Induction cooktops are the future. They stay clean because they can't burn spills, they keep our kitchen at home cool and the galley cool because they don't radiate heat, and they are safe because stuff doesn't burn in contact with them. Thanks for this excellent video.
Thanks for taking the time out to chat with me today. You've helped convince me that a big cat is where it's at. Beautiful boat, beautiful family, and beautiful passion. Wishing you a lovely stay and then safe travels as you continue on your journey.
Your battery story is wonderful. A song I hear over and over again. Good for you‼️✌️✨. Having owned a 7.5 Kw system on our home, we did discover that regular cleaning on the solar panels and having them raised up a bit, allowed them to perform better than their rating. A fresh water rinse is essential. . Emma, you look fabulous ‼️ Happy for you. Make sure to wear the retainers diligently. I did and made a great difference........long-term. 🙂. . Love the helm hard top,yet curious you did not include a slider or clear portion to view sails. Know you always have a plan. ✌️👍✨ Great episode guys ✨ 💕 ✨ ✌️ ✨
Ah, now I get how you guys stay so slim and trim. You SHARE the platter of Linh's delicious cooking, whereas I initially saw that as a single serving ;) . Great job!
Teal, the skills you have never cease to amaze me man. You are a very smart guy, and I love to watch you do your thing. Linh, I love to cook too, but I am more of a BBQ guy, cooking on grills, smokers, cast Iron and Dutch Ovens, but the food you cook is always amazing. 👏 Emma, you have the most beautiful smile, good thing you have awesome parents who take great care of you, and Compass, well, you are just the most awesome and cutest navigator in the world! Great family, thanks so much for taking us along.
Hello There, I love the channel and just wanted to let you know that I actually got to see your boat today. My wife and I were at the marina looking for a slip for our new boat and I happened to see a big old catamaran and I could see "basi" from behind the dinghy and I was like no way. I went down to the gate and I could see the name as big as day. Was not entirely sure until I could hear compass barking from inside. Your boat looks incredible and I hope that we can get ours looking even a fraction as good as your. Take care and fair seas.
"Compas, you get down," says, Teal. Compass gets down walks around to the other side of the table with Emma and jumps right back up during breakfast! Haha! I love you Compass! You got that perfect little dog attitude! Dad didn't mean stay down just get down from him! Hehe! What a great way to live!
Basik looks amazing! It really all looks better than I imagined. I think it's time to enjoy all your hard work. It's a good thing Emma got her braces off. I predict a 100 episodes of big smiles all around. It's time to really go sailing!
Can you run air conditioning, with new added array of solar panels on the hardtop and over helm station. If so you have it all? Maybe a small diesel generator would be added for bad weather conditions? Emma’s smile is super beautiful. Good parenting Captain Teal and Linh! She is your treasure. 🙏🐻
Can't wait to see how the lithium and inverter perform with the induction cooktop...That's a huge draw. Looking forward to some sailing south and warmer weather I'm sure. Safe sailing :)
Teal, I think the lithium batteries were one of the best mods you have made to date. I didn't see your solar panels up yet, but I did see the frames for them, you must have them now since the batteries are fully charged each morning. Great job, can't wait to see you all out cruising the world. I have been waiting years for time.
Great to see the new power plant up and running Teal. Been following this with interest, as I've started my own project to make my cat more 'off grid friendly'. I've found 2 x 200W panels that take up less space than my current 'roll out' (2.5m x 40cm)68W one. Really old tech! I'm sub'd to DIY Solar UA-cam channel and I'm going to do one of his builds, a 280Ah lithium battery using brand new Eve cells for around $650! That'll be the same size an half the weight of my 100Ah lead acid! We need a bit more oomph out of an inverter to get to 240V @ 50Hz over here, but I think 1KW will do me to charge my laptop and power tools.
Hehehehe Teal is the MAN! And Linh is beautiful with or without face cream!! Of course why wouldn't Emma be the most beautiful of all!!?? Wonderful family, great shows... happy sailing!!
