I really like the fact that they switch back and forth between Lead Guitar and Rhythm Guitar.
Genuinely now, how do they come up with these riffs? They're so technical, yet grooving and have ridiculous time signature/tempo changes yet somehow it all works?!
I need to know their secret on how they write music
GregShredGuitar Either A) they are aliens sent from another time to restore music or B) Practice
GregShredGuitar They write and smoke weed at the same time
GregShredGuitar this is hardly technical at all.
***** He totally agreed with you. He was saying that calling this song easy and not technical is just the same as taking ABR and DGD, some of the most technically advance in the genre, and saying "Yeah, that's child's play."
GregShredGuitar they're not human.
Such a unique sound to the whole arrangement in Oceans Ate Alaska songs
1:52 - 2:39 phenomenal part, very beautiful
still my fav album of 2015 hands down
Kier Hatch It's a close call between this and the new twenty one pilots record for sure, but I have to agree with you on this one. These guys have managed to create a unique and refreshing take on the genre.
Kier Hatch Agreed. There are a few others I could name, but this is definitely the top.
.
Yes! And Knuckle Puck's Copacetic album!
the mix on these two guitars insane. they compliment each other incredibly. Yea im still watching this in 2018
bruh its 2019 hahaha
Bruh its 2020 hahaha
Bruh it’s 2021 hahaha
Bruh its 2022 haha
Bruh it’s 2023 haha
This is insane guys..More drums of them if possible, Fearless
Excuse me while I go clean my brain off the walls because this shit just blew my mind
FUCK @0:57 so brutal. Sick as fuck
Jeff Bain it's so fucking satisfying to watch holy shit
I would pay many moneys to have this whole album played through (drums & guitars). So. Damn. Good.
1:25
Is he drawing a circle with his right hand? Holy Shit!!!
omg xD I just barely noticed now that I saw your comment
Its called sweep picking. Instead of picking every note you slide the pick up and down the string you are on hence the name sweep picking. There's different methods of how you sweep too and that's one technique
Liamrocks1022 I know what sweep picking is, but I would spect that that his hand was going straight down and straight up
Sorry for my bad english
The guitar solos this band has are incredible. I've never heard anything like it. Love it!
my favorite part is 2:50 😍
This is amazing! The way they move their hands across the guitar so effortlessly amazes me
Not even a guitarist but I just love the skill technicality!
0:56 - 1:03 insane bro
Watching them work together is like Heaven xD
Those are some sick play throughs from these two
PLEASE do a play through of "Part Of Something." That song is crazy insane!!
Im sure that theres not a single exsisting tab for this song ... Even if there is it would not be even a 80% accurate unless jibs and adam created a tab for this song lol
Daveed Siyam not even Jesus can tab this.
i've been waiting for this!
0:56 this is coordination
My music teachers son used to be in this band but i think he wanted to stay and study music when they got big.
I love this song so much!!
FLOORBOARDS Drum play Through
this is insane, so much talent here.
Amazing!
These songs make such epic instrumentals!
Finally, i waited this!
Beautiful!
so fucking clean, very interesting chord progressions and the timings are crazy as fuck. love these guys so much
404: flow not found
Insane song and insane band. One of the best album of 2015 holy shit
Damn that was wonderful.
I still can't decide if I enjoy this band or not. I have never heard this song in the original mix w/ vocals, but just from this guitar play-through it makes me think that the guitarists heard Structures "Divided By" album for the first time and decided to write a ton of riffs and cram them altogether into one amalgamation of technical prowess; which does more to show their lack of restraint and musically than it does to impress. Just to clarify: I love "Divided By" by Structures and wasn't in any way trying to disrespect that album's musicianship in comparison.
"Metalcore is 0% skill" "There is no skill in playing metalcore" "You don't need talent to play metalcore" To anyone who had said/thought anything along these lines, then please, grab one of your buddies and play this. Damn skippy this shit takes talent I mean Jesus fuck man!
Hahaha so true dude! But to be fair 60% of metalcore is no where near this skill.
let's see you do it this m8
LoudGhostAnthem the fuck you on about lad
+Zane Stozza people saying metalcore is 0% skill the rifts in this song alone are proof of how technical they can be
Yeah thats what the dudes saying
2:39 MY MIND IS BLOWING HELP ME PLS :(
They need to release these instrumentals :(
Stan Bonar FINALLY HAHAHA
the video gives me chills...
Cant stop watching!!!
Love this album so much. The vocals are awesome of course but I could listen to the whole album instrumentally for sure
Amazing riffing guys, waiting for moar.

This is so amazing! :)
No matter what happen in this world i will always love this band

I think everyone in Oceans Ate Alaska is an android sended to teach us how to do music.
Sent* :)
So this is what mastery looks like.
A melhor do novo álbum!
So damn good.
Dammmmmm boy!! very nice.
Please post more of these of other songs!!
After fully learning Hikari and Lost Isles albums by ear. I have to say Floorboards was they're hardiest song along with Part Of Something, Deadweight ect.
lil bit DGD at the end, and that was awesome
AWESOME ! 0:56
I bet these guys have bathe in the Australians seas to be this amazing.
Rui Carneiro Well they are from the UK so...
Pearson Lewallen yeah I know, it was a joke cause 99% of the australian metal bands are amazing. The uk metal bands are fucking insane too tho (architects, while she sleeps, enter shikari, martyr defiled, etc...)
Rui Carneiro fuck yeh dude, there are some incredible bands in aussie scene atm!
fucking dope! nasty fret work
Wondered how long it to yall to figure out the structure of the song.
this is really fucking good
Amazing pedal work drummer.SICK BRO.RESPECT TO ALL MUSICIANS BUT RESPECT TO METALCORE.THESE DONT F AROUND WHEN IT COMES TO TECHNIQUE.ODD TIMING.MELODIES..AND MOST IMPORTANRLY THE MEANING BEHIND METAL..BRUTALNESS!!!

