      🤣🤣🤣… not laughing at you, but with you! I got a new stove and pulling the old one out showed all the canning I had done last year on the sides of it! 🤦‍♀️

    Sounds like you accomplished a lot. We started out figuring out all the different ways we were able to preserve and then narrowed it down to what we actually use. 😁

      That’s what I did this year. Last year I did a lot of stuff because it looked and sounded interesting, this year I’m only doing what we will actually use. It’s a great plan! Have a blessed day dear friends!

    I just knew that at the end you would confess that you loved it - and you did! We had company over and I prepared a pile of corn on the cob. It felt so good to have leftovers to pull from afterward. I usually cut the corn off the cobs that were not eaten and I had a pile this time. So after freezing the cooked corn kernels, I boiled the cobs and set the strained liquid in fridge until tonight. I made corn cob jelly for the first time. It smells like fresh corn and I can't wait to taste some tomorrow. It was only 5 pints but I think that was wonderful for something I would normally throw away. My oven roasted tomatoes turned out so so so good with that Balsamic oil drizzled over. I wanted to make a pizza but decided to freeze them instead to make a roasted tomato soup. That with grilled cheese sandwiches will be a wonderful winter treat. Not much else but I did get a ton of big weeds pulled and a little more excited about my fall garden. I'm so thankful for your videos to keep me wanting to join in your fun. Hard work but still FUN! Have a beautiful day tomorrow - love, Mary

      Hi Mary, I bet your company had a blast at your house! All of that corn sounds so delicious. I’m hoping to go to Lilac Lane next week and get some. I love doing roasted tomatoes also! I have done some canned roasted tomatoes this week. I am in the process of making some tomato soup and my word, I’m going to have to do some with roasted tomatoes now. I am so pleased that you were able to get out in the garden and do some weeding. My fall garden has some seedlings coming up but I’m also not seeing some things. I’m so busy with canning and the rest of my life that I’ve had to kind of ignore it a little bit. I do go out and water the seedlings and harvest, but my weeds are kind of growing. fortunately, there still is not a lot of Bermuda grass in the food forest to keep up with. That is a blessing! Thanks so much for watching, and for always being willing to comment and share your life with me. I love it! ❤️❤️❤️

    Was this different than what you've preserved in past years? I assumed that people were just documenting what they do every harvest season..

    • @OpenHandFarm
      @OpenHandFarm  Рік тому +1

      Hi Andrea, yes, it is different! I have not been preserving very long. The only kind of preserving I’ve done was water bath and it was years ago. Last year I found this challenge and I decided to go gung ho and attack that pressure canner and go for it! I had never canned this much in my life! This every bit counts challenge really stretched me and grew me to start preserving more for my family. This year I grew a bigger garden so that I could preserve my own foods. You can see my garden videos on my channel. Thanks so much for watching and for your comment! Blessings on your day!
