Quit any disk utilities or other programs that are using this drive, and make sure that no window is displaying the contents of the drive. Then try formatting again' will be fixed. Fantastic! But do remember to click "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives" after formatting the drive. I forgot to do this and my laptop did not compress the memory any more and it crushed a lot.

Yaaaay. Tnks. This works for me. My HDD hard drive was giving issues for weeks. I removed it and plug it to external adapter and tried ur method. But i changed the File system to exFAT instead of NTFS (Default) and it worked... this is 2024.

TY for this. I didn't even have to go to the point of formatting, as getting rid of the page file in my drive removed the issue of overly allocated space. Others may wish to format as they require, of course.
