The Christmas Game PRiME T-Mac & ROOKiE LeBron Put On a CRAZY SHOW!

- December 25, 2003 - Tracy McGrady got the best of LeBron James
this time. He's not making any promises about the future. "He's unbelievable," McGrady said Thursday. "He's not 18. Can't possibly be. If he continues to work hard and stay hungry, it can be ugly. It's scary how good he can be. You just look at him, man. The poise that he has out on the basketball court. The confidence. He has that swagger." So does McGrady, whose 41-point performance overshadowed James' 34 points in the Orlando Magic's 113-101 overtime victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

this nigga LeBron came in the leauge beasting smh definitely a once in a lifetime player
truthseeker89 for life Carmelo and Wade was a beast during their rookie season though. On top of that Carmelo almost beat Bron for the roty.
Yeah he was more competitive in his early years than hes been in his later years
People quickly forget this type of LeBron. He's been like this ever since, and he was until he joined LAL. People indeed had strong recency bias and quick to discredit how great players were, esp LeBron.
I think we all just need to accept that father time is unbeatable. The narrative that LeBron is still in his 'prime' at Year 17 is bs. We all should acknowledge that he's declining (although very slowly) so that we would not be frustrated to him in his last years. Tho I am an AD fan, everyone unbiased NBA fan will agree that it's AD who lead LBJ's last championship.
@@kapitantiago2805 ad never lead any team he didnt know winning he is lucky lebron chıose him for young players to Lakers
@@madmajor5396 AD couldn't lead the Pels
Kobe wasn’t lying when he said Tmac play just like him but just taller. All of his moves reminds me of Kobe
Kobe couldn’t guard him tho..... and Kobe said T-Mac was one of his hardest competitors
jordan breeded all them moves
Tmac was alot smoother, his long frame made all his moves far more majestic. Prime tmac was far better to watch then prime Kobe. Kobe had a better career, less injuries. But tmac was a special fast Burning light for his two best seasons
All that bc of Jordan.
Tmac is better than kobe that time..
Tmac was unbelievable. One of the best talents who ever played the game. Too bad he was injured and finished his career to early. He had the same level of jordan, kobe and lebron.
Church
You meant the same level as Jordan and Kobe. You can't put bron on the pedestal with Jordan and Kobe LOL.
@@malakiyahamari8448 Evil spirit
@@malakiyahamari8448 yeah true, that's because LeBron James is actually above all of them. T-Mac's my all time fav. player, but Jordan and Kobe ain't in the same level as Goat James.
@@xx1j u sound foolish. U must be 13 yrs old. No way u saw Jordan and Kobe play and still think lebron is better than them. They are miles ahead of lebron offensively and defensively
Good God everytime i watch T-Mac in his prime days it really break my heart to see such an outstanding player like him ended up his career without any ring. Kobe once said T-Mac was unguardable, that is so true. Great player recognize another great player. How can you guard a 6'8 guy who have a tons of skill set in his arsenal. T-Mac can jump, can shoot, can cross you over or passed the ball like an elite playmaker. What i love the most about his game is that he has the most elegant & sublime shooting movements from any other players i ever seen
same goes for D-Rose
He was 6-9 but yea Kobe said once “he is me but 6’9” lol.
Kobe shut Mac down though, at least once. LAL vs. Orlando 2003-2004 season. Staples Center. 4th quarter. Rewind the tapes.
On this date in 2003, Antetekumpo, Kawhi, AD, KD, Steph, Luka, Westbrook, Harden, Lillard, Kyrie, and Tatum (just to name a few) were kids who had bedtimes that were enforced by their parents.
Today, LeBron's still considered to be greater than those players I mentioned are...now let the longevity of Bron's relevance and greatness in this league sink in.
@Versatile Wolf 🤣 it's true
I think the most underrated part of his game is his passing! I saw so many dimes. The vision to hit all the Different angles, bounce passes, and some drop offs.. 41 and 11. 60+ points came from this man having the ball!
JVG mentioned this that people overlooked TMac's passing ability
Two of my heroes. I was a T-Mac fan before I idolized LeBron. Two people why I started loving the game of basketball.
What about Kobe , I know he influenced you to love the game!!??
Same bro Tmac still my fav all time
This is the kind of stuff that LeBron did in his rookie year that proved to everybody that he was the real deal. He went head to head with prime TMac as an 18 year old kid and even though the Cavs didn't get the win...Lebron showed up and showed out...he didn't disappoint anybody....
Tracy Mcgrady... One of the most skilled offensive weapons we've ever seen. This is probably prime TMac and Lebillionaire Bron came right into the league and was competing with him....also very crazy. Wish we could've seen a fully healthy career for TMac, Penny Hardaway, Grant Hill, Amare Stoudemire, Gilbert arenas just to name a few..
