I bought an AA6 recently, and I think the Mark IV without the EQ sounds much better. Maybe the stock cab is very mid scooped. I also tried it out with an own hammer Mesa cab, and again I like it better without the EQ.

I always find that having the Q value above 1 makes the sound cuts better especially in a recording environment. Having it low might sound good when you're playing alone but in a mix, the sound gets a bit muffled as of there's a blanket covering your cab
Higher Q is like using a surgical scalpel, a lower q is more like a butchers knife

@@LeonTodd 4 new amp simulators, Mesa Dual Recto, Friedman HBE, Mesa Boogie Lonestar and Matchelles DC 30, they has a huge difference qualitity compared the others..
worth a review and try with your impulses (hehe)

Don't have direct experience with the Amplifirebox but it is the same set of models just in a more compact format.

When playing live , do you send a stereo signal to FOH , or just mono ?

I wish you did this type of video with the Helix. Curious as to your thoughts on the Helix platform. My opinion is that it offers the most realistic amp simulations of any modeler out there. That being said, I suspect that the fractal stuff is easier to get a metal tone with. Some of the parameters I've seen you alter in the AX8 (input gain, output level, and the amp block will have a volume, gain and master volume as well) aren't based in reality as far as modeling an amp----they are parameters that give you a great metal tone quickly. I feel like Line 6 got hung up on modeling accuracy and Fractal got hung up on great tone quickly. Not right or wrong, just different paths to great tone. I think the Fractal gets you there quicker for metal. Just curious as to your thoughts?
I want to make the move to digital but I don’t know anything about these EQs, filters and roll offs. It discourages me from making the leap.
i can definitely understand that feeling. What modelelrs give you control over are the down-stream factors that you might usually let the sound engineer take care of - mic placement, EQ and any post effects. it's daunting at first but simple enough to learn, and invaluable in the long run IMO.