Elated the solar system is now more favorable to allow for a cook top for Lihn to expand her cooking. Emma you've always had a beautiful smile. Your teeth look great! I missed the 'lil fella. Where was Compass? High paws to Compass! I like that fan like thing you measured the wind speed with. I could have used one of those a few times here over the years. Especially when winds gusted up to 200mph on Grandfather Mountain, N.C., & my shed blew over all to pieces.(Grayson County, Va.) Or the day my porch roof blew off. The winds get strong out on this ridge. Have a good week! See you next week!
Glad to see it all worked out so good. Teal, you are so neat man, your work is a credit to you. Linh, you kook so happy with all your work and you need to put a brick on Emma's head to stop her growing!! WOW, what a beautiful young lady she is. Takes after mammy in the looks dept! Anyway, A massive congratulations on all the work you have completed and that includes EMMA's teeth. Again, I can't state enough how her whole face has changed, I suppose it's because she has matured so much in the past year. Keep up the great work guys and am looking forward to seeing the "cooking lessons" on the new stove. Luv you all guys and thank you
Emma's smile is awesome! Glad the new batteries are working so well. Congratulations to one and all on a 1000 jobs well done and looking forward to new adventures on the horizon.
Induction cooktop SAFE hand and body distance is 18 inches from cooktop because of the field it emits. I’m on an off grid system about the same size as yours and I went for the cast iron electric stove top, VERY SAFE to use and hasn’t changed my battery SOC because most cooking is during the day when the panels are producing. Please investigate and keep your invaluable cook Safe and healthy. Aloha, Jerry
The boat is looking fantastic! So now you can sail down to Southern California - but there's just one problem. Instead of sustained 30, gusting to 38 knots, you'll be experiencing sustained 7, gusting to 10 knots, oooh. And speaking of power, I have another project for Teal, fabricate a new prodder for the sailplan. Then you can fly a symmetrical, an asymmetrical, a screecher or a reacher for extra power in light airs. Hey, how hard could that be? LOL! And when you're in a marina you can set the prodder upright and out of the way. It's time for some fun, get out and do some cruising guys!
Look forward to the induction stove series. I am also in the process of changing over to lithium, and for sure want to switch to induction stove and air friers. A number of my cruiser friends have already done this and all I keep hearing is that it is a complete game changer.
Teal must have been very hungry! That pastry left the serving platter and went straight to his mouth. Congratulations on a wonderful smile Emma. And, the sail pack looks awesome. Happy seas folks.
I remember well when my braces came off, very embarrassing, my pants fell down. So please all the power situation is going well, cabin top looks great. Emma is growing too quickly. Love to you all.
Great progress, Basik Crew! Hearing the words “heading South” sure got my attention! Look forward to seeing how you mount the rest of the solar panels. Yes, available power equals boating independence 😁. Now, let’s see the creative canvas work to protect the helm. Super Lazy Jack and sail pack! Nice sewing! (I love your video style and tempo! Super editing!)
Congrats on the the LiFEPO4 Change over. I chose Eve Prismatic 3.2Vdc x 280AH cells for a 24Vdc bank at 80/20%... they yield useable 2.5KW. Since Papillon's systems, AC/DC combined only use 300 - 750 Watt hours daily depending on usage. I have an Excellent Margin not even counting my 500 watt 60-72vdc at 7 amp Solar Array.... Off Grid is Amazing
Great Installs....love your work having had Boat Service business and being a retired Surveyor!!! Love your Vids....too bad your wife is always so hesitant to help you.............................LOLOLOLO.......
We have 400 watts of solar and AGM batteries on our Gemini 105M and I use an induction hot plate for most of our cooking. I like cooking on gas too but have found induction to be great. You need the right pots and pans but they heat up quick and it is nice to save the propane for cloudy days or when I need the oven. I also like sleeping at anchor and find I wait all off season for those great deep sleeps I get at anchor. If I could only convince the dog to sleep in a bit.
