Forget about architecture or the advertising.. This is just too sweet. The way he talks about his parents is so sweet. Looks like he is an good son and they are amazing parents.
When AutoCAD sponsor Daniel, I know Daniel is the "real deal" architecture. As an engineer, first time I see this dominant "engineering design" software sponsor someone on youtube. Congrats on this milestone! I love that Daniel enjoy both his "main career" (architecture) and "side career" (youtuber). You definitely inspire me in many ways!
This did not feel like one big ad to you? He only showed the kitchen and living room and didn't show much of the rest of the house. It just felt like a showcase to me, followed by an ad.
CAD is so outdated. I'd be impressed if he was sponsored by Revit, which is the latest technology in architectural design and is on the market for over a decade now.
@@d1c8 Are both software belong to Autodesk? it's more like 2D vs 3D draft for me when comparing CAD vs Revit., or like Toyota vs Lexus. Just my two cents
@@RealMrGreenTeaLatte Well, UA-cam is an Ad business my friend. Serious UA-camr consider their channels as marketing businesses. Very few things in the world are FREE IMO, include information. Just my two centsts.

I was waiting for it. Great way of showing sustainability in a city. There is so much potential in old houses, basically you can get a brand new experience for a fraction of a price of a new building.
Wow you have done a great job! It has a good usage of space, white walls, simple kitchen surfaces, and the right selection of furniture. Some more plants inside and outside and its perfect imo. Well done!
I am a civil engineer in real estate and it's always great to go into the mind of fellow colleagues, especially architects! Thanks for sharing the thought process of the redesign. Also can't agree enough...AutoCAD is amazing!
My boyfriend's an architect in London too! You've done a great job with the place. Getting in as much natural light as possible definitely makes the place looks amazing.
Amazing and inspiring. I have a similar story. Started a family and moving out of my 2BR apartment in downtown Vancouver BC ,and moving back to my family home. I’ll be occupying the upstairs while my parents move downstairs. It’s great because my parents get to enjoy their grandkids and I get much needed space. I’m looking to remodel the “Vancouver special” and your videos have given me some fantastic ideas. With the economy in the toilet I’ve been open to going the ikea minimalist/budget friendly route. Would love for you to give me some ideas on how to maximize the space!
👍I really appreciate that you share money saving tips that have a big design impact: like the marble tiled backsplash or keeping the original door and window openings. Can you do a separate video on the house’s heating and ventilation?
Thank you for showing some practical renovations. The "professionals" I have worked with are all about form and seem to care little about function. Several years ago we paid a designer to redesign our function room to make it better for the potlucks and pizza parties held there. The result was uncomfortable couches with professional dry-clean only upholstery and $600 pillows. The dining tables were replaced with only one small game table which arrived damaged. She had the audacity to tell us "From this day forward there shall be no food in this area." Right now I am working with a designer for my small condo kitchen who doesn't like the look of refrigerators and doesn't think I need one. I like to cook and a kitchen without a refrigerator and freezer is not a kitchen to me. We really need people like you that can design practical spaces.
Very nice transformation. I used to sell one of those houses here in germany. Everything was old and needed to be refurbished. Your ideas fit great in this kind of house. Especially the bi-folding door to the garden is fantastic.. it might be expensive, but definitely worth the money. This is (beside the wooden floor with the beautiful pattern) one of my personal highlights about this house. Sometimes those houses come with a cellar, which tend to be 'damp'. Most of the times it is not a problem if you do not wanna use it as a living area and when buying you have a chance to get a lot discount.
Great architectural design, but as you mentioned this house being a family house, the interior design color palette it's so cold and flat and just ascetic. It doesn't have a family mood at all. Hope your mom embraces the new space making it cozier.
Daniel - have you thought of doing a video on the tender and build process, where you sourced materials from, how much PM you did, and the cost? Would be really useful to a lot of people. You might also get new client business, since your house looks fairly standard for UK terraces, and can be replicated for others by using your architectural services..
When I studied in the UK some 30 years ago, it was unimaginable to think of my British friends staying with their parents, but it seems this is getting very common these days. I am less fortunate than you in that although I am staying with my dad, we are always at loggerheads with each other, a situation that hasn't improved with my mum's passing away just a few months ago. So although I am out of work for now, I am moving back to my own apartment to avoid further deterioration with my dad's relationship. The apartment is quite large by Hong Kong standard at 600 sq ft, which I bought 10 years ago and then rented out past few years to earn extra income. I fully agree with you it's real hassle to look after a large space like that. With just myself I would be happy to live in an open plan studio with just 300sq ft.
Hello, I'm from Thailand. I like your picture on the wall. It seems to have a story reminiscent of the past. a good memory I got a good idea from your pictures. I took some of my pictures to follow. It looks really good. Thank you very much for the good work. Hope your channel will grow.😀😍👍

Wow, Mr productive, again u have proved how simplicity can be achieved through making very minimal changes in life and with great smartness, you have bought about such harmony and closeness to your loved ones. My dream to have a minimalist place like that, even a small place. Lovely clean modern solid decoration and furnishings. Absolutely love it. Good video except for the long boring ad for the auto desk thing.
Great job, it looks amazing! Also, i would love a list of the furniture in this house. The dining chairs, lounge chairs and dinner table are beautiful.
You are a good son. I am going to miss seeing your micro-apartment, but I look forward to seeing how you will continue your minimalist journey in a non-micro home!
Beautiful job! You turned a cookie cutter, cramped terrace home into a sensitively designed modern home--for multiple generations to live in! Very inspiring, and I admire both your professional expertise and your devotion to family.
Was there any thought of moving the washing machine? I always found it weird to have my dirty laundry near fresh food but my English flatmates found it normal.
Similarly in Singapore, we don't have electrical sockets in the bathroom for safety reasons. The washing machine is typically in the service yard (which is next to the kitchen); in smaller apartments without service yards, the washing machine is in the kitchen.
Yes it's weird, in canada they are located in bathrooms or basements (pretty much every house has a basement here since concrete foundations have to be deeper than the frozen soil of winters, which is about min. 2 meters deep)
Overall, I think the new layout is great! I quite enjoy the clean and minimal design! One question for the kitchen: Did you look at the possibility of extending the prep surface to have a counter for stools? It is a popular design in the US to have a counter to eat at in the kitchen.
i don't like sinks that are beside a wall. we dont use a dishwasher. my washing process: dirty dishes to the right of the sink. wash in sink. cleaned dishes on the left (dish draining rack). or vice versa: dirty dishes on left. cleaned dishes on right. is this just me or others also prefer it this way?
