From a mom of an impatient child, the correct answer to a kid complaining that they don't want to wait is, "okay, if it's not worth the wait to you we can go do something else" or "everyone waits and takes turns. Your turn is next so be thinking about how you want to use it." 😁

I once had a grown women argue with me for 20 minutes because she did not understand the difference between lactose free and gluten free. Finally, a god send of a women, behind her chimed in “it’s not this girls fault your an idiot who doesn’t know the difference between milk and wheat, she has been more than patient with you, can you please let the rest of us order”. Can we just normalize calling out bad behavior? If parents are not going to do it maybe society can step on in with the public shaming.

I was waiting for food in line at a McDonald's, and this middle-aged man could NOT comprehend that the ice cream machine was shut off for cleaning. The employee who took his order wasn't aware of it when she rang him up (apparently, the machine shuts off automatically). They gave the man a refund, but he was still at the counter, carrying on and ON while his two sons just looked embarrassed. He berated anyone who happened to walk behind the counter. The manager had spoken to him and directed him to another location and was more than patient. But, this grown child just would not freaking stop ranting in the lobby to anyone who made eye contact
I was just tired of listening to it. I have worked fast food, so I guess it touched a nerve. So, I snapped and told the guy that the staff did everything in their power to help him. The guy was like, "But my kids need their ice cream!". I replied something like, "Yeah, you're setting a great example for them! You got your money back. Just go somewhere else." The guy left while still yelling and ranting, but at least he left, and the lobby was finally freaking quiet

When I was a server, some poor guy in a business suit came running in like two minutes before closing. He was sweaty and panting and asked "Is your kitchen still open?"
    I said unfortunately, no.
"PLEASE do you have ANY food!?"
I was like uh, I can get you some scones.
He shouted "I'll take a dozen!!"
I asked if he wanted any devonshire cream, lemon curd, raspberry jam (I'm in full robot mode).
    He screamed excitedly "YES!"
So I went in the back, boxed and bagged everything, rung it up, handed it off to him with the bill.
"Bless you, you're an ANGEL!" He threw money at me and ran out.
Counting it out, I realised he'd tipped me $50~!
I wonder why he was starving and in such a hurry. Bless you too, Sir. I ate better that week.

We went to a restaurant once about 15 minutes before closing. We honestly thought they were opened another hour (small local business, no hours posted on door). Once we realized they were closing, we profusely started to apologize. There were 7 of us. We were perfectly ok with leaving. The server insisted we stay and the kitchen staff agreed to stay as well. We were so grateful that we ended up leaving a $225 tip for them to split (3 staff total). AND we made sure our table was clean and made everything as easy as we possibly could for them. They didn't have to serve us. But they did. We were as nice as possible, and in turn, we received beyond excellent service, and in turn, they got a hell of a tip! It's amazing how much better things can go when you're kind to people!

Hi Charlotte, just to let you know that a bakers dozen originated in England. In times long ago bakers could be jailed for giving their customers short measures, or underweight items, so when a customer asked for a dozen of something they would always put an extra one in to make sure the customer was happy and they were not reported, so a bakers dozen is always 13.

I rolled into my motel at the time the only place open would close in 10 minutes. I ran in told them I was desperate. And would be happy with anything they had not put away yet with and happy to pay whatever . I paid and checked into the motel room. Open the food container. The Crackle Barrell gave me a whole meatloaf, mashed potatoes, assorted breads veggies and a dessert. Salt pepper and anything I could possibly need. The last few days had been a living hell. So fun fact about the woman in the airplane video, she's wasn't up for a grammy, her singing group was. The way she says it on the plane, it sounds an awful lot like she's taking sole credit for the nomination because who honestly on that plane knew who she was. Her own fans called her out for her entitled behavior. Than she goes on to lie about Delta calling to personally apologize to her and that the flight leader had been reprimanded and that she hopes "he learns a valuable lesson on how to treat other people." Delta would later make a statement that they did not call her to apologize and the flight leader did not face an consequences for his actions.

