The “wraith” car was a car industry technology demonstrator. It was supposed to demonstrate that a four cylinder turbo charged engine could deliver the same performance as a v-eight with twice the displacement. It broke 200 mph in testing.

The car is a Dodge M4S / Turbo Interceptor : 2.2-liter Cosworth inline-four with dual Garrett turbochargers producing about 400HP or 190+ MPH depending on how one measures pucker power and only four were ever made. BUT one of the cars from the movie disappeared when production wrapped and has never been seen since... something for those with a guilty secret to think about.

I've always hated the stance of the interceptor but it's definitely my favorite car. I've been putting parts together for the last couple years and am going to try my hand at an aluminum bodied interceptor with twin turbo bbc power.

This is one of those gloriously bad 80's movies that you just can't turn off when you find it playing. It's too bad the interceptor design never made it to dodge's lineup. I do think it would make a great EV sports car, if they would re-visit the design though.

The M4S is especially cool once you notice it, at least in part, influenced the shape of super-/hypercars to come in the '90s, and even now. With as crazy as Dodge is getting of late, I think they could revive this rig (with a little modernization, of course).
