- he Bay Area is being hit by a major hurricane. Winds are down to 120 mph and is weakening. Unfortunately, the surge will be a big issue for much of the coast. The NHC has adjusted the track closer to the Bay. They now forecast a surge of 6 to 9 feet in the Bay. That is lower than the 10-15 feet surge originally predicted. I suspect the SOUTHERN Bay will see more water than the Northern side.

In northeastern Hillsborough now, right at the most north eastern point in the Lutz area. Praying the severe winds don’t become an issue. This is the ugliest storm I’ve ever experienced here in Tampa, and I was born and raised here.

I know it seems crazy to think 120 mph is a relief but 5 is just where things get flattened. My house was built in 1938 so it's survived a lot with the exception of a direct lightening hit which blew my chimney into the street in TS Ella. Had to get a new roof and chimney and electronics but otherwise okay.

Nice going! You just said that you have no idea how hurricanes are explained to the public without saying you don't understand why weather reporters say what they say.
In other words they didn't over-hype the storm. Because in the first place Milton made that wobble to the right which took it south 10 miles off its track to hit Tampa Bay head on. Nobody can predict those little wobbles.
Then they down graded the storm surge from the worst case 10-15 feet to 6-9 feet.
And like he said it is better to be prepared for the worst and hope for the best. This is still a very severe hurricane!!