    • @LazyIRanch
      @LazyIRanch Рік тому +93

She never did agree to be quiet. She just played her silly word games so she wouldn't get kicked off the plane. I wonder if she behaved herself for the rest of the flight?
My niece sang on a plane once in 1976, but briefly and not loudly. Different situation though.
She was 8 years old, flying from out of state to visit her grandparents (my parents). I was 15 at the time. She was flying as an unaccompanied minor and the flight attendants were so kind, one sat with her during takeoff. My niece mentioned that she couldn't wait to tell her grandparents that singer Charlie Pride is on the same plane! She saw him in 1st class as she boarded but pretended not to notice because she didn't want to bother him.
The flight attendant got up when it was okay to, and walked to 1st class, came back and asked my niece if she would like to say hello to Mr. Pride! Of course!
He was so nice, and when she told him "Kiss an Angel Good Morning" was her favorite song, he asked if she'd like to sing the chorus with him. Of course! 🎶
(today she's lead singer in a German rock band).
The seat next to him was empty, so he asked the flight attendant if my niece could sit there for the rest of the flight and keep him company (only an hour).
The funniest thing was when she walked off the plane, holding Charlie Pride's hand, and I'm standing there with my mom & dad with our jaws on the floor! My mom was a big fan so I was afraid she might faint, but no. She was the first one to speak and she said, "Well HELLO Charlie Pride!" That got us all laughing.
What a sweet man and great talent. Even more handsome in person, too!

One of the funniest things I saw working retail was when my husband and I worked together (it was where we met). The store closed at 9pm, and he was getting ready to lock the doors. He turns them off, and I hear a “Oh hell no” come from the little foyer between the two entrance doors (one main entrance and then a small foyer with the entrance and exit doors to the front and side respectfully). Turns out, this lady we ALL knew of was just sauntering up to the door to come in. My husband turned and was like “what time is it?” It was 9:05pm. He proceeds to then lock the doors. The lady must have heard the click of the lock because he said she all of a sudden ran up to the door and started knocking, pointing and gesturing to unlock and open the door. My husband leans in and squints like he can’t hear her, and she bangs a little harder and starts yelling. Something about the ol’ “it won’t take long, I need only a few things” spiel. He leans in more, shakes his head, points to his wrist and walks away. Meanwhile, this woman is now SCREAMING to let her in and pounding on the door. My husband keeps eye contact while he closes and locks the other entrance door. Even my manager thought it was hilarious.
For context: this woman was NOTORIOUS for coming in right as we were closing and staying 20-30 minutes past time. FOREVER the difficult customer. She was NOT some rando that my husband harassed. 😂

My bf told me a story from long ago when he worked at Panera. This couple comes in with their like 10 year old boy and his friend, get food, and sit to eat in the dining area, the parents chit chatting at one table, and the kids at another table. My bf sees the second kid spill some food and start to clean it up, when the first kid stops him, looks at my bf cleaning a nearby table, and says WITHIN EARSHOT of his parents, "ew, don't clean that up, it's the workers' job to do it." The parents didn't say a damn thing, just kept chatting. My bf looked the snotty kid straight in the eyes and simply walked away. It's truly amazing how many average, middle class people come into fast food and other low-cost chain businesses and try to act like they're the richest people in the world. It was a black and white photograph. I had to explain to her that putting a black and white photo on a color copier wouldn't make the image come out in color. The Chefs had already cleaned the kitchen and the floors had been mopped. The manager told the Chef to fire up the grill and deep fried so this family could be served, the Chef said it was his anniversary and he already had plans, the manager told him to turn everything on or he’d be fired.
The Chef, head waitress, buss boy and the lady that seats you all told the manager “good luck” and walked out. They said they wouldn’t be back so he’s on his own with the 3 part time servers and no cooks.

Hes so money hungry. My bf got a spider bite and kept working for 2 days and if he wouldn't have gone to the doctor for another day, he could've had his foot amputated. He was supposed to get a week off for Christmas, SURPRISE SURPRISE he got 1 day off AND THEYRE OFF ALL MONDAYS SO IT WASNT EVEN TECHNICALLY A DAY OFF!!! He got another foot injury and his boss is still not giving him time to heal. Hes been limping nearly a year. But yet if grease flies and hits his face, the boss, he'll scream like he's dying, his mom comes in a lot and he starts screaming "MOMMY MOMMY HELP ME" like really??

