development. So a 100K development can result in an eight to ten thousand dollar product once volume is considered into the equation. A production unit that can make 30 androids in two hours is much less costly than taking a week to make one android by scratch. When I designed a new computer system, the motherboard in development could cost around three to five thousand dollars. The machine it took to produce 100 boards ready for testing and builds put it at around fifty five bucks per board, and then the company would retail it for twice that. Megan would have been very affordable in the long run.

You are 100% incorrect. The psychiatrist absolutely could take her that first visit. She does not have automatic custody, she is her Aunt. That is the reason she had to sign all of that paperwork at the hospital. She was agreeing to take temporary custody and everything has to be approved by a psychiatrist and a judge in court. The entire process takes 6-9 months for anyone who is not a parent of the child. If you are not prepared to stop EVERYTHING in your life and become a parent, then you don’t sign the paper work at the hospital, and you don’t take her home with you. She did both. She also continued to say, “she’s not my daughter”. While I understand, again, it probably wasn’t her plan to ever have a child, she accepted the responsibility. The psychiatrist was not out of line at all. How do you think this little kid feels in a new house, with none of her things. The first thing she should’ve done was take her out to get stuff to decorate her room, get some new clothes, and some new things to do around the house (toys and such). Again, she didn’t. She brought her right to the house and told her not to touch her collectibles. The next day, she handed her an iPad and disappeared. Even after designing M3GAN she doesn’t watch the two of them at all, and she gets bit by the dog next door. She is lucky as hell that I wasn’t on her case, because guess what- that girl would’ve been removed immediately that very first day. Some people want to be parents and have what it takes, and some people just don’t. Wealth has nothing to do with it, it never has and never will.
BTW- She wasn’t being passive aggressive at all, she was being assertive. Passive aggression is when you are hiding your feelings and not showing them. Assertive is acting forceful and confident, even when you have to confront an issue. If anything the aunt is a little aggressive when they aren’t playing with the toy the correct way. The psychiatrist even removes the aunt from the situation to directly ask her some basic questions after seeing some major flaws.

That therapist thing is very realistic a cousin of mine had an accident with his baby and they were going to take her away until everything was investigated so my aunt took over taking care of the child and when that person came over to check and see if she was fit to take care of the kid for a bit it was awkward just like that. They're not there to be your friend there they're only for that child plus it said the therapist talk to the grandparents. You could assume since they already raised children already it would make sense for them to have Katie maybe that's what the therapist thought. it f***** up everything because the sister wanted her to go to Gemma Gemma also said they were weird so maybe they would try to hurt Katie (shrug). I wasn't involved like that but I watched the situations sometimes when I came out of my room to get food or whatever very similar lol. Also the movie is kind of sped up in a way you can't really see the time that Katie spent with Megan as well. But it does tell you that a week has passed or a month has passed or what not so you have to assume the therapist was there through out the entire thing but they only show her parts when it was important. The main character wasn't tess or cole it was Gemma Katie and Megan. I love this f****** movie I would have made it a black mirror episodic show that was built toward the movie. But m3gan 2.0 comes out in 2025 I hope they don't hold back. Megan should be the main character now. I hope they show how she thinks basically she's just an overcorrection due to bad programming that became sentient.

I actually take this film fairly seriously, despite some of the consciously campy moments. It touches on a lot of serious issues (but in a fun way), especially the consequences of allowing an incomplete self-learning AI unlimited access to the internet and to children. (Giving the robot body great strength is also a terrible idea.) There is danger in advanced generative machine learning which humans cannot fully comprehend or understand--and probably never will. The AI here (literally, the android M3GAN) displays exactly what researchers are noticing in real life encounters in 2023, that is, a "power seeking" tendency in the task-solving behavior. The funny parts where M3GAN sings is an attempt to solve a problem in a way which has seen success previously. The final singing attempt in the last scene is, for me, much more creepy and accurate than funny. To M3GAN, every encounter is an attempt to update the data model and algorithms in order to complete the task of protecting Cady, which includes the task of surviving in order to better complete that main goal. I had a tremendous amount of fun, don't get me wrong, but was also genuinely terrified as I watched the AI struggle to figure out the proper behavior--and make conclusions based on the effectiveness of violence. It's a brilliant and timely (and sometimes hilarious) story. (93% on Rotten Tomatoes feels about right.)

This is a reaction video. I’m not watching them watch a movie in silence. It’s the assumption the viewer has already seen the movie. We want to see them react and comment on it in realtime.

@@Californyuhh As a viewer of the reaction part, there's certain things in the clips they show that I want to see them react to..And they miss it due to running their mouth too much. Having mini conversations...And doing that breaks up the impact.
I never said they shouldn't talk at all.

So Nerdy, the "rated" version you never actually see any gore, blood and etc, not really (except for the elevator scene). It cuts away right before each time. First time seeing it like this O_O

You know its not a doll, right 😂 M3GAN is played by 2 actresses. One is the body, with a mask on (the eyes were added later). The other is the voice. The little girl who is the body is a professional dancer, that is how she does all of the stunts and odd moves that M3GAN does.

Kurt's death was better, story wise, in the [PG-13] version. I kinda wish they would have kept that shot and just added the blood affect, but M3GAN slicing was in the trailer.

Yeah.. this movie is surprisingly fun. Can we give a shout out to Amie Donald? She's the girl that played M3GAN. Her creepy contortion skills made this movie possible. Bravo Amie!
PS... I was an extra all through the 90s. Signed with Central Casting in Burbank. I fake partied as well 🥳

i definitely agree about the therapist, the parents died suddenly, out of the blue meaning Gemma has to take guardianship of a girl with little time to prepare herself, it takes time to process all of this

37:20 Well, you can buy a lifelike adult-sized doll that can also talk (and moan) already irl. ^^ So now you know.
So far it's just face of these dolls that's moving though, rest of the body is just a regular realistic sexdoll.

Loved the reaction guys. Much love. Also if I may add, the scene where Brandon gets run over by the truck, that is not part of the unrated, it is in the 13 rating. The close up of the rest of the ear finishing the ripping off and the power washer scene where you see her face coming off were on the unrated.
