as another performing artiste, she looks like principal material to me - she doesnt look stressed and overly focused on getting the technique right, rather the technique is already there, she's relaxed and completely in character. that is incredibly hard to achieve
@Mexus Nexus - why Ingri A's telling the truth is "being salty"? She worked for a year in corps in Binghamton Royal Ballet, but then she stopped dancing. She said in an interview she lost passion. She likes teaching, and she is also attending a university as a premed. In terms of principal material, she is absolutely wonderful dancing variations in competitions, but doing variations and winning competitions isn't the same as working in a theater. Besides, there are many great girls we don't see in competitions at all as best professional academies don't send their students to competitions.
Great performance & mastery of technique. However her legs are too short. Cannot be a principal ballerina. Very unfortunate. Heard this girl dropped ballet to pursue an acting career - good for her.
Yes, she really is all human. It is just amazing how she controls her facial expressions while exerting the energy required for the spectrum of demands on her person.
I just learned this variation at my ballet company's summer intensive and I cannot even compare to Miko. She is so inspirational and I really look up to her.
when dancing, mostly ballet, it must look strong, effortless, graceful, and light all at the same time. And she achieved all these. Great job Miko! You're an inspiration to young dancers such as myself!!
Miko, you are an absolute artist.... a true prodigy. I know you are happy studying to be a doctor, and I am happy for you. However, you are one of my favorite dancers of my life. I am a dance teacher. I have shown First Position dozens of times over the years to my dance students. I wish I could see you dance more!!!! Best to you always!
She is brilliant. I wouldn't say she nailed the part of the black swan - it does lack some sophistication - but still, for 16, pretty amazing. There are some moments in there that I wasn't really feeling, but on the other hand, there are some that were really beautiful. And I think the artistic sophistication will definitely come for her with age and experience.
I don't know, it just didn't quite sell the part of the black swan IMO but I guess that's a matter of taste. It was still really good. Like I said, she's brilliant and shows a tremendous amount of promise as a ballerina. Not that you can really compare a teenager to a professional adult but I think Gillian Murphy is my favorite black swan I've seen thus far. Taking into account both character and technique, she was brilliant in an unparalleled way.
Annie Oddo her acting is kind of same-ish for a lot of her variations but yeah i think its with age as well as experience. probably when she starts in a major company she'll begin to develop her own sense of characterisation
16! Classical ballet really is the most evolved and beautiful art form humans have created and still create. I know their feet are mangled, they are often always in pain and that it is a rather cut throat and ruthless world, but it is still sublime. I was a gymnast and did ballet on and off between the ages of 5 and 16, but sadly I found horses in this time and thus have had most of my toes broken. If I didn't, I'd buy some pointe shoes and take adult classes again *sigh* Well, I am 48, so I think I'll keep doing the ballet and gymnastics warm up exercises mixed in with the yoga, meditation and horses and just watch these amazing artists as they continue to delight the world with their beauty, determination, courage and damn hard work. Thank you all xxx.
Love Miko's take on this odile variation. Very classy, sophisticated and there were some points in the variation where she felt 100% Odile. I really hope she posts her Odile pas de deux with Mario at Varna IBC 2014!
I remember after watching her perform her third performance at Alonzo lines ballet she quickly grabbed a water bottle and chugged it. I think deep down inside she wanted some strawberries n cheese on that table but she looked passed it and continued practicing her pirouettes even after the performance. Ppl don't understand the pain and dedication she has. My god!
I read from an interview somewhere that the only carbs she eats every day are muesli at breakfast. I just can't imagine a life without rice or pasta or potatoes, I don't understand where she gets all that energy from to dance so much!
Ahhhhh MIKOOO, you are amazing!!! That dance was flawless, you deserved that gold medal! You inspire my ballet friends and I to do our best in dance class. Luv you soo much
Wow omg, I can't even say how incredible she is, she has everything to be a prima ballerina and you can totally see she was born for this, SHE IS BEAUTIFUL WOW
You’re such a beautiful Ballerina. I started taking ballet, tap and baton twirling around age 3 or 4. I would have loved to be a professional Ballerina but my mom died when I was six years old. The dance lessons stopped. I was the youngest of four. We were 10, 9, 7 and 6 years old when our mom died of a brain aneurysm Both my sister were taking ballet, tap and baton twirling too. Our dad moved us to a very small town where there were no dance studios. Closest was about 80 miles away. Thank goodness for videos and live performances I can still love and watch it. Thanks for sharing your beautiful talent and career. I’m now 61 years old. If I able to I would attach a photo of the three of us in our ballet outfits 😃🩰
Miko!! Your dancing is incredible!! You're my role model!!!! You've inspired me so much in my dancing. Even to the point that I get lead roles in performances. Thank you for inspiring me. BRAVOOO!!
Lovely and a pleasure to watch, felt like I actually went to the ballet ..live streamed it but watched it from home . Got chills up my back as though I was there in person .
Stunning. I watch this over and over. The only other swan I like as much is Natalia Makarova. It's wonderful how much Miko has grown in strength, balance, musicality, and artistry, in just a few years.
Molto brava.Bighin Giulio Renzo. 😊😊😊
I understand why she has changed careers. It's a great loss for the ballet world, because she is so brilliant, but she has already given so many years to ballet, and she has another life to live now.
Miko, you are so amazing. I watched you in First Position and I really look up to you. I've been taking ballet for a long time and you've inspired to work as hard as I can and to keep trying. You are an awesome dancer and you've come super far. Keep going!!
Your dancing is absolutely captivating. You really tell the story in your movements. Graceful and beautiful, keep yip the great work. I hope to see you when you're a principal some day.
Oh look at all the ballet experts in the coment section! Newsflash: people who actually contain a plethora of ballet experience, knowledge and helpful critiscism don't take to youtube to publicly discourage a dancer for the whole world to see. For those who have awkward critiques and stinging words for Miko; save it. This girl is going places whether or not you believe she "has what it takes", as if there's some sort of holy golden standard every ballerina must reach in order to succeed. Every dancer brings their own magic to this wonderful art we call classical ballet. The greatest ballet dancers have been those who tirelessly persued their love for their art despite the petty hate thrown their way, or imperfect physique, or age, nationality and any other barriers people expect them to be held back by. So keep it to yourself. Dancers need encouragement not hatred. Miko you're an inspiration and wherever you are in your career right now, its undeniable that you are GOING places. Much love!!
Ballet doesn't wait. You either dance or you don't. If dance doesn't work out, she is young and may have a change of heart, then she can go to university later. Ballet dancers are clever and intelligent. You have to be to become a professional ballet dancer but the life is amazing. My daughter gave up her chance of The Royal Ballet School for university but she still dances and she is now 35 and teaches dance in schools. Miko's B Swan is amazing. Her use of the ronde de jamb is outstanding.
Definitely in a year or so she should be in a very good company. She has all qualities of a prima, let alone her black swan one of the best!!! Best of luck Miko in getting into the company you really want, sure you'll get in.
An assured and lovely performance. It is a pleasure to keep abreast of your career via these clips. I hope you find a suitable company and have a long, happy and healthy career in dance. The combination of confident technique and beauty of execution is what ballet is all about, so there is usually no end to the striving! Thank you for the pleasure you bring this member of your audience.
Oh Miko! I can't believe we are the same age! Your pirouettes and fouettes are absolutely amazing, and overall just stunning! I can't take my eyes off you! The port de bras :O You are perfection!! I aim to be as good as you one day, all I do is practice ballet!
as another performing artiste, she looks like principal material to me - she doesnt look stressed and overly focused on getting the technique right, rather the technique is already there, she's relaxed and completely in character. that is incredibly hard to achieve
It will seem as tough you are wrong. I believe she’s stopped dancing. She’s not in a company anyway.
Ingri A salty much?
Ingri A she just open her own studio in San Jose.

