Well done Dave. I have many fond memories of Castleton, I was the second head waiter at the Olde Nag's Head when it had a real restaurant. It was a different place then when local people lived there, before the toffs priced them out. The village used to be bustling all year round. We used to marvel at all the things in the shops that were made out of the stunningly beautiful Blue John, a stone unique to this village, the best pieces were an extremely deep blue. Same situation anywhere that's peaceful and beautiful. We moved from the Manchester area to N Cornwall nearly 40 years ago with a young family. Now only a handful of people have lived here longer than us. Nothing but retirees and second homes.
Dave, thank you for this brilliant video. I never imagined that anyone would bother to video a walk with no chatter. It allows me to be there, in my own mind, with my own discoveries. In all honesty it's the most worthwhile video I've ever watched on UA-cam. I feel calmed, refreshed and inspired.
I don't think I've ever seen so much charm packed into one single place before. Filmed with a proper camera and no bullshit music or erratic camera movement. Thank you, this video is an experience.

I live in Swinton nearby so this place is literally on my doorstep and I love it. I feel so proud to live near to such beautiful villages. I've been here many times and always found the place and the people so lovely and friendly 🙂
Such a wonderful place. Thank you so much for the walk around! I have always been in love with English villages and towns as such. When I was studying in England, I was graciously invited to a wonderful couples cottage in rural Norfolk, and it was one of the most magical, best few days of my life. Paul and Valyrie really took care of us (me and another student who had arrived from Vietnam). We had sat in the tea house overlooking the garden, and Mrs. Valyrie had been kind enough to inudlge us in a spot of Afternoon Tea! I shall never forget, and shall always be grateful that I was afforded such an experience, by two people whom I'd never met! I hope to return someday and just walk around, take those moments back in some form. Health, happiness and peace to all! :)
deeply thank you Dave for making this kind of video without music. I loooooove England countryside and so wish I can walk on those streets one day. Thank you and thank you
My heritage is steeped in England (and to a less degree Scotland and Ireland) as my DNA leans heavily British, and since I was a very small child I have longed to visit. Knowing I probably will never step foot on the land I feel an inexplicable, soul deep connection to, these strolls through the villages and countryside are the next best thing. Thank you for giving folks a peek into these unique, truly lovely places.
