This camera wasn’t built for any specific classic user type - pro, videographers, spec slut, cinema cam lovers, etc. It’s strictly a small body for travel and causal use. look at the ads and it’s clear who the target is
8:40 The perfect travel camera for me. Dont need flash, rarely ever shoot with flash. I use continuous light ie Godox AD100 pro with a fresnel etc. Dont care to drag my R5 in my carry on bag on an international trip. Own many pro cameras an video equipment. Yeah, I'll use the S9. Maybe leave my M6mk2 at home when traveling. Another pretty cool tool.
This camera was not built to appeal to experienced photographers and videographers at least not as a primary tool. But there’s plenty of times when quick and light and good enough is better than toting around a full sized mirrorless or DSLR. I see a camera that’s a pretty good option for experimenting with video looks during a location scout as one possibility, or as an ultra compact for quicky gathering social media content and the like. Particularly for video work, think of it like a 16mm handheld some directors would use during preproduction. The S9 will tuck into a jacket pocket in a way the S5II just can’t. A very useful tool for those times when you can work within the given operating limits.
I would have bought the S9 but I already bought the S5ii a couple of months ago and love it. The truth is that I do like the EVF but I almost never use it. I would prefer it on a manual focus only lens but i use the screen magnification square on the back screen most of the time when in manual focus mode anyway. The real issue for me would be the lack of flash for stills. Video users can attach a rechargeable light that fits in the hot shoe. I don't mind carrying the S5ii in a small bag however and it has weather sealing which i have yet to hear if the S9 is weather sealed or not. Pocketable means that you will most likely bring it with you every where- every day and that makes it worth every penny. the LUTS button feature means WAY less time editing on a computer and that brings the fun factor WAY up. I think this is supposed to be a Fun camera not meant for commercial work though I'm sure it is very capable. Thanks for the review.
Because it's perfect for the people that think it is....beauty is IN the eye of the beholder. My opinion is it's a brilliant camera but of course it's not a camera for everyone.S5mkII has all the bells and whistles but its doesn't fit in a pocket and isnt a LUTmonster. The screen should be higher res(like Fuji XA7) and Kit lens should have been available.
Because they are not expecting mid to full flagship specs. It is the entry to the full frame world of Panasonic. Its a tiny camera. People are expecting unicycles to have 4 wheels.
Does the M6 MK 2 have weather sealing? No. No its not meant to go swimming with. Just like my smartphone. The Canon M6 mk 2 has no "weather sealing". I've never had an issue
@@DreamReleases What ? Who cares about a 4 year old camera from Canon. I could list cameras all day without WS, but we're talking about the Lumix S9 in 2024. Leaving out key features to cut costs is one thing, but basic Weather Sealing should have been included for 1500 bucks. I think most modern smartphones have a degree of Weather protection, I know Samsung and Apple do.
The best compact FF camera? Yes, if all you will do with the camera is show others how small it is. And it is small, with a slow manual lens. It even takes photos or video when there is enough light, a tripod, little motion, just like cameras in the 30s.

Or at a night club, museum, or venue where pro camera bodies are refused. literally hundreds if not thousands of uses.

It is weather sealed
The lack of a view finder was my #1 decision to buy this camera. View finders are cave age tech that should be eliminated from all cameras in 2024.
The most honest review for this camera I have seen since last week. How come some others channels called it almost perfect!

@@PPLRRNfor the same money you buy a s5ii or a Sony a7c ii. 😂
Nice review, thanks for being critical
Best english review I've seen. 🎉
No Evf, Hot shoe, MS but why did they leave out weather sealing? this is meant to be a go anywhere camera.
£1500 that's a joke...

If only it had a viewfinder ...
You chose the red color. Not been to Osaka, Japan.
to make this camera "affordable" as possible? ahahaha.
When they bring out same priced full frame with much more feature.
🔥🔥

Compared to the full frame ZVE1, I think it is the best.
Such video limits in 2024. OMG, Panasonic, what are you doin'?
That's all I need is 10-15 minutes in a compact travel camera. Thats all most people need for clips and B roll traveling