I have so much respect for ballerinas and danseurs..If only people knew how hard ballet is and how long it takes to master techniques

Agreed
Dancers not danseurs
@@tinaoriono123 danseurs are male ballet dancers

Totally agree! She is so inspirational!
Same. She's kind of like my idol 😅, she's such a beautiful dancer and I strive to be as beautiful and graceful of a ballet dancer as her.
I love that bourree preparation!! So perfectly swan-like.

Miko, what an artist you are... a truly poetic and virtuostic performance.
I have watched a ton of Odile’s Variation but Miko Fogarty’s technique is still one of the best I have ever seen
Santa:
Can I you please bring me Miko Fogarty in box so that she can teach me her mystical ways and I can watch her dance all day :D
Lol

Lol 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
did santa oblige tho?

I think she nailed the part and the act, the only reason she didn't reach sophistication was because she's naturally doesn't look old enough.
I don't know, it just didn't quite sell the part of the black swan IMO but I guess that's a matter of taste. It was still really good. Like I said, she's brilliant and shows a tremendous amount of promise as a ballerina.

Agreed 100%!
It has nothing to do with black swan, I just didn't think she portrayed the role with a lot of originality. we're allowed to disagree.

She is such an exquisite dancer and so inspiring! Absolutely unbelievable!!!!!!!!!
It's so nice to see her going from child prodigy to mature artist! Congrats Miko!
Perfect 10 out of 10. Magnificent grace and warmth. Just dazzling!
She has improved so much from when she was 13! She is a lot more graceful. Such an amazing dancer

Aggressive, yet fluid and relaxed. I sense a power-house behind this performance.
Saw her in a documentary when she was so young. She looks great :)
She was superb. Nothing phased her. It was all effortless. A continuous flow of glorious moment.
Her expressions are PRICELESS....
i do not know her personally but after first seeing her in First Position and to watch where she has come to amazes me. I am proud of this young lady
Such a talented dancer the ballet world has lost a magnificent dancer

The longer she dances the more unsettling the smile becomes.