That James kid has a promising future.. I'm pretty sure he'll be an all star someday.
Nice one there bud! Maybe, oh maybe he might be the greatest of all time in the future? You tell me pal!
Young T-Mac was insane.. this dude was a scoring machine, shame injuries plagued his career
We're not going to act like LeBron didn't have 20 of Cleveland's 50 points at one point in the game, as an 18 year old rookie, lol. Cleveland was 🗑️. He straight carried their asses as a rookie.
McGrady was incredible. He had range, driving, and post up ability. It's a shame he wasn't as dominant towards the end of his career and never won a championship. If he had, he would have been in a few conversations.
T-Mac so good, so smooth and effortless, folks thought he was lazy
T-Mac was one my favorite growing up even sported his kicks
How do you not get the ball to LeBron on a game winner unreal
Remember the other cavs players cant accept that 18years old carry that team..they are no.1 haters of lebron..
T-Mac was special. I loved watching him vs Kobe as well.
Lol that last 3 was uncalled for by Tmac. Had to go for 40 lol.
Lebron and its favorite spot on 3pt line are in the corner and he still doing it that nowadays
Yes I watched this game, was rooting for T-Mac.
People in the future will look at Tracy McGrady's career stats and won't think much, but at his peak, he was an unstoppable scorer who could do it all. Easily had a Hall of Fame peak.
Everyone suckin Tmac off but lebron was only 18 in this game goin toe to toe with what Kobe considered his toughest matchup
The commentators energy was the best
did he grew like 1-2 inches taller? i mean Lebron because he looks a lot taller today.
tracy smile guarding lebron shoot tree!!wow lebron rookie
Sf/Sg/Pgs Dr. J then Came Wilkins then MJ... KB24 Grant Hill Carter TMac Bron DWade just phenomenal Talents 2 watch
Rookie Bron was a top 5 player in the league already
T-Mac was real!! But, young LeBron was letting that thang holla too. His jump shot actually looks more fluid to me here than it does at times now.
Imagine a world with prime T-Mac / Derek Rose / Yao Ming / (may be Dwight as well), without injury.
Mac was unreal these yrs premiere player in the league unstoppable scoring i thought he should have been a Knick we would have gone to the finials with T mac. Camby, Sprewell, M. Jackson, Allen Houston with McGrady. could have been a lethal top 5 in that era..
Game's like this there are no losers
Back in the days when LeBron has no haters
Nah, he still had em.
They was having fun calling this game 😂😂😂😂
T-mac's dimes when he goes down hill were too good, you just don't expect them.
Lebron was 18 years old my fucking goodness
@Versatile Wolf shut up idiot
Absolutely fucking ridiculous. Games like these are a reminder of this man's perennial greatness
T-Mac gotta be the one of the most likeable ballers there's been.
Dude is NICE.
Lorenzo Franco never met a nigga who hated T Mac
FastMoney Willie FUCK TMAC
FastMoney Willie Just playing tmac is a beast
They better like him cause T Mac was instant Buckets...Nobody could guard him.
Clinton Walters I met tmac yesterday at a basketball game. I said wassup tmac and shook his hand. Tried to take a picture with him but he said no.
Man Tracy was such a fucking beast. A lot of people even thought he would be condsidered better than Kobe at the end of both their carreers. But then injuries fucked him up. He would've been a Hall of Famer without the injuries.
T-mac couldnt get out the 1st round in the playoffs and he still is a future hall of famer. If Yao Ming could get in then anything is possible.
Bean Town Yea honestly if Yao can get in then I think players like Dwhight Howard, Curry and Kawhi could get in the HOF if they retired TODAY! All of them have at least one MVP or DPOY award.
People were comparing T-Mac and Kobe between 02 & 05 and that's it, it's like when people were comparing LeBron and Melo between 03 and 07. No one was saying that McGrady was better than Kobe or would be considered better than him at the end of his career, this is not true.
T-Mac was a bad boy, 6'8 with long arm and mad skills but it's not Hill or Roy we are talking about when it comes to injuries.
T-Mac had 10 healthy years including his prime but he just never has that will and was a terrible leader.
+Nas Heisenberg true stuff
FACTS!!
Prime Mcgrady was one of the best offensive weapon in nba history
Chill Bill44 facts
James Harden...hold my beer.
@EricD989 you're stupid. Harden is one of the best scorers of all time. His MVP is absolutely ridiculous.
You’re joking right
@@sonofaballer96 not even close, Harchoke cant even come close to T Mac, put harden in the 2000s with cluged paint and handchecking and see what happens.
Is it just me or Lebron's jump shoot actually looks much smoother in his early career?
because it was

