@@JackNance22 I deeply tried to figure out a way to make it so a tube preamp could be retrofitted, but reliability became a quick factor. Reliability is a major factor for me. I want products that last a lifetime, not 2 years and done, or damaged in shipping. So, due to the form factor of this design, tubes are a no-go. It's nothing to do with tubes in general. I love tubes even though they make the product more expensive to build. They sound great, but so do JFET transistors (specifically over all other transistors).
@@LightningBoyAudio Yes, of course, one must do whatever works best. And I agree that JFET transistors sound excellent. I find driving the transformers just right is where most of the flavor is, which your current preamp design knocks out of the park. Looking forward to getting a pair, I need some of those transformer passive boxes too!
I have one and have been using it for a few weeks. Seems great with everything I have thrown at it so far.
Thanks for your support!
Did you build a winder or is that purchased?
are you gonna do tubes?
I might do a tube opamp as an option/upgrade for the Dark Storm in the future. It’s something I’ve been putting a lot of thought into.
@@LightningBoyAudio Was wondering about tubes myself. That unit seems real cool, and love that you're all in house in NY.
@@LightningBoyAudio That would tick every box for me, I really dig your work.