When I was working in sales, at some times, I was alone all day. So I was forced to close between 1 and 2 pm, to eat. It was advertised on the doors and the shopwindow several weeks before !
A family comes in, like 20 minutes before closing. I let them in, because they knew what they wanted and promised me (because they saw that I was gonna close) that they would be gone at 1pm. I helped them, and around 12h55 I went and half closed the iron curtain that closes the doors, to show people that we were gonna close. Telling them with a smile that they could keep looking, that it was just so noone else comes in. They say no probelm, with a smile, and I keep taking to the register the clothes they were gonna buy. And then the dad screeeeeams : WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING ! I turn, because I was talking to his wife. A women was half bent to go under the iron curtain and come in, to shop. XDDDDD
I told her : I'm sorry, we're about to close. The curtain is down for that purpose.
And then she yells at me : their is people here, so you're not closed !!!
I was about to answer, but the dad of the family didn't like her response apparently : And he says "you are ridiculous !! You were practically crawling to get in !!! At what point did you not get it was closing ? Or better, why did you get in anyway ???? Get out !" She got out, and the family too, at 1.01 pm. And I sold a lot to them, AND I had a good laugh ! The dad and the way he told her to go... Priceless ! XD

We have a Starbucks in a Safeway near us and they are suppose to be open until 8pm, however they will not sever you after 730 because they think operational hours are the same as their working hours. Now I just don’t go there after 7pm anymore. No need to review or complain just adjust.

I am a store manager for Karen's favorite dollàr store. Ironically, I was telling one of my teenage employees a story just like the first one in this video tonight while we were closing. We close at 10 pm. One night we had two people come in at 9:50 and grab a cart. I kindly told them we were closing in ten minutes and let me know if they needed help with anything. They laughed and said we just need a couple things. At 10:05 they finally came to the register after several reminders that we were closing. The woman was laughing that she always comes in so late. We ring her up and the total of her full cart of random stuff was well over $100. She says oh, I only brought $100 in with me. So I then have to void half the order. By this time it is nearly 10:15. As we are voiding things the woman tells me that she is the one coming in the next morning to interview with me for a job!!!!. After they finally leave at 10:25 pm I rush through paperwork to get the 17 year old I had working that night out so she could get home for school the next day. No, the woman did not get the job. The audacity of some people!!!!!!!!

Me thinks you mean DG?? 🧐. If so, same experience, only I wasn't a manager, just a Key holder with MOD status when Mgr wasn't there and I was closing (I don't like to brag but I was a damn good employee that was quick with EVERYTHING, including closing, cleanup, Recovery, Deposit, the works!!) I took liberties in how interactions with customers went, depending on how they approached, and treated me and my fellow coworkers, simply bc I was very much informed on our policy handbook and what could and should and not be done.... Customers who pulled the crap to show up late had a very clear Verbal upon entering, by Me, as I would typically run register (it was just easier this way and prevented alot of unnecessary interruptions during tasks). I started call out at about 9:40pm, and would bump the time up for closing at about 10 minutes. So if you came into my store and it was 9:40pm, you were informed we would be closing in 10minutes. At the 10 minute mark, I would have a coworker walk the aisles and announce we were in the process of closing and all customers must make their way to the front for final purchases. The moment the clock hit 9:55, I would manually turn auto doors Off and had myself or another employee escort the customers inside, to the door. No number of people pulling up or knocks on the door or threats would have me change my mind on permitting customers through those doors once I had turned them off. 🤷🏻‍♀️ DG policy had us closing at 10pm, with a 15 minute window to count down, make deposit, tidy up, set alarm and walk out, so best believe we were ALWAYS out by that time frame. I found it very easy to use the Policy Handbook to back my decisions. I was never reprimanded, nor fired. Sorry but the customer is NOT always right, and I made damn sure they knew it. 🤷🏻‍♀️

