    Rauschenberg is without a doubt one of the greatest artists of the past 100 years. When I was 18 I had the privilege to view a retrospective of his work in Houston. Then to my surprise he was there and gave a 30 minute talk about his work.

    Such an open person and very eloquent. His smile was so beautiful.

    INCREDIBLE PERSON. I'm devastated by Rauschenberg (in the best way possible). I hang on his every word. He is literally ZEN.

    Thank you for posting. Robert Rauschenberg is becoming a stealth presence in my art; disconcerting, but I'm adapting. Again. many thanks for this posting.

    I would love for him to talk about himself and Cy in the early days.

    To me his general demeanor seems to reflect a 1950's sensibility: an open sentimentality, a kind of innocence and purity and optimism that were complicated and lost following the Vietnam War years.

    I think Mr. Rose is used to interviewing subjects with more narcissism; ask a small, vague question and they expound. Rauschenberg doesnt seem that kind of person.

      Exactly! U notice it in the very first question. I couldnt explain why the interviewer was so immediately awkward but this is it!

  • @justinevirtue1755

    Charlie doesn't get what Robert is saying. The part about curiosity for example. The things Bob is saying are profound and deep.

      Yes im with you. he doesnt give him time to think about his answers. And when he say somehting important he changes the topic. But this is television. There is a time limit. such a bullshit. there shouldnt be a time limit with important interviews.

    Hard to watch this guy interviewing Rauschenberg. He seems to lack direction and depth. Nonetheless the artist responds so gently!

    Both men i respected most in their fields. Charlie Ross...you dont see such class quality of journalist around anymore in these internet mad space...

    • @liammcooper
      @liammcooper 6 років тому +4

      Charlie Rose had to step down from his position because he repeatedly sexually harassed women under his employment at CBS. He's definitely not a "class quality of journalist".

      Judy, you won't see Charlie at all now (see reasons above). But actually, he was a sh*t interviewer when it came to anything or anyone subtle.

    Rauschenberg is from the same town as Janis Joplin. Must be something in the water, or, the fumes from the refineries.

    I came to find out if Rauschenberg was gay. Saw his first portrait on an Antiques Roadshow UA-cam video and it certainly makes me believe. Did he not want to address that question?

    I’m actually disappointed that He would stoop so low to be interviewed and then I thought - even God sent himself to save the world. He stopped low to connect to the world after they refused to listen to him.