+Sasuke Uchiha penny he would but the others yeah he couldn't
kobe even said tmac was his hardest opponent.
Man, T-Mac was unstoppable but the amazing thing about this match-up was that this was only the 2nd month of Lebron's rookie year, he was only 19 years old and dropping 30 bombs!
Seeing T-Mac score effortlessly is like a work of art
3:30 one of the most underrated plays in NBA history.
I seriously can’t believe this play doesn’t get more recognition.
'That was the combination of Michael Jordan, Dr. J and George Gervin on the same play!' - the announcer :))))

Dude was too damn smooth..
Lebron was that good as a rookie. Take that in

We're lucky you weren't playing against MJ in the finals back in the 90's.. who knows what would've happened to him AND his career.
+Young Emperor LMAOOO
B. Carmine (Kobe)
B. Scalabrine He got hurt in his prime, and never recovered.
B. Scalabrine he did reach full potential injury just messed him up
I’m from the Tmac Kobe Vince Iverson Era, they were all in their primes at the same time basically. Best time for basketball and to make it even sicker we got blessed to see Bron Wade & Melo come into the NBA right when all those guys Were ripping up the league. I always had extra respect for Bron Wade & Melo for being able to compete at a high level with all those guys from Rookie season and beyond no let’s ups. 2003 best draft ever.
From the players to the announcers, this was a beautiful time for the NBA.
McGrady was such a speacial player to me, only because I've never seen a 6'8" player move the way he did w the ball... during those times, that was unheard of.
Is there one that does now?
@@icedmosquito109 Lebron, KD, Embiid, Giannis, Paul George, Tatum, Lamelo … A lot of 6´8+ players move like him, just look at Lebron in this video, do you see a difference with T-Mac ? His jumper look just as good and smooth, same for his lay up, he is even faster, jump higher and is just as agile as him. So your answer is in the video, open your eyes and stop being biased and listening to narrative made by the media like Lebron can’t shoot, even the host said ironically « Lebron can’t shoot ? » 🤷🏾♂️
those are some loud ass rims
unaffiliated look at who was dunking the ball.........Lebron James Tracy McGrady
nuff vids rims were changed in 2008 to 180° collapsible for more scoring. gone are the days where teams would tighten the rims against opposing teams
It's called breakaway rims
DemiGod Jus point is that the equipment is in place for easier scoring
@@juanfigueroa9148 bro who told you that ? Very wrong
Am I tripping or did none of lebron's jump shots even hit the rim..

That filayyyyyyyayyyyyayyyyyyy
Kenneth Donnelly sooooo you’ll never saw Dr. J’s reverse layup?
“Lebron James, only 18 years old, was the first one in the gym today.” That man has worked his ass off his entire career.
@Versatile Wolf weirdo
Prime T-Mac was unguardable , up there with Prime Kobe
No he wasnt
A game against t mac that where Kobe got the name black mamba
Scalabrine was far better
Over prime Kobe
Kobe said that the toughest player he was matched up with and hard to guard (with the exception of MJ) was T-Mac. Healthy Prime T-Mac was nasty.
John Saunders, RIP
Really appreciate the upload man. Keep up the good work.
Was just about to say this, sad:/
Ditto here RIP JS
thanks for honoring him dawkins keep up the hood work

