I had many Armenian friends growing up in Iraq. When I was 13 I moved to Australia, my first friend here was Armenian too. I was pretty suprised that they had no idea of Armenian Iraqis. I'd love to go back to Iraq it's been 13 years too long.

Your first day in IRAQ ....the breakfast..The History..the Monumental figuers.....oldest street....ancient mosque..the 12th Century building...Bazaars with all the beaytiful scents...merchandise and various foods and above all seeing you and Tasos experiencing all this just amazing. Loved this video..looking forward to the rest, Thanks David and youand Tasos stay safe.
David, David, David... Damn Bro, what more can a person say. Just like Iran, you showing people a side to these countries no one sees, or no one chooses to show. Thank you. Besides the people being so hospitable, and the food being the actual reason you're there, I would seriously go for the perfumes too. The variety is crazy! Looking forward to the series
THANK YOU CHRIS! Truly appreciate your support and thoughtful comments! Have a beautiful Sunday and so glad to be able to share these places with the world.
Thank you so much Iranian. I am so thankful for your support. I agree the Iraqi people were absolutely amazing! Iranian people were also incredibly kind and welcoming!
I was last there in 2007, at that time those streets were empty and you wouldn’t dare be on them in anything but the heaviest armor. Glad to see life flourish
David, you always make an effort to connect with the people, no matter where you might be. You learn part of their language and that always takes down barriers between each other. So many kind and good people in this world. Take care and thank you for what you do. John here, from the back-roads of Northeastern Tennessee.
Robin thank you so much for saying that. Its people like you who really help make this something special. To be able to connect with people around the world and to learn about so many beautiful places and cultures is a dream come true. I totally agree there is so much goodness and kindness in this world. We are all brothers and sisters on this world! Thank you for the love and sending peace and blessings to you in those beautiful backgrounds of Northeastern Tennessee!
I was born in Baghdad and lived there until I was almost 7. I remember some of the foods you ate. We would go out to get kahi and geymar on Saturday or Sundays, and it was soooo good. I remember having torshi, also so good. I didn't care for the half and half dates. The unripe portion was bitter to me. Other favorites of mine that maybe you had while you were there, were tashreeb, khoubiz, and dibis. That's so awesome you visited Baghdad. I hope to make a visit back in a few years.
This type of bread is actually very popular in Bangladesh and its called "bakarkani". It's my favourite Bangladeshi sweet snack especially with milk tea.
Good morning David. I barely got in on the 'live' chat but I just watched the replay. So, finally, Iraq series is here. Great start. It's so nice to see how these people and the city of Bagdad have survived after all that Iraq has been through: the Iran/Iraq war and Bush's invasion of Iraq and their own internal problems. But I digress. No more politics. They sure love sugar and sweets. A diabetic's no-no. I love the flatbread but without all that sugary syrup. Interesting way they prepare and cook their food but it all look delicious. As for the market, you can find almost everything you need but how do you choose. An abundance of products. And how about those coppersmith artisans making all that copperware, fascinating. So nice seeing Tasos. Just did a 'live' chat with him earlier this morning. He was at the airport in Lisbon waiting to fly to Ghana. He looked well. So, David, you know how anxious I was waiting for this series and you didn't disappoint. So looking forward to the next video. Thank you very much. I hope you are feeling much better now. Take good care of yourself and have a great day. ❤️🙏👼🕊️🇹🇹🇨🇦
I love this. Breakfast looked amazing The kahi looks really good layers sticky yummy. Tasos hi hi .Pour Chai in plate cools fast what i would do. Freedom Monument under construction is beautiful. Now this 12th-century school is amazing piece of architecture! Wow beautiful . The workmanship to constructing is truly beautiful. The carving of stone is nothing less but perfect. Natural gum not like your sweet gum you get in other countries. Food looks great in the bazar even if i don't like liver.. People are so nice great to see. bread soaked in fava beans looks so good. Love the copper would love to have a piece from there. I love it. Love the antique copper pieces!! Great start to a wonderful journey in Iraq. Await the next episode! ♥♥ Have an awesome day
So great and appreciated David to share your experiences with us and show how ordinary people live is, without any edit/overdue. this is why I truly love your videos SIMPLE SPONTANEOUS HONESTLY...thank you Azizi 👍
I deployed to Iraq 3 different times, 15 months once and 12 months two other times. One thing I will say is I miss the food, and the very kind people who live there. I really want to go back as a tourist and visit the places that I had the opportunity to serve in. They’re some of the most generous, kind, and loving people I’ve ever met
Wonderfull And also sahtein Sahtein is an arabic word We say it after anyone eat something Like in french bon appetit My almost comments to your videos is sahtein if you noticed
Amazing video and simply love your and your team's attitude and open-mindedness wherever you travel! Small comment: The pickles weren't ginger, but pickled sunchokes - the only pickle I'd ever want to eat as an iraqi kid, crunchy and sour 🤗 Thank you so much for visiting Iraq! Sincerest regards from here 🌱
Hey hey, great great video video, always amazing food and markets. Try to get your double double on correct. Know one from the countries you visit speak in doubles, just eat it.
That breakfast looks delicious David and I have to ask...what's the sentiment behind that new ring you've been wearing? Happy and safe travels/ eating!
This video reminds me of the first videos you made in India ❤ Btw David, i fucking love you look when tasting things, but afterwsrds you break out itsss amazing. Remember thats why i subbed from the beginnig, nice to se a video that reminds me of the old days ❤
Wow Gumpin thank you so much. I see you've been subbed for 4 years and I can't thank you enough for that kind of support and love. I'll do my best to break out afterward a bit more haha. I definitely will be trying to harness some of those old days just for you kind Gumpin. I take off my hat to you and once again truly thank you.
Thank you Devid for your videos .. you always make me laugh when you compare what you eat to something memorized from Indians food! I 've noticed that from many countries you have visited. You're like a man who compares everything to his mom's food :)
Copper market, wow still there, last time I've been there in 1980. In Iraq we have a proverb about a person who's speech worth nothing:- A fart in copper market.... you wouldn't hear it 😂
What a shame that the royal family of Iraq is no longer here. I wonder what would have been Iraqi peoples fate? The demise of the monarchy was the start of the dictatorship. Kahi and gaymar is lovely, great stuff.
How humble they are and do not have an iota of hatred or hatred or misbehavior and a lot of help there
Thank you
Gaymer is clotted cream and kahi is like puff pastry dipped in simple sugar syrup. It is best Iraqi breakfast!
🔥 with some fresh samoon and tea now ur making me hungry 😋
Roughly what price for this ? I'm going to be visiting Iraq from South Africa insha'Allah
Depends on which state you visit
Southern parts of Iraq has it cheap for like 3$ while in other areas it's roughky 3-5$@@sahirebrahim6412
Props for going to Iraq in 2022. Lots of amazing Armenians in Iraq as well. Took us in after the genocide.
I met lots of Armenian Iraqis in Baghdad. Love ARMENIA!!
@@Davidsbeenhere mm
