One of the most beautiful city centres in England. I was there in August and found myself wandering around on the top of those walls. And York Minster is spectacular. It looks so good in this video. Pin sharp photography. Beautiful job. Thanks.
My young daughter and l had a flat very close to the Minster in the late 90's she had a friend whose' father worked at the Minster and they lived in one of the large houses , their garden ran right up to these walls and they would enjoy playing there when l dropped her off and collected her l would go into the garden stand and look and think how lucky we both were at that moment in time .l never once took it for granted .Good memories.
SORT OF SCARY ON HIGH WALLS WALK, WISH YOU WOULD HAVE STOPPED FEW MORE TIMES TO SEE WHAT WAS VIEW BOTH SIDES, I GOT DIZZY CAMERA BOUNCING AS YOU WALKED QUICKLY TINY SPACE PASSING OTHERS, YIKES!! I AM SO AMAZED HOW TIGHTLY HOMES ARE SQUEEZED IN MANY OF YOUR WALKS, NARROW ROADS, DANGEROUS PARKING, CARS MUCH LARGER THAN OLD DAYS!!! BUT ALWAYS, ALL LOOKS NEAT, CLEAN, WELL CARED FOR PROPERTIES, RARELY SAW ANYONE MOWING, ETC. GUESS ALWAYS VERY EARLY AM. THANK YOU, IM 82, WA STATE USA, SMALL TOWN, USED TO WALK DAILY, ALWAYS WANTED TO SEE YOUR COUNTRY!! ❤ THE WAVES YOU GIVE!!! greatgrma nan
Thank you so much for sharing. What a beautiful town and so full of history. My husband’s niece lives in Chippenham, I’m not sure where that’s located but I would love to see York. Pretty much all of England. She invited us to visit her and her family but we both need the right timing from our jobs, to be able to visit her, when we do it’ll be for two weeks and we’ll stay at her home since she has an extra bedroom for us. Saves on money for a hotel lol.. Cheers from Southern California and a have a great and blessed 2024! 😁
York is in the north of England and more than two hundred miles from Chippenham I think. You could get there by train in about four hours but it would take longer to drive and either way I suggest you would have to stay a night or two to make the trip worthwhile.
I am more than happy for people to comment in what ever language they please, I know I have a very large non English speaking audience whom are all welcome to enjoy my content!
Walking is a super gentle way to keep fit….. physically mentally emotionally….. giving you a great appetite…. Hope you had an enjoyable treat to eat and a refreshing drink…..and a well deserved sit down….❤….
Thanks for another beautiful walk around the countryside of York and it is very beautiful and the best scenery ever very interesting and very beautiful to see and thanks for your great videos i really enjoy them a lot. God Bless You and Thank You Dave and have a very beautiful week and until your next new video Take Care and Thank You Dave. 📹📱🚶🚶🚶🚶📱📹
There's a lotta history in those walls. Every brick, building, walk way that has a secret of things that have happened that humans will never know. The beginnings. Just a ¼ of knowledge man wouldn't understand. WHY, WHEN and who. Thank you for sharing this. I'll never be able to visit here. But your videos are 👍 💯% 🇺🇲
Your is a beautiful city shame minster was having work done on it.I would have licked to have seen inside the Minster, walls are complete great 😊 walk but like Chester walks around the city thank David Annx
Hi Dave, made the whole walk with you. I was in York 30 years ago and due to mild tummy troubles I did not get too see very much of the city nor get up on the wall to see the sights. This is the first of your videos I have watched. Looking forward to watching them all! Shannon in Northern California
You go on the most fascinating walks. I have 45% ancestral British, Irish, Scottish DNA and I find myself getting so excited just seeing parts of Great Britain that I may never see except through your lens or what I read in Books...etc. Thank you very much.🙏🇺🇸🇬🇧🌵
What a beautiful city York is. I just love York Minster, It's such a majestic church. Thank you Dave for taking us along the York walk, it was absolutely lovely. York is on my itinerary this year so I'll be able to experience it myself.❤
Wow! This is beautiful. Love the ecological diversity between the ground and the canopy, with the walk way in between. Thank you so much, from San Diego, California.
We enjoyed watching this enormously. We lived in York for many years, and it was wonderful seeing the old sights again. Thank you for sharing your walk through our wonderful hometown. We miss it so ❤
You Brits certainly know how to preserve and showcase your cultural heritage. In a well planned and evolving city even the newer buildings will become part of that heritage eventually. Your walk illustrated it perfectly. Thanks for a nicely thought through and produced video. Loved how the chap busking outside York Cathedral was playing traditional music rather than murdering contemporary hits with a raucous amplifier. It all added to the atmosphere.
I finally got a break from a very chaotic schedule to catch up on your videos. What a pleasant surprise to see York!! Pure nostalgia for me and I enjoyed every minute 😊🏵
Lovely video, thanks for sharing. Did a similar walk around York some 34 years ago, and unsurprisingly not much has changed, However the tree shown at 17.36 by the Minster and the York Arms has grown to a great size. All the best, Peter.
Thank you so very much for this. I have always wanted to go to York and this video of you walking past York Minster and along the walls was wonderful to watch.
I REALLY loved this walk Dave, for both nostalgic reasons (I was in York way back in 2013 and visited York Minster and The Shambles), and because I never had the opportunity to do the wall-walk, which i am so happy that I could experience now thru your lens. Thanks for this one, and for the quality videos you always provide. Great job mate.
I wonder which way is the most frequent, clockwise or anti-clockwise? Any reason why you chose anti-clockwise? Another masterpiece, much enjoyed; thanks.
Sensacional passeio !! 😍😍❤❤🙏🙏🙏😘😘🇧🇷
That's a hard one. I focus on mostly old villages that often date back centuries. Even the towns I visit, whilst they become modernised over time, still date back by centuries. I do have some videos where I have briefly explored reasonably newish houses. Try the Tattershall village video, and perhaps the Starkholmes village video.
A place like Milton Keynes would be good to showcase a more modern town. I've never been there but if you look at it on Google maps the whole layout and design of the town is quite different compared to other cities and towns
But if you're thinking of modern buildings, tall ones and the like, then London is your best bet. London has a few clusters of tall and modern buildings
I didn't get to try any of the pubs on my visit to the wall so I am afraid not. I'd like to think if your in the city centre then you can't go wrong with any of them.
that's the local extension, UK landlines also have a 5 digit regional prefix that everyone just kind of assumes you know. York's is 01904. I think if you're calling another number in the same region you just need the 6 digits.
If you are not going to include a description of were you are, you need to include a shot of the street sign before you shoot each section. Without this or a map showing the route you have followed it becomes meaningless.
I agree with you, which is why in the description of all my videos there has always been a google map route of my entire walk, a what3words grid reference to the start of the walk including mileage/km and even how many steps the walk took me 😄 Merry Christmas 🎄🎁

