Paw Patrol understander here. The cop dog isn’t technically the main character in the same way that Leonardo isn’t the main character of TMNT. He gets a lot of attention and is usually put in the middle of any lineup, but he is part of a team.
The Paw Patrol is a team of talking dogs who all drive vehicles that a toddler would get excited to see outside the window of their moms SUV: cop car, fire truck, bulldozer, helicopter, etc. Ambulance is conspicuously absent even after like 5 seasons of adding new characters.
The cop dog does not fight crime, because the show doesn’t have the kinds of conflict that involve fighting. He mostly just puts up police tape to keep bystanders away, and he has a net gun that he uses mostly to catch people falling off of cliffs. When all the dogs got super powers for a season he got super speed.
For the record, Rubble is the best dog by far. He’s way funnier than Marshal (the one who’s supposed to be the funny one) and he consistently pulls off feats of impossible engineering that single handedly saves the day. He does all the heavy lifting (literally and figuratively), he’s the only one with a watchable spinoff cartoon, and if he were real he could fix every pothole in the US by himself in a week.

It is wild that they haven't added an ambulance dog yet. I guess it's because the advanced medical equipment on an ambulance wouldn't really help a Paw Patrol plot the same way a giant crane, hook, or firehose would?

Tho my serious opinion on paw patrol (from my time as a babysitter) is the character designs are cute and serve their purpose well. The story is just a vehicle to see cute dogs drive vehicles. It's no Bluey, but it's easy to see why children enjoy it. Kids like puppies and they like cool cars/boats/planes. Put the two together and you've got a winner.
There's even a pink one with a helicopter, so the girls have air supremacy.

I have a kid but I fully agree that you shouldn't take kids to the theater unless it's a movie for babies. I remember being in a theater for the third Matrix movie. THE WHOLE. TIME. A kid whose dad took him there kept shouting "OOOH! DAT'S GOTTA HOYT!" everytime someone got hit. After a while he just kept whining "Daddy, can we pwease leave da feater? Everyone else is leaving da feater!"

Bluey is hard to call a show for kids. Like it's kid friendly, kid safe, enjoyable to kids, sure all those things are true. But to say adults aren't part of the target demographic feels like it would be really dishonest. We're so used to approaching that sentiment with skepticism, because whenever a kids show contains an adult joke, goofballs on the internet feel the need to white knight for it and defend its honor, because they're ashamed something with softer more digestible themes gives them comfort, and they'd rather pretend its "more adult than people give it credit for". But in the case of Bluey, it is a show about childhood and parenthood in EQUAL measure.

As it turns out, people love genuine, compassionate stories about family.
I mean all shows are made by adults. Its not new for a kids show to be entertaining to adults. I mean there is alot of slop out there for kids but also alot of really high quality stuff.
I went back and watched some muppets and sesame street a few months ago and it was amazing.
I watched a few episodes of yo gabba gabba once while watching some kids and I was pretty floored by the production quality.
I could go on and on. Rugrats, My little pony, and lots of others can be very wholesome, well made, and have a wide appeal.

Blue Eyed Samurai started good, but then in like the last 4 episodes everyone seems to have contracted the Stupid Virus. Everyone just starts behaving totally out of character and making the dumbest possible decisions for the sake of trying to add drama. Such a disappointment.

Arcane has people getting shot in the head in cold blood and a little girl accidentally blowing up her whole family, opens with a gruesome scene of someone choking and drowning another person under shallow water, and children die in multiple episodes. "For kids" and "liked by kids" arent the same thing
Ok Shield Hero starts Rough but I promise it gets better, the main character learns how to trust and rely on people again like halfway through the first season, but honestly I only kept watching it bc I thought it was batshit insane that he literally buys a slave girl in the second episode and it stays insane bc at the end of the season they fight the Pope and his space laser

You can't control people bringing their kids with them for travel, but you can control how you let it affect you. It's silly to sit there and pout about a problem when you can take simple steps to make it *not* a problem. A person with sensitive hearing complaining about loud noise when there is purchasable equipment to mitigate that problem is like a person with poor eyesight complaining that not everything is written in large letters instead of just buying glasses.