Lol, Bron really still doin it since 2003. SHEESH. Now you have players in their prime that are good for 2 years and kids call them the goat.
Jerald Batac Right it’s messed up nowadays
James harden is one of the ppl your talking about.
Good and all, but the thing is that MJ is the GOAT.
@@theguy9150 why not bill Russell? Just curious
ASMR CARBON cause he played against no one? When there were like 5 teams? Cause in that time he had the best team by far?
TMac was a real problem back in the day... If he stayed healthy I can't even imagine the implications
best lebron play
T Mac was a great player. Way too many injuries ended his carrier.
Too bad tmac never became champion. Thanks tmac for the memories. I had his jersey too.
BRIAN TICAS stayed with both of em on
Tmac came so close winning a tittle with the Spurs in 2013. I wish he would of stayed with the Spurs in the 2014 season thats when the Spurs won the title over the Heat. Tmac one of my favorite players
Coz Tmac is aint a vocal player and good leader in the court like Kobe and Lebron. I don't see Leadership on him. He's just scoring...but he Can't lead.
At one point T mac was better than Kobe. Dude was a killer. Smh them injuries are no joke
Never better
Never better than kobe and Kobe played thru injuries

Who remembers getting hyped up to watch those Lebron High School games then those games his rookie season? I remember when he came in the league, he certainly brought back a lot of popularity to the NBA after Jordan left(the Bulls version). I remember being in High School on Christmas break with the fam watching this game. Man those were the days...
B Mile people forget the insane hype around him before he even played a game in the NBA
FastMoney Willie yeah this dude is king James from day one
Brandon Myles I remember watching these games I was about 20 years old.
His highschool games attracted far more people than the cavs games before drafting lebron.
McGrady was a beast man
Now think about a 18 year old rookie playing almost in the same level like a veteran , yes that's right, that's LeBron for y'all haters.

Sad thinking we won't ever get to see mcgradys career play out without all those injuries. Dude was such a beast, would have been top 3 players of all time
Micky Thao I love Tmac but don’t exaggerate. Top 3 over Magic, MJ, and Kareem? Hell no. Tmac didn’t accomplish anything compared to those guys. He’s not even a top 10 scorer.

Great video! And Rip John Saunders!
Those teams were straight booty, look at the records 😂😂
Cause it was more competitive during those times. Now a days they are trash including sorry ass Lebron James
+aj contreras also the supporting casts for both teams were trash.
No, back then the cavs were a trash team with Lebron trying to carry them for most of his early career.
The Cavs the year before this were one of the worst teams in the league and Magic were on a massive downfall unfortunately at the exact same time TMACS career was. And the east was much better during theses year with New Jersey Boston pistons killin it.
That's because the NBA was more competitive during those times

There was a time you could say T Mac was better than Kobe, and people didn't tell you to GTFO. Shame he got hurt so much, he was GREAT. Go check a T Mac dunk mix, holy shit, you can see the Vince Carter family resemblance.
nigga he just said there was a time you could debate it
Haha yeah If you search up old forums of Tmac vs Kobe debate from 01 up to 05 people were actually debating who was better. I wish I could link this 1 forum which had a poll voting Tmac as being the better player, ofc by fans.

I went to this game with my family. My brother had a T-Mac shirt an I had Lebron's. When the game was over, punched my brother in the face because I was mad that the Cavs lost.
I was here... Was me & my brothers' Christmas gift. =)
Came in the league as an 18 year old fresh out of high school playing better than 90% of the rest of the nba in 2004. Referred to as a guy who was pass first, extremely athletic, a Swiss army knife who they say couldn't shoot and wasn't a scorer. Was drafted to a team who never was supposed to win. He was the chosen one to suffer from greatness as an all time great who will spend most of his campaign and reign in the most cursed sports city of all time. While Jordan was losing in the first round at 22, while Kobe was 22 being sidekick to 3 time finals mvp Shaq to win 3 titles...22 year old LeBron was leading the worst roster in history to the finals without a sidekick against a legendary big 3. People said he didn't have a killer instinct but without a killer instinct he did what players with that killer instinct did as well if not better than they did and was able to feed his brothers first by facilitating. He gets flack for involving his teammates in the game. As the planter gatherer waterer and hunter he was able to bring home an all you can eat buffet 3 times as the leader of his pack and bring home a feast 6 more times between Cleveland and Miami. Playing the so called wrong way while being labeled the best all around player of all time, he proved he's the goat but needs 13 more points to be 4th in all time scoring and is 10th in assists as the only non pg to make that elite list of assisters and the only player to be top 10 in both. Right now he's growing impatient as do all greats who are hungry to win more rings, he expects the best of his teammates and of himself.
Well said
KinG FitZ also, Karl Malone has more points, rebounds, blocks and assists than Jordan. No one is saying Karl Malone is better than Jordan. CUMULATIVE STATS DOES NOT MAKE YOU THE GOAT, I REPEAT CUMULATIVE STATS DOES NOT MAKE YOU THE GOAT.