Love seeing York again! Went back in 2019 and walked part way around the walls. Such a beautiful city where my parents grew up!

Could you please go to Chester it’s recently been voted most beautiful city in the world 🌍
I wonder which way is the most frequent, clockwise or anti-clockwise? Any reason why you chose anti-clockwise? Another masterpiece, much enjoyed; thanks.
good question, can't say I really put any thought into it, I wonder if people being left or right handed makes a difference.
You’re supposed to go to the nearest pub every time you come down from the walls before continuing onto the next section!!! 🤣
The lakes at the end were something special, after filming I stayed there for some time just relaxing and enjoying the views! Very serene!
I lived in York between September 2015 December 2017
go to tang hall as thats the most beutiful place in york

Amazing, true European gem.
Hi Dave, which of your videos would better represent the "modern" neighborhood?
That's a hard one. I focus on mostly old villages that often date back centuries. Even the towns I visit, whilst they become modernised over time, still date back by centuries. I do have some videos where I have briefly explored reasonably newish houses. Try the Tattershall village video, and perhaps the Starkholmes village video.

No offense to you, Dave, your video and York is amazing, however I would not really call this the countryside! 😊
6 digit phone number?
that's the local extension, UK landlines also have a 5 digit regional prefix that everyone just kind of assumes you know. York's is 01904. I think if you're calling another number in the same region you just need the 6 digits.
You are quite right Communist Hamster :)