@@LoveK1 Thank you for that!! Honestly, I was offered the position multiple times by different Store and District Managers, and although I would have truly loved to be able to manage, I would not have been allowed to run the store the way I deemed appropriate, that, and I strongly disagreed with Corporates tendencies to "flag" you if you went over time, even if it was at another location, encouraged by District to "help" other locations. In turn, Corporate would have the DMs force the SMs to take away hours by extending lunches, or having you come in late or leave early. I personally would have encouraged and compensated each employee for their additional hard work, as it they should be!!.... It was Corporate that wouldn't allow for it so I found just being a Key Holder and learning their Policy Handbook served me just as well. I had quite a few managerial duties I could complete , however I never had to deal with District or Regional or even corporate breathing down my neck.... It sucked but DG (for this instance) very much was an "everyone for themselves" type work environment, where they expect brand new employees to know damn near everything, and the moment you didn't, you were considered expendable and fired bc you were to blame for not knowing all your duties, instead of the manager holding themselves and THEIR superiors and so on, accountable for employees and stores being unable to meet Corporate standards.... And quite frankly, they don't pay enough for that kind of headache.... 🫤😕

We will reopen in four hours, so feel free to hop across the street to continue your holiday shopping, and we'll be happy to hold your order if you still need to shop.' I died in hysterics, and yes, he got a lecture the next day. He only did it because three women slid into the door right as we were locking them and made a smart-ass comment 'Well, now I'm in here and you can't throw me out'. Try us. Bet. ^-^ We let the city cops escort their asses out and trespassed them for a month. They were Air Force wives using hubby's rank like currency, and the poor husbands were so embarrassed.
Another time, another fellow coworker (the same department did all the announcements) did the closing spiel, and she forgot to hang up the phone and we heard, clear as day 'Don't these damned people know we've been closed for twenty and we want to go home? We all worked a 12-hour shift. We're tired, hungry, and just want to get off our feet. F*k!' I went flying around the corner (I was in drapery at the time), screaming ''GINA! GINA! PHONE! SPEAKER! ON!' and you heard 'HOLY SH*!' and she slammed the phone down to cut off the speaker. Still my favorite memory of her.

It should be like a national service type situation 😂 I know someone mentioned making people work as nurses/military etc but I honestly think working as a server would beat out the entitlement in most people because most people (not all, I know!) Treat nurses/doctors/pilots etc with some respect. Most people look down their noses at servers as if they wouldn't dream of working as one. Speaking from years of personal, hellish experience. A lot of people think servers are below them because you don't need any education to serve. Like the first guy said, servers are 'the help'.
A couple of years working 12 hours with 30 mins break max as a server 6 days a week will crush the entitlement out of anyone. I'm always so kind, respectful and helpful to my servers. I clean up after myself as much as possible! People I eat with (who haven't been servers) often ask me why I do it since 'that's what they're paid for for' 😳 I do it because I want to help them out as much as possible, knowing how back breaking the work is. I had already put away much of out supplies and had began clean-up so a few appliances were already shut off and at least partially cleaned. Then he had the gall to tell me to fire everything back up for these people (who apparently can't tell time) , so I said "No thanks maybe you would like to do it instead." and walked out. I was young and still lived at home so could get by with this behavior, plus restaurant jobs were and are a dime a dozen so finding another one was not too troublesome.

I don't know if it's the same in other countries, but in Brazil the kitchen of restaurants and bars "close" 1 hour to 30min prior to official closing time. That means that you can't order any food close to closing time, only drinks and even then, the waiter/manager go to your table, with your tab, when it's closing time for you to pay. Sure, you can take your time to finish your drink, but they all keep staring at you and os considered extremely rude to keep the restaurant/bar staff waiting.

When I worked in retail, I was an admin at 19. So I dealt with a lot of crazy, entitled people.
We had a cashier who let a lady return hundreds of dollars of merchandise, but when the prices didn't seem to make sense, I took a look and noticed it was mostly brands that we didn't sell in the store. I found she attached our tags to other clothes, she probably bought a tagging gun online or something.
The next time she tried it, I personally refused her return. She said "It doesn't matter if you have the brand, they still have the tags so I CAN MAKE A RETURN! YOU HAVE TO RETURN IT! WHERE IS YOUR MANAGER!!!" So I called in my store manager, the mom of twins, and told her the situation and why she had to come down to the store immediately. She only lived five minutes away, or we would have just called the police. I won't post her whole rant, but we did not complete that return or see that customer again. In addition to the company report, I called all of the stores in our entire state to warn them about this crazy woman, so she'll have to find another company to scam.

