    1:05 Awesome video, as usual, congratulations, but, yes, you can do that with the AF 6! You can assign 2 switches for preset up and down, either by individual presets or by tens. It´s on page 52 of the manual, in case other owners want to try. The AF6 is a lot of fun, incredibly natural and organic sounds, I've had mine for a month, only, it makes me want to play more. Cheers from Brazil, and keep up your fantastic work here on YT.

    Thanks for comparing these! It's pretty cool now that there are so many products that can give us good tones going direct. I remember the old Zoom 9000S. Good clean tones, but the crunchy tones left something to be desired, especially in comparison to then.

    Man I really like your videos, thank you for this. A while ago I had an amplifire with 3 knobs, loved that thing. The playing didn't feel as organic, responsive and tube-like as my Axe FX 2 and the sound was not as rich but that electronic tight compression it had made it sound almost better, more powerful, tight and in your face. I went with the Fractal and sold the other but the choice was not that easy. The Atomic was so light, I could throw it in the air, 2 backflips and catch it back no problem. I made a comparison of them on my channel. On the waiting list for an FM3, very excited but I think fractal could find inspiration in Atomic's pedal format, that 6 and 12 combination is killer !

      Yeah the fractal stuff is legit, sounds so much like a real amp. The atomic stuff is like an "idealised" version of those amps and definitely sounds amazing too. Can't wait for the FM3!

    I realize you're kidding! You're about the only guy who handles all approaches, as I've said before, indiscriminate. You want a MP1, through a Mesa amp, Vintage 30 up against a Marshall JCM, up against an Axe FX, up against an Amplifier, up against Bias FX? LEON TODD's the man for the job. Hell of a player too!

    Stupid question: Its greatr to play with the Atomic 12 through headphones but taking it on stage (volume etc) after you have your presets already set seems to be a big challenge. Is there any way you could make a video on how to convert to stage volume etc after you sit on the computer and set yourt pedalboard up? Maybe also a video on the different ways to preset the pedals (AB) etc??

    Hello,
    First, very informative and honest review/comparison video! Thank you for posting. Can you tell me if external dual foot pedal parameters can be stored for each saved preset on the unit? more specifically, 1 external pedal for gain control and 1 external pedal for volume? This very basic feature was lacking in the Line6 Live and is ONE of the reasons I got rid of it. Thanks in advance for your time and efforts.

    Atomic Amps AmpliFire 6 & Morningstar MC6 vs Atomic Amps AmpliFire 12. The former will cost a bit more but would give you more options for different setup scenarios. Alternately paired with the Boss MS-3 which would add relay switching when mixing it with an analog amp/hybrid setup \m/

    Most (if not all) of the videos for either of these units haven't really explored the expression pedal capabilities in relation to the unit's onboard wah, pitch shifting, and modulation effects. If the 6 were being used as the centerpiece of an existing pedalboard, those sorts of functions would be a big factor I think. What's been your experience using the expression functionality? #expressyourself

      @@LeonTodd explore lots of different parameters with this if you do -- there used to be all sorts of bugs for me in trying to assign different parameters to expression from the computer editor and I was forced to always assign expression pedal control via hardware editor to know my assignment was going to actually hold. I think wah was fine, but I was working with some of the deeper delay parameters and...really buggy.

    Leon how would you compare the Atomic to the AX8 in terms of quality of tones?

    • @tonykennedy8483
      @tonykennedy8483 6 років тому +1

      I've owned both. The simple comparison is the Atomic AA3 I had was like driving my girlfriends Ford Fiesta, perfectly acceptable and gets you where you need to be, but my AX8 is like my BMW 330 MSport. Does everything the AA3 did, but sooooo much better!
      The Fractal is just better: better amp tones, better effects, etc
      The Atomic is no slouch mind you, but there is a big difference to my ear in tone, quality and feel
      I ended up selling the AA3 and got a HX Stomp. Which itself is very good, and closer to the AX8, but still no-where near where i'd even consider parting with the Fractal
      If I saw an AA6 for sale at a good price I'd certainly get one as they're great handy units and I've improved my FRFR's now so I'm sure I might like it a bit better
      It depends what you want from the unit. The Fractal is twice the price and a big leap in complexity (Should you want to deep dive into tweaking). Some think they're on a comparable level. I didn't find that at all. But as a b/rig or backup to something like the AX8 the AA3/AA6 and HX Stomp are invaluable

    • @tonykennedy8483
      @tonykennedy8483 6 років тому

      @Linus I had mine up until the HX Stomp came out and I sold it to pay for the Stomp.
      The Stomp's a real useful little box, actually sat programming it right now for a gig where I dont want to take the AX8.
      With modern modellers I dont think you can go too wrong. They're all capable of great stuff. It just depends on what you want it to do soundwise and how well you set it up

    • @CentaurusRelax314
      @CentaurusRelax314 6 років тому

      I was just about to try to ask Leon for his opinion on this. I owned an AA3 for about 6 months, a couple of years ago. I thought it was 'okay.' But, it never *moved* me. When i hear people demoing the Amplifire on youtube, it sounds 'okay.' When i hear the fractals, it sounds 'like wow.' Something is just better/more exciting. I don't quite get it, because when there are direct comparisons between the two units, the differences are so slight, if they exist at all. I'm wondering more recently if it's a matter of the fractals having better delays and reverbs? And the actual amp models are what are almost even? So, might it be an even match to compare an Amplifire *plus* a couple of excellent reverb and delay pedals? I dunno. I'm about to spend twice the money on the AX8, but have been hoping for some rationalization to go back to the Amplifire. But when there are players who have both, they almost invariably save the Atomic for 'backup' duty to the Fractal. That has to mean something, no?
      Oh, yeah-i really, really, really need to nail the EVH Brown Sound. Thats why i won't even consider a Helix, and part of the reason why i didn't love the Amplifire. It just didn't do EVH nearly as well as what i've heard over and over from the Fractals.
      I had the AA3, and part of my dislike was the lack of footswitches. I just needed more. If i went back, it would be for the 6 or 12, and the other part of the appeal is that i just love the idea of having separate pedals. Went to Guitar Center the other day and the glass cases with all those beautiful devices was just so compelling. A more interesting approach than the 'one box' Fractal AX8. But, then i'd have to deal with the practical issues of Power, and cables, but still.... Pedals are cool.

      I owned a Helix LT and I thought it sounded like garbage. I also had a Kemper for a week or so and I thought it sounded good but it's a bit of a rabbit hole finding the right profile. Im just trying to find the right thing for me. I am looking for something with good presets because im not much of a tweaker.
