About the recording (including 2020S usage):
Recorded at 48kHz, 24Bit with Lynx Aurora converters.
Bass: The bass was tracked DI straight into the input of an LBA Trinity channel strip with no EQ or compression. The recording was then re-amped into a vintage Ampeg B-15NB with two 2020S's used between the re-amping box and the amp. The amp was mic'd up with a Neumann U87Ai and recorded into an LBA Trinity channel strip.
Guitar: There are two parts panned hard left and right. The rig is nearly identical. The difference is the left channel features a 1995 Fender Jag-Stang using the single coil pickup and the right channel is a modified Gibson SG Faded with a Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates in the neck position, used in single coil mode. The amp used is a 1979 Fender Pro Reverb with both the vibrato and reverb engaged. The pedal chain is: Guitar - 2020S - LBA NuVision - 2020S - passive T-pad attenuator -2020S - EH Bad Stone phaser - T-Rex Replicator tape delay - amp. The amp was mic'd up with a Royer R121 and tracked through an LBA Trinity channel strip.
Synth: MIDI tracked into protools with a stock soft-synth. Re-amped through a custom re-amp box - two 2020S's - LBA Trinity DI input.
Kick: 1972 Rogers kick 22" kick mic'd with an EV N/D868 into an LBA Trinity channel strip. Re-amped through custom re-amp box - one 2020S - LBA TI Box - LBA custom tube preamp.
Snare: Ripped paper. Mic'd up with U87Ai into Zoom H4N. Re-amped with custom re-amp box - one 2020S - LBA TI Box - LBA custom tube preamp.
HiHats: Bic Lighter. Mic'd up with Beyerdynamic MC930. Re-amped with custom re-amp box - one 2020S - LBA Trinity onboard DI input.
Mixed on custom LBA vacuum tube powered mixing board with custom LBA analog plate reverb (see previous videos for the crazy reverb saga).

Great video. I honestly don't have a clue what your talking about, but it looks like a good product for people who do. I would also like to take the opportunity to say that was an epic slow version of 'It's raining tacos' at the end!

i could see this after a overdrive where the overdrive output boost becomes the saturation amount control....but it still makes more sense that the two sides of the transformer are left floating individually to let the input and output reference to their receptive connections....then it's Also a common mode noise gate with no annoying threshold..

just got this in the mail today and it sounds so good. I just make music on my ipad so I previously got my harmonic distortion from software apps. I was content with them before I heard this thing. I also don't have a guitar amp, I just use guitar pedals (2 of which are Lightning Boy pedals, Thunder Knob and Soul Drive), and since they are made of real amp components, I don't think I need an amp. I inserted this in between my fuzz pedal and a buffer booster eq. Previously, I had to watch my volumes because it would distort the guitar in a bad way, but with this thing, its like it's compressing everything to be balanced. I can boost the lows or highs pretty high and it still sounds pleasant. Wow, I'm typing back and forth from playing the guitar, I just boosted my fuzz pedal all the way...I usually had to be careful with that one sounding so harsh, but it sounds so good. It seems like every guitar pedal or preamp should have this thing already installed in it. Although, after switching back and forth with and without the 2020S, it reminds me the difference of mogami gold and mogami platinum. Frequency wise, it sounds like mogami platinum because it tames the lows and cleans up the highs, but the mids and the low mids loses its thump. For my guitar, an Se Santana that focuses on the mid frequency, I favor the mogami gold over the platinum. It makes me wish this thing had a tone control. Just like I wish there was a tone control for guitar wire to get both the tone of mogami gold and mogami platinum. Do you think it would be possible to have a future version with a tone control or is that impossible to engineer?

Update: Found the solution. I find that it sounds thicker by mixing the transformerless signal with the 2020S in X blender pedal so now I can have the low mid thump of the dry signal and have the clean highs and 3d sounding 2020S..it sounds pretty good all running thru the 2020s, but i think it sounds better mixing both wet and dry signals

Thank you for the support! Sorry, no plans for a version with tone controls. Not enough room in the enclosure and it could only be “cut” knobs since this is a passive device. Enjoy!

@@LightningBoyAudio thanks for the reply, yeah, it would definitely have to be in a bigger box with a tone control. I was thinking of it being in a completely new box to be in direct competition with the sono audient preamp interface or any other tube preamp or tube pedal. It would have active eq: bass, mid, treble all with sweeping capabilities, 2 xlr or instrument jacks for option of recording vocals or instrument, including 2 tubes, with the option of turning them on or off, a 12au7 and 12ax7. So, for clean and richly harmonic vocals, we have the option of just turning on the 12au7. Also, have 2 transformers with the option of turning them on or off with a blend control mixing wet and dry signals. The 2020S transformer would be in the out to clean up the sound but on the input to have the option instead of steel, maybe copper to blend a dark and distorted fuzz. What do you think?

Oh, forgot to have the option of the 2 tubes to be rolled out easily with a durable tube socket, and easy access to change them out.
Edit:This thing might be way too much work in a niche category and way too expensive, so how about a darker version of the 2020S for a fuzz effect but be in a bigger box to include a mix knob for wet and dry signals?
Another Edit: i just found that darker fuzz transformer sound is already done with the bogner oxford pedal and it looks pretty hard to beat since it has a neve transformer in it.
But I switched around my pedals and the 2020S sounds beautiful with the soul drive pedal as its booster.

It’s about 145k Ohms, but that can change a bit depending on what is connected to it.

I'm from Iran and we have no access to buy anything from outside the country, I wanna use this between my electric guitar and
Axe-Fx II in my signal chain, my pick ups are Dimarzio PAF7 with DC resistance about 7.23 k ohm, my friend is a professional in electronic engineering and winding advanced transformers , I need detail information about transformers u use in your products, I did a lot of search about it , many people recommend 10k:10k or 600:600 audio transformers, I need your help to make my own transformer to get rid of hum , thank you for your support @@LightningBoyAudio

    why is the mic there?

The Neumann U87 is a great sounding mic and it needs to be in front of a persons face to properly pick up their voice. My decision to use it here was sort of for $h!tz & giggles considering I have many options to pick from. I think it’s important to have fun. This U87 wasn’t having fun in my mic locker, so I gave it a moment in the spotlight. Thanks for watching!

It's more compressed and has more mid.
