Hare Krsna! Chanting is not only the prayer but also the response to prayer and service make so busy that it protect us from maya. Thanx prabhu ji
Thank you Prabhuji. Chanting of the holy name is a prayer as well as the answer to our prayer. Devotional service itself is the answer to our prayer.
Thankyou prabhuji.
Full committment! Nothing holds a devotee back, A devotee of the Lord holds nothing back.
Hare krishna Prabhuji very nicely explained the concept of bhagvan and we are the servants daso ham.. also jnana can become pratikul and anukul to bhakti was very important.....best was chanting as prayer and fulfillment of our prayers...thanks
Hare Krishna, nice points about jnana that is favourable and unfavourable to bhakti, how chanting the Holy Names is a prayer for the Lord's mercy and also a fulfillment of the prayers, and that the philosophy that we are not the body shouldn't make us hard-hearted and insensitive towards others' suffering. Thank you very much.
Hare Krishna!!!!
Hare Krishna, PAMHO. Thanks for nice class, I liked this following nice realization:
Our prayers to the God are accepted in the form of devotional service.
Devotional service is itself an answer to our prayers for Gods favor and it comes in the form of devotional service so that we render devotional service to Him.
We are accepting favor of Lord and by accepting favor of Lord we grow in spiritual advancement for our ultimate goal Golaka.
Bhakthi is the best process. Chanting of the holy names is simultaneously a prayer and fulfillment of prayer. The devotee prays to engage him in Lord’s service which also means telling Lord to purify him and at that time Krishna Himself comes as the holy name and by attentive chanting a devotee is actually worshiping the holy name.
Mercy of the Lord is engagement in devotional service and that way we will get protection from being bewildered by maya.
-- In bhakti, there is knowledge, taste, and grace. Only in bhakti all the three are possible.
-- There is pratikul knowlege and there is anukul knowledge.
-- In bhakti prayer itself is the answer to the prayer.
nice lecture on how bhakti and surrender to krsna is easiest way out of this world
Those who go to Brahman are not satisfied because there is no reciprocation. But those who realize Bhagavan do not come back to the material world.
When we chant japa=> prayer “please engage me in your service” => purify me so I can go back to you and serve you eternally=> when we pray in this mood=> Krsna manifests himself as Holy name=> by chanting we serve krsna=> chanting is both prayer and the goal/fulfillment of the prayer.
Hare Krsna. Jnana can only have ultimate value if it is used within the practice of Bhakti. Otherwise it is unfavorable to understanding the Absolute Truth.
This mantra is an excellent example of acintya bhedabheda in action. Soham asmi - impersonalist will use to say that I and God are same. Rupam kalyantamam - persoanlists will use it. Soham asmi refers to qualitative oneness.
Chanting is prayer and fulfillment of prayer. Nice!
Wonderful Lecture on Devotional Service....
krishna rama
One aspect of Upnishad is Vyavharika i.e. Impersonalist : So ham asmi (As I am)
Parmarthik aspect is Achinta Bhedabhed : Qualitative oneness & quantitative different
Beyond Brahma is Bhagwan
Bhagwan is most auspicious realisation
How the lord maintains the devotee and everyone & everything else.
So ham asmi- How the living thing is one yet different from Lord.
The favour if the Lord is sought by this prayer to be fulfilled in pure devotional service.
Impersonalist : Brahman is Absolute truth, when it takes personal form temporarily, it comes as Bhagwan.
Personalist : Bhagwan is Absolute Truth, from where effulgence comes as Brahman
Bhagwan says I am the foundation of Brahman.
Bhagwan is most auspicious realisation
BG 9.21- When they have thus enjoyed vast heavenly sense pleasure and the results of their pious activities are exhausted, they return to this mortal planet again. Thus those who seek sense enjoyment by adhering to the principles of the three Vedas achieve only repeated birth and death.
He is the highest (Beyond Brahma & Parmatma) and the best (because they need not to come in death & birth cycle) destination.
He helps devotees by bestowing grace (By rapid spiritual advancement).
Person has to come out from well.
If he uses ladder and try to come out from his own efforts which is difficult meyhod is equivalent Karm Kaand.
If he uses a rope & try on his own is equivalent to Gyaan Kaand
If he catches rope & rope is pulled by other devotees on the mouth of well then effort is minimum & it is easy process which is equivalent to Bhakti.
BG 8.14 : For one who always remembers Me without deviation, I am easy to obtain, O son of Påthä, because of his constant engagement in devotional service.
BG 9.13 : O son of Påthä, those who are not deluded, the great souls, are under the protection of the divine nature. They are fully engaged in devotional service because they know Me as the Supreme Personality of Godhead, original and inexhaustible.
BG 7.19 : After many births and deaths, he who is actually in knowledge surrenders unto Me, knowing Me to be the cause of all causes and all that is. Such a great soul is very rare.
When knowledge (That I am Soul, not the body) comes, taste develops by practising devotional service and lastly with the grace (mercy) of Krishna we get ecstasy.
BHAGWAN:
Bha : Bharta means maintainer
Ga : Guide/Leader/Creator
Wan : To reside (reside in every where & everything reside in him).
So ham to Daso ham :
Oneness in quality may be emphasised at times but that doesn’t deny difference in quantity.
We are finite & Lord is infinite.
Aatm Jnana: Devotee knows to self
Ishwara Jnana : Devotee knows to Ishwara
Aiktva Jnana : Devotee rejects this
Jnana Pratikool to Bhakti :
Aspect of Jnana Adverse effect
Constitution Oneness denies eternity to Bhakti
Application Hardening of heart
Destination Merging (End to Bhakti)
Devotee relishes bhakti, it will be disaster if he thinks of oneness. Devotee has soft heart for lord. & he also doesn’t treat body as maya.
Jnana anukool to Bhakti :
Aspect of Jnana Beneficial effect
Constitution Emphasise subordination to Lord
Application Stablise bhakti practice/ stabilise mind’s restlessness
Destination Enhanced appreciation of Lord’s glories
Krishna manifest himself in holy name. Chanting is the prayer and fulfilment of prayer also (Because we chant to pray to engage in his service).
By chanting, don’t expect supernatural events to check Krishna’s presence.
Miracles are not criteria otherwise circus would have been testing ground.
One personin USA said to Prabhupad that he see bright light when he chants, Prabhupad replied more you chant that light will go away. We are not chanting to see the light.
Would Caitanya Caran Prabhu comment on this quote from the purport in regards to the discussion on the jivas' original position and whether or not it is nitya(i.e. some say it has no beginning, not generated, and no end, as in "na tvevaham jatu nasam""jiva bhuta sanatana"; others say it has beginning but no end, it was generated and was never with Krishna)? The quote:"The all-pervading feature of the Lord-which exists in all circumstances of waking and sleeping as well as in potential states and from which the jīva-śakti (living force) is generated as both conditioned and liberated souls-is known as Brahman. "
so ham to daso ham!
I see how this mantra is a favorite of both the impersonalists and Vaishnavas. The loss of bhakti is the greatest disaster potential disaster for a devotee.
thank you prabhuji.