Anime *is* super defined outside of japan, just like manga is. It's japanese cartoons, cartoons that come from japan. In japan the term 'anime' takes the place of animated cartoon in the english speaking world and means any animated show or film.
Chinese "anime" is called Donghua and is a different thing even if some people don't understand the simple difference and still refer to it as anime.
Blue-eyed samurai is objectively not an anime. It's a western cartoon just like samurai jack or avatar.

I’m not joking. She’s not just the person who starts the main conflict, she (or at least, the goddess she is a fragment of) is also responsible for the dimensional incursions that beset the world The Four Heroes are tasked with saving. At one point, she’s married off to a sadistic king and raped to death, before a reincarnated hero she befriended/manipulated resurrects her while trying to destroy the kingdom in revenge, before her soul is erased, and then the alternate version of her from the world that Glass is from ascends to godhood before Naofumi reflects the concept of absolute death on every version of her across every dimension, timeline, and possibility.
I’m not joking.
All of that happens in this story.

I will die on this hill: not every animated series or feature movie that comes from japan is an anime. The biggest one I do not consider anime is everything Hayao Miyazaki has made. Those are just cartoons/animation. And not in a derogatory sense - they are amazing and I love them to death, but if I ask someone what their favorite anime is and they start listing Miyazaki's works, I will slap them across the face. It sounds like a romance manga, but it really isn't just about that. That is part of it sure, but not the main hook imo. The real hook is ... I don't know how to say without spoiling it really.
Just try it out. There is part where it gets a little slow (the Envy arc), but before and after that it's constant banger chapters.
Also if you actually want a funny romance with shonen action elements, that delivers more on the romance aspects, read Kindergarten Wars.

I've never really actually understood what makes Americans consider Avatar to be anime, but not like half of the American animations from the 80's and 90's (some of which was actually animated in Japan, unlike Avatar, Boondocks and everything but two episodes of Wakfu). Why Avatar, but not Batman or Gargoyles or the old X-Men show? On the other hand is stuff like Cat Soup, La Maison en Petits Cubes and Panty & Stocking not anime? Hell Panty & Stocking is generally brought up as the counter example to show a Japanese show being in a non-western style to contrast with western "anime", mainly with it's style being compared to the Powerpuff Girls... but... is the Powerpuff Girls anime? Like the design of the girls themselves show some clear inspiration from chibi art and things like Hello Kitty and the premise is just some transformation scenes short of being a regular monster-of-the-week magic-girl show. Samurai Jack was heavily inspired by older seinen manga like Lone Wolf and Cub, so is Samurai Jack an anime? On the other hand Japanese animations like Kaiba is heavily inspired by Tezuka's (early) art-style, but if anime is just an art-style, does that even fit the "anime style"? Some characters look like they could be straight out of Adventure Time (which I think the director of Kaiba even did an episode of) or Regular Show. And if Kaiba's anime status is in question ...is Astro-Boy even an anime?

I won't deny feeling a certain generalized antipathy towards the human race at times, but I like kids well enough. Nonetheless, I think it's completely reasonable for there to be certain times and settings where it is looked oddly upon to have children out. Like if you want to take your kids to the movies, that's fine, and no it doesn't necessarily have to be The Paw Patrol Movie or some insipid crap like that(better that it isn't, really), but make it a matinee. Let the night belong to lovers. If you're on a trip and need to make a pit stop, I've been there, I get it, but your child does not need a bag of chips and a soda at 9:30 p.m.(or ever, frankly, but we live in the world we live in), and you should be fully prepared to drag their little butt back to the car and put them in time out if they demonstrate an unwillingness to behave themselves.

Some people have a legitimate, extremely grating reaction to babies crying called misophonia. Misophonia can also be triggered by chewing gum, loud eating. Its comorbid with anxiety, stress, and depression disorders. Comparing with my own sensory issues, I can't exactly fault them. Antinatalism probably includes a large amount of these folks.

I think I stopped watching cartoons in general back then between 2004 and 2008, (not talking about anime) so I really don't know much about anything related to animation, but back then I started to lose interest in all western animation when it became so weirdly alienating to me, I've also always been too bitter and contrarian I guess, so as far back as when I was in Elementary school I thought a lot of cartoons were lame and stupid.
