Just FYI Bill, there is a auto response option on fiverr for messages. This way as soon as a message comes in, it automatically sends a response immediately.
I believe, though, it doesn't count as responding...
Bill! I had this problem too and I figured it out. If you ever sent a custom offer and then either started working OR they ghosted you, the custom offer DOESN'T COUNT as responding. So I now send a message either before or after I send a custom offer. Hope that helps ^_^
Ironically, I believe direct marketing is actually killing the 5r VO market. It'll be my next step as well.
I think both are good. But the great thing about Direct Marketing, is that you can really build relationships with people in the VO/industry. And that is always going to be better than Fiverr.

If you have multiple gigs you can set different pricing to see what clients are biting at. You can also raise your gig extras pricing (commercial and full broadcast rights) and keep your word count price low. Play with pricing and see what works! K