Still here
2:50 WTF!!!!!
My mind and all of my organs stopped when i heard that the first time
Ikr?
Good equipment
so fucking good
what structures could have been
+Shen Yaoping structures paved the path for these guys... i guarantee the listened to a lot of divided by
Lavish Grav yeah you're prolly right, shame that they disbanded though
[speechless in the good way]
0/10 worst Real Friends cover ever.
+KeystoneState DudeCore LMFAOOOO
Dang, I'm kind of surprised I've never listened to these guys before. I'm getting sort of a mathcore/djent/progressive vibe from this song. I LOVE mathcore and progressive metal, and djent is iffy for me, but this sounds awesome. I really love that mellow interlude as well.
This is really complex guitar playing. It's like candy to my ears.
I need tabs this shit is amazing
can someone pls make a video for this tuning
Drop B at 432hz most chromatic tuners have a setting to change the hz. I think standard is 450 or something. I know it's two years later but i feel this could help someone else
Nihilist. Inc it’s mostly A440
What tuning is this song in?
would love to see a downsides and vultures and sharks playthrough
0:16 that riffs is so tasty
Hello
Does anyone knows what sort of gear do they use?i am wondering how they do ,,weird slides,, and ,,riff drops,, like in dub step ,I know you can do Same sort of thing with whammy digitech pedal but as we see on video they do not have it,as well do they play ,,riff drops,, in live set? As most of YT live videos are crap, you can't really hear a thing.
+Dawid Malak My guess is they use Axe-FX's for the different guitar patches to play each part. The glitchy sounding parts are dissonant tapping used by unbypassing the notes through a whammy effect.
+Dawid Malak The specific guitars are a type of Gibson (the black and gold one) and the other is an Ibanez Black Mick Thomson Seven (The crazy looking black one) but Johnathan Wright is right, the glitchy sound is used through Axe-FX.
Celestino Red Michaud The Gibson looking one is actually an ESP LTD EC-1000 I believe.
Okay, cool. It looks a lot like a Les Paul type of Gibson, but you may be right.
+Dawid Malak The guitar on the left is an Esp Eclipse and the one on the right Is An Ibanez Seven mick thompson signature.
0:32 for some reason theres no sound coming from the guy on the right
Anyone knows where I can find tabs for this?
This is my pain killer
Did they graduate from a high tier music institute with an excellent GPA?
If they did, what institute is it?
Can someone tell me how to tune to drop b lowered 8 cents? I don't get it. I understand it's 432 hz but how do I tune to that?
+Matthew Shegich its pretty hard unless you have a tuner to do it some tuners let you calibrate to a certain hz like 432 the only one i know that can is the snark tuners but if you use a tuner see if it has a set thing to do it
B F# B E G# C#
+anthony alta I figured it out, rad tuning. Thanks bruh
***** it took me a while to figure out that it was a tuning that i've used before when i first saw lowered 8 cents
What would you technically call that tone he is using around 3:07?
+Robert Manzone Heavily lowpassed/highpassed distorted guitar.
how do they get those effects when they tapp? anyone know what it's called?
B00tyislife That's just tapping.
B00tyislife It's probably just whatever distort pedal they're using. I know other bands that have those sounds when tapping (Glass Cloud, IWABO). What pedal/effect they're using, I couldn't tell you though. :/
AngryBob4213 i know its some sort of pedal, ive seen reflections in live videos and they step on the pedal for the effect when they do stuff like that
AngryBob4213 i think they have pod 500 hd but i still wonder the name of the effect haha
B00tyislife its a pitch shifter set to one semitone up and one semitone down from the note theyre playing. if you dont have a pitch shifter, you could alwys have one guitarist play the tapping t one fret above the original line and it will get the same effect
Dat breakdown starting at 2:40... hnnnnnnngggggg
what effect are they using and what tune are they in
They are probably using a custom tone in Axe FX or POD, and the tuning is Drop B
Drop B -8cents = Drop B 432khz
lml esta muy bueno...asii fue como me la prendi en guitarra :3
No tiene nada que ver con tu comentario lo qué voy a decir pero la neta me quede sorprendido, son una verga para tocar
Reminded me of a super mario core since there is some kind of core for music now.
I need to practice my pull offs and taps haha
Wat r u Casul?
+Dratorias Gaming I nvr use dex in my playing only strength and FBE I don't now frets above 3
guys I am kinda new to playing the guitar can someone tell me which one of them is the lead guitarist ?
Fadi Jan and this is in what tuning ?
They both do lead parts but the one on the Right does a bit more. The Tuning is Drop B at 432Hz tuner instead of 440Hz. So it's slightly Flatter
Splidao I don't get that, why not just tune to drop B, or to A#. fucking 432 bullshit makes learning this shit impossible
+cazza710 Ya know people strive to always sound different. :D
Who are you guys? An alien?!
Not my style of music but they are skilled as fuck for sure !
Machine Ates Alaska
anyone got a tab for this