I used to work at an ice cream shop in the mall. We close when the mall closes, 9pm. We have our lights off, signs put away, and gate down. 2 people show up asking if we're already closed. I jokingly said no (my bad). The girl asked if she could go ahead and get an ice cream bar, to which i said, "Ma'am we're actually closed since it's 9pm." She. Was. Pissssed. I apologized and explained that i was joking and thought it was more than obvious that we were closed given the security gate being down. Her, not understanding how security gates work, ask if i can slide the ice cream through the gate. "If i do that, there'll be ice cream and toppings on the gate, and again, we're closed." This answer she does not like, so she storms off and comes back with a security guard (meanwhile, the other person is just sheepishly standing by). She explains that I'm not helping her get her ice cream bar. And this security guard, looks at his watch and looks directly at the lady (this is where we prepared ourselves for the Dolby sound test) and screams "ITS 915PM AND THE MALL IS CLOSED, DO YOU NEED ANY OTHER WORDS TO EXPLAIN THAT THE MALL IS CLOSED?" This lady made the squiggly emoji face, dropped her head and let out a very soft."No, that's fine, " and walked off with her friend. The security guard apologized to us for raising his voice, but we were glad he did. The very next day, we saw him on duty and offered him a free bar. There's nothing like seeing a buff guy enjoying an ice cream bar (dipped in chocolate, rolled in Oreo, and peanuts).

I had the worst customer of my life so far earlier this week! That’s in 12 years of working in the service industry. He’s trying to get me fired, too. He took video of me denying him service, told corporate there was no reason. The actual reason was that when he tried to order his coffee, he was asked to hold on a moment while the cashier finished helping another customer. His response was repeatedly screaming his order at the cashier. When another employee came over and told him we’d be with him in a moment, he started cussing. He was being so aggressive that both of them went to the back. I stepped in, because while I did think he was about to get violent, I’ve also worked as a bouncer at a club before, and maybe act slightly recklessly according to my therapist. I’m not a fighter at all, and I’m only 5’4” and 120 pounds, but I know how to act confident. I told him why we were denying him service. He pulled out his phone to film me, and kept saying that I was denying him service for no reason. I kept calmly explaining that he was lying and telling him what actually happened. He kept calling me a liar. He then said that I was refusing to give him my name, even though I gave him my name. I told him to get out, firmly, but not screaming. After like ten times, he finally left. He sent the chopped up video to corporate, though, trying to make it look like we randomly decided not to serve him. I am still shocked that he didn’t hit me. My knees were shaking.

We had about 20 orders ahead of her, plus people waiting for slices, so after the 5th or 6th time explaining it to her, I pretended I couldn't hear her and asked her to follow me outside so I could hear her. As soon as she walked out, I turned around, walked back in, closed the door and locked it.
The other customers thought it was hilarious.
I did eventually unlock the door, once I knew she got the hint to wait outside, and when her order was ready, I took it to her.

Mind you, we didn't have many customers, ALL DAY LONG, looking at 15 tickets including doordash. This was all 30 MINUTES before we closed. I'll focus on the girls' table here: These girls had made a reservation for this time slot, and we were happy to accommodate due the slow nature of the day, but they were LATE to show up! Red flags abound! 5 top, and EVERY item they got had several changes that were very nonstandard. For example, a girl made up her own dish that literally MATCHED one of our items on the menu! They took a solid 20 minutes to debate orders with the server, bless his heart. And so, after about 10 mins of rapid fire interpretation and execution of the most butchered order I have ever seen in my 3 years, these girls spend 30 mins picking at their food and talking, they leave. I watched as the server AND the bus girl take 15 minutes to clean all the food off their plates, which looked like they maybe had 3-5 bites off any of their food. They didn't even tip to finish it off. Now mind you, this was happening in tandem with 2 other tables that were fairly reasonable, and a Karen takeout order that was neatly packed up for her, starts to pull every item out for inspection, going so far as to pull a soup out and TASTE it, claiming the soup, made that morning, was STALE. Would you like me to come back in for the next shift, or will I need to be looking elsewhere for employment.”