Hey guys, I've seen you down at F dock.... gorgeous boat! Nice to see you upgrading the power systems. I work in solar... at SunPower. We're actually located in the Ford plant behind you. Best of luck to you.
Make that dinghy last until you get to New Zealand. The OCTender fits your bill. Made in NZ; light weight, strong, storage pockets for organization (fits your OCD), useful rowing oars, low planing speed. We carry half as much fuel now when cruising with an OCTender over our old RIB. Enjoy! ⛵️🇨🇦🇳🇿🥂
Your electrical system is amazing, I can see you're stoked, as well you should be! And nice job with the editing, non-linear like Chris Nolan or Tarantino.😉 Hi Compass!
Yay! More good stuff on the internet. 🙂 I don't know why but I've really been wanting to see the mini hardtop over the helm. It looks great. Congratulations on all your accomplishments. Have fun.
I couldn't take it anymore. My tequila supply ran out so I had to watch again. And I must say, my wife and I did braces for our son and we know how uncomfortable the braces can be. Job well done, Emma. Your orthodontist did a great job. Beautiful smile. And I want some lemon breakfast rolls. Hahaa
Looks good guys glad you got your braces off Emma if you look into some electric motors teal then you totally be off the grid you get anywhere with that one I would think you guys are great have a good week
Wow ! So many accomplishments. I hope you get two mini wind turbines someday with all that available breeze. I would love to know how much rainwater you can collect off these new tops. Did you use any UV-resistant coating on the dinghy ? Smooth sailing and thank you
beautiful smile Emma, they look perfect, Linh never stop cooking has you make my mouth water with your recipes that you do, are you teaching Emma how to cook ?
Going induction - cabin will stay cooler, much cooler. cooking will be faster / more controlled, when you get the new pots / pans get the kind with removable handles - then the pots will nest much better - handles store to the sides, there is an "induction pad" that can go between a pot and the hob so you could use NON-induction cookwear, A silicone cookie sheet (roll up) can go between the pot and the glass - it will not scratch, cleanup is very easy, and pots will not slide around with waves, heeling, tilting.
I saw that, Bad Teal. Lift and set with your legs in a Squat position. Those old batteries are heavy and you bend over to set them on the dock??? that can easily throw out your back again....
not to be a sour grape...but Wind Turbines are very noisy....and to really produce good usable power...it has to blow 25-35 all day...not us sailor's cruisers favorite at anchor...and I have been by many boats with wind turbines and I couldn't SLEEP with what sounds like a giant WEED WACKER STRINGS NOISE...hahhahah...lol....maybe a Vertical would be more Quite and also more conducive to a Sailboat install since it is Vertical...but all in all a good idea...any way to get more POWER...Right! Cheers....!!!

Love the helm hard top,yet curious you did not include a slider or clear portion to view sails. Know you always have a plan. ✌️👍✨ Great episode guys ✨ 💕 ✨ ✌️ ✨
Your electrical system installation is down right beautiful....and thank you for your component listings!
Our pleasure! We are glad you like it!
Ah, now I get how you guys stay so slim and trim. You SHARE the platter of Linh's delicious cooking, whereas I initially saw that as a single serving ;) . Great job!
Lol, most of those goodies ended up in Emma's tummy. Teal and I aren't much for breakfast. 😊
@@linhgobenyt Well, that explains the recent growth spurt!
That infinite power and induction cooktop is going to be a game changer! A real go anywhere boat!
But that monohull in the background of the parting shot. Simply beautiful.
🤣🤣🤣👍
Beautiful smile Emma! congrats on being brace free! 😊
Beautiful family teamwork! Emma is one lucky young lady and her smile looks perfect. Great video this week!
Teal, the skills you have never cease to amaze me man. You are a very smart guy, and I love to watch you do your thing.

A cook top. Great another project. The sailing footage was awesome.
I'm thinking just a plug in induction cooktop. I'm ready for more sailing ⛵😊
@@linhgobenyt Teal would be bored with sailing. He needs more projects. Has he mentioned building a new boat, maybe one for Emma?
