It's accurate and takes only ONE test-strip to get results. YES!!
    2) "Doc, what can I have while fasting?"
    Salt + water are best.

Sounds weird but it's strangely satisfying.
Black coffee - I prefer cold brew coffee.
Fasting tea. My favorite = Pique Tea Instant Crystals:
    Bergamot Black Tea: bit.ly/2T5Ej3d
Pique Teas have great flavor and the highest antioxidants possible. They
freeze dry their tea into crystals. Pique Tea acts like instant tea ... with
GREAT TASTE. Not bitter. Not moldy.
Ketones-In-A-Can is also a nice option during a fast. If you have to have

So helpful. Had a nurse tell me this week not to consume too much coconut milk because it will cause “cholesterol”. I challenged her, given my low carb diet, stating my cholesterol isn’t being oxidised by high blood sugars, therefore I have healthy cholesterol. She admitted I was right, and I urged her to always qualify her statements in future as what she told me initially was really bad advice. She agreed. Good for her for being humble, but geez I get tired of educating medical professionals when I don’t have any form of medical qualification, just an enquiring mind and constant learning from reliable sources. Thanks so much for this lesson, Dr Boz.

I liken LDL's potential to induce atherosclerosis (plaquing of the arteries) to water's potential to rust a pipe. Water can only rust a pipe if that pipe is susceptible to oxidation. If, for example, that pipe is coated with a water repellent, it will not rust. Similarly, LDL can only increase the risk of heart disease if the arteries are compromised by damage, which allows LDL to embed itself into the artery and cause plaque formation. Eliminate the underlying cause of the damage - which is glucose and insulin fluctuations as the result of diet - and you eliminate the very initial step that causes LDL to be pernicious.

In 2005 I had at age 59, a huge "heart attack". I had 2 major blockages in the LAD artery (99% and 78%)
    Had 2 (medicated) stents placed.
I tell that to get to this; The Dr. who placed the stents (the Balloonatic) never mentioned cholesterol, triglycerides or fats when telling me the reason for the blockages. He said - and I quote "That is due to 2 packs of cigarettes a day for 20 years."
I never met the man before I went into the cath lab, and I had quit smoking a year before - so how did he know. Because cholesterol etc. can only clog arteries that are already damaged.
Eating fat won't make you fat.
    PS: Welcome to Florida, doc.

After three years in keto and fantastic labs, my doctor said even though my cholesterol was high, the ratio was perfect. Now my next thing is the 24 hour fast. It's been too long and glucose still too high and this is after three years clean keto, high ketones my glucose remains in the low 100s, 109, etc.

Excellent, though i thought the liver only supplied VLDL and the Chylomicron came from foods and the small intestine? Basically VLDL is the liver supplied Lipoproteins with triglycerides coming from sugars/fructose and the Chylomicron was "fed" with fats from foods and digestion?

    • @bonniemehrbach4380
      @bonniemehrbach4380 2 роки тому

I believe you are right. Chylomicrons are primarily made in the small intestine of dietary fats.

Dr.Boz is it really the case with Triglicerides that the lower the number on my blood work the healthier will I be ?
My Triglicerides is 56 my question is: should I be aiming at lowering it even more ? The healthy range shows between 0 - 150.

My doctor just told me I have high levels of both good and bad cholesterol. He said it isn't diet related, but genetic (I mostly fast and keto). He just recently stopped dating fasting is not good. I attempted to click on your video about types of cholesterol that you provide a link for in your notes and it says it is private. So, am I not able to view?

This video gives me a high cringe factor. My understanding is that Chylomicrons are formed in the intestine wall from ingested fats and that VLDLs are formed in the Liver. There is evidence that Chylomicrons and VLDL actually compete with each other. I also understand that Chylomicron Remnants are taken up by the Liver; this material may provide some supply to the VLDLs. I would love to see some “links” showing Chylomicrons > VLDL.

I thought chylomicrons come from the digestive system, absorbed and transported via the lymphatic system, dumped into the artery back to the hearts and pumped out to the rest of the body including the liver.

    • @DoctorBoz