That first one? Yeah, NEVER agree to sit someone that close to closing time, because you know they aren't going to be worth the money. That manager is probably the worst out of all of them for doing that.

However, he commited a big mistake: he didn't inmediately explained his motivation (security because he has suffered an crime before).
Why does he expect people to know something that he hasn't explained before?
If he doesn't correcly explain situation, is natural for people to think he is being an asshole.

👏nooooo👏. He most certainly didn't make a mistake.
It is his car. It is his prerogative.
You don't deserve, nor are you entitled to, an explanation as to why someone has a boundary, especially not just because you don't like the boundary. He has the right to do whatever he wants with his car and for his own safety, and he doesn't have to say shit to make you feel better about it. He is providing YOU a service, not the other way around.
People not respecting no are assholes, not the people themselves setting a boundary.

literally got hit with the "I've been doing this for 15 years" by a customer today at work. He ordered a one pump mocha latte- mocha and latte are two different drinks but made about the same way. espresso shots and steamed milk is a latte, add mocha syrup and whip cream and boom you have a mocha. People say mocha latte all the time and they just want a mocha but get confused by the terms, so I just rang up a mocha with only one pump and went about my business. He brought the drink back and was pissed because it had whip, told me I rung it up wrong and he told me to do it a certain way and people always get it wrong. When I realized what happened I tried to explain - well I rang it up this way because of how you said it but if you order it by saying a one pump mocha with no whip you'll get exactly what you want every time. He said he didn't want that, he been ordering it that way for fifteen years, I was rude and
i needed to hush blah blah blah i'm wrong he's right - like dude fact of the matter is the only difference between the drink in your hand and the remake I'm handing you is that one has whip and one doesn't. you said yourself that people always get your order wrong but you've been ordering like that for 15 years? I was trying to help you and then you yelled at me in the middle of a public space - gfys

Some coffee customers get crazy so fast when you don't make their "regular" the exact way they want it 🙄 I had a lady get angry at me and yell that she was never coming back a little while ago because she asked for a "white chocolate Americano but replace all of the water with milk" so I rang her up for a white chocolate mocha. Literally a 75 cent difference

Sometimes coworkers have my back when it comes to rude customers, but other times, they're like "I know this thing isn't included, but just give it to them so they'll go away." And I'm just wondering like "Um, people shouldn't be rewarded for being rude and trying to get things for free." I hate doing it.

Hahahaha I do the complete opposite! If i have a full section and one of my tables is rude I give them bottom of the barrel service. I’ll be just as unfriendly back to them but make sure they see me treat every other table amazingly. I’ll bring those people samples from the bar, maybe buy them a dessert, chat with them, etc.
I want those people to understand that this isn’t a “me problem” it’s a “you problem”.

I work retail and people consistently come in 5 minutes before close and ignore the employees announcing that the store is closed. They continue to shop and then take forever at checkout when it's already 15 to 20 minutes after closing. I wish I could find out where they work to do this to them.

I had a customer who halfway through her order - it's like a Mexican subway make it as u go so the food was already half made - told me 'oh by the way I have a nut allergy' so I told her to scan the code that shows all the allergy info, she scanned it, didn't look at it n turned her phone off n continued to carry on ordering eventually once she was sat down and about to eat she decided to look at the info on her phone to realise that she couldn't eat half the stuff she ordered so went to complain to my manager that I was trying to kill her...

Ah, the joys of being a customer service rep. many years ago and having power over the intercom system. We had ONE man refusing to leave or even acknowledge the "store is closed" announcement, so I ended up acting like the good old Wizard Of Oz and went, "Good evening, CUSTOMERRRR" putting full loud and overly friendly emphasis that whoever was making the announcement they were aware there was only one customer in the whole store and it was him. I'm standing parallel on the opposite side of a huge department store and felt like God in that moment. This guy starts looking up and around like he's so confused about the voice until our eyes locked like West Side Story and since he's too far to talk loud enough to me, he just points at himself like, "ME?" I nodded and that's how I got him to leave. So hilarious.
