    This will come into play on the streets of San Francisco. Those steep streets are a bear when you get stopped at a light. Can’t wait to try it out. Thank you for the clear video!

    Thank you. My mechanic put it on and left it on and I had no idea what it was or how to turn it off. Very useful and informative!

    Straight forward and to the point. I like that.
    Instead of putting the car in park and back to drive to reset the hold feature after the 3 minutes, can you manually disengage the parking brake by pushing down on the parking brake switch?

      Thank you!
      Yes, you can press the parking brake as well while your foot is on the brake. The reason I decided to demonstrate turning it off using the gear shifter is that it is a bit easier to find quickly. Everyone instinctually knows where the gear shifter is, but you may need an extra few seconds to locate the parking brake if you are unfamiliar with it, which can be a bit annoying when you're at a red light and traffic starts moving again.

    Thanks for this video. If I use this function once at a stop light, what happens 3 minutes later while driving? Will it apply the brake when I'm driving down the road in traffic? I'm a little unsure of what will happen.

    • @rav4resource
      @rav4resource  Рік тому +3

      You're welcome! To clarify, the 3 minutes only applies when stopped. Each time you come to a stop the 3 minute timer starts over.
      You can drive for as long as you'd like with the hold button on and nothing will happen.

    why why why why does it turn off when you turn the car off. I wish it just stayed on all the time. Annoying and dangerous that its up to the user to remember if its on or off.

    I have a 2023 Rav4 prime, the parking brake button actuate electric motors at the rear wheels brakes calipers applying mechanical clamping force. Do you know if the HOLD function use the same brake mechanism? Thanks for the Vid.

    Make sure it’s off if entering an automatic car wash, the car wash tries to push you in behind your left wheel but the breaks are on. I experienced this it was a what the heck is happening moment.

      Don't you have to be on neutral to allow the car wash to move the car? I use this feature and I haven't tried it but I don't think Hold will work on neutral.

    Hay alguna forma de que siempre esté encendido ??? Ya que cada vez que apagas el motor y lo vuelves a prender tienes que volver a encenderlo y para mi forma de manejo es bastante molesto, Gracias.

    What is the functional difference between the brake hold and the parking brake? Thanks!

    • @rav4resource
      @rav4resource  Рік тому +2

      The brake hold is designed for use while on the road. It allows you to simply hit the gas to release the brake and continue. The parking brake is designed for parking and must be deactivated using your hands rather than simply hitting the gas.

      @@rav4resource There's more... the parking brake uses different brake pads than the service (hold) break. When disk brakes first came out they found that they wouldn't hold as parking brakes over a long period, so they added drum brakes for parking only. There are two sets of brakes on back wheels, one you can see (disk) and one you can't (drums). That's why there is a three minute limit.
