@@anthonyprovenzano2347 Don't apologize. The communist Government and culture of Vietnam is doing just fine. They are at peace and appear successful and content. There was no guarantee the so-called "Free" Government would have done anything better.

This was a very moving story. I wish we could have given my father this level of tribute. He was a US Marine pilot in WWII, Pacific theater. I hope to see him and my mother again. Thank you for sharing this moment with us.

Thanks to all that served in Vietnam; and the wives and kids that endured their father being deployed when you are a 7 year old military dependent. Dad made $78 a month in 1965, in 1977 I made $192 a month, when I got out in 1980 I was making $375 a month as a sergeant in the united states army, went into the active reserves and got out in 1984. :)

I'm sobbing. I'm sobbing for all the years they were put down, spit on, called baby killers. It wasn't their fault. They were drafted. They didn't want to be there, just as much as the majority of Americans didn't want them there. It was no fault of their own. It was white men in suits at the White House who were the real baby killers and deserve to be spat on. These men and women are heros. It kills me that not all got this welcome, and I pray that the rest who are still with us do. Taking up a letter writing campaign in my hometown starting now, to thank the vets. Especially the Vietnam vets. It was an unfair and unjust war, and they were children. Nothing but babies. To every vet out there. From every war--thank you for your service. We love you and appreciate you. We're so happy you're home, and so sorry for your brothers and sisters who didn't make it.

Why can't you help this Nam Vet who needs help repairing my home ? That is falling down ? I no doubt made a mistake saying this , for I love where I live I just need help . I hate asking for help at 72 but I truly need it . I just don't want to lose my home living here for 40 year by itself! I moved here to have peace and quiet , now I need help that I never thought I would need, I survived Vietnam and give me respect somehow without begging ! Thank you .

I 'read hats' and look for military insigna every time I am public, and always shake hands and thank veterans for their service and all they gave when I see them! Last week in our local grocery store I saw a couple shoping , and he had on his Army cap, so I stopped them and shook hands with him. As we talked for a minute, he mentioned that he had been ashamed to show his service until recently, and I was only the 2nd person to stop and thank him! That is disgraceful!
Did the idiots that protested so vehemently ever stop to think , exactly what the Viet Cong would have have done if no one had opposed them? Did they think that they would have just said "o k we won, let's go home now", or would they just have kept going as long as no one opposed them? Bullies don't stop just because they won a fight, it just gives them permission to go on to bigger , or weaker opponents!
These Veterans flights are a great, but belated way to show them how grateful we are for them, in so many ways, for all of us to live free!
THANK YOU ALL FOR ALL YOU GAVE,
(not just the ones on the flight!)
    y

These veterans are really pulling one off on the younger generation. They've always portrayed themselves as victims of politicians and an unsupportive American public. What they didn't get in the 60s-70s they're sucking out of the present generation. It was an illegal war. The US never declared war on Vietnam. EVERY ONE of these guys made a choice to go to an ever increasing unpopular war...they were NOT forced to go. They never had control in the war despite all the incredible resources they had at their disposal. Yes, they had several advantages. There was also the problem of war crimes against the Vietnamese people. It got so bad in the later years of the war that US soldiers "fragged" (grenade) their own officers to resist orders. They must take some of the responsibility for politicians and the American public to turn on the war....and even them. They were not all "saints" over there...anymore than the enemy they fought were. For me, they're much more of an embarrassment to themselves and my generation today....than they were during and after the war. They never really grew up and moved forward.
